night outside the college campus was unusually quiet.
Too quiet.wind moved slowly through the empty streets.dim light of the street lamps cast long shadows across the road.Anie and Eli walked together.
for a few moments, no one spoke.behind them, the library building stood silently.
Inside it, the hunters were still trying to regain control of the situation.
Anie's mind was still a storm of thoughts.
everything had happened so quickly.
Her power,Questioner, Hunters.
And most importantlyEli she slowly looked at him.he was walking calmly, as if nothing had happened.

finally, she spoke.

"What?"
she stopped walking,
"You have to tell me everything."
"I knew you were going to ask that."Eli let out a small breath.
They stood under a dim streetlight. light fell across Elijah's face.for the first time that night, Anie saw something different in his eyes.It wasn't calmness,It wasn't confidence.It was something deeper.

"Do you remember our college days?" Eli asked.
"Of course."frowned slightly.
"You were always in the library," he said,"Reading strange books."
"You were there too."Anie crossed her arms.
"Yes." he smiled faintly,"But I wasn't there for the books."
small weight formed in Anie's chest.
"What does that mean?"
Elijah looked at the distant city.
"You asked them,Questions."
"What…?" she freeze for a moment
"Don't you remember?"
A faint memory surfaced in her mind.

"You knew about it too?"Anie looked at him.Eli remained silent for a moment.
Then he spoke.

"Called…"she said slowly.
"Yes."
"We are not ordinary people." he nodded,he looked at her hands.

Anie looked at her hands.even now, the air around them trembled slightly.
"I can't even control it."
"That's normal." he said gently
she looked straight at him,
"How long have you known about this?"Eli remained silent for a few moments.then he answered.
"Three years."
"Three years?..nd you never told me?"
Anie could not believe it.
Before Eli could answer, the wind suddenly grew stronger.his hair shifted slightly.
"Because it's dangerous."
he pointed toward the city,
"The Hunters are hunting us,do you know why?"
she shook her head Elijah said,
"Because the Called are people who can change the world."
Anie thought for a moment then she asked,
"What did you feel today in the library?"
"Your power." he smiled,,
she looked surprised,"From that far away?"
Elianswered calmly,
"The Called can recognize each other."
for a few moments, neither of them spoke.then Anie asked slowly,
"Eli…what does all of this mean now?"
Eli looked at her his voice became serious.

In the distance, suddenlythe sound of sirens.Police,Hunter vehicles,Eli heard it and smiled.
"They're coming back."
"What do we do now?"Anie asked nervously,
"Now?"he said"We run."
They began walking again.faster this time.behind them, the sound of sirens grew louder.
In Anie's mind, only one thought remained.from this moment on, her world had changed.
But within that change, one thing was certain.she was not alone Eli walked beside her.he didn't say anything,
But his presence said one thing clearly...
