After all, the higher powers also knew that many natives of this `Dimension` did not truly worship `The God of Orichalcos`. They had simply submitted under pressure and force.
Some of them might even be pretending, merely putting on an act to survive. Once the god religion's control over an area weakened, it was entirely possible for certain bases and organizations to switch sides and flee at once.
"I heard some races are good at transformation and disguise," one of the senior officials said as he looked around at the others in the room. "Or they can do it through magic. Maybe the envoy is already here. Maybe they're even in this room."
At once, everyone began looking at each other. They examined the colleagues beside them, wondering whether any of them might be the envoy in disguise.
"Could it also be one of the guards?" someone said.
Another voice answered, "Think bigger. It could even be mixed in with the newly arrived prisoners."
Many people said nothing, but suspicion appeared on their faces. Would an envoy really disguise themself as a prisoner?
"In any case, we cannot overlook any possibility," the `Warden` concluded. "For the next stretch of time, everyone must remain alert..."
Boom!
At that exact moment, `the Bunker` suddenly shook from a violent impact coming from outside. The `Warden`'s expression changed immediately.
"What happened?" A demon hurried in from outside the door a moment later, running so fast that his footsteps rang sharply across the floor. He shouted in panic, "A prison break! Someone is breaking into the prison!"
In only a few short minutes, the area outside the Bunker had become a field of blood, and the fighting had sunk into total chaos.
An army of monsters surged toward the Bunker and slammed into the prison guards. The leading Fiend let out a low roar, and it seemed to shake the ground as countless monsters poured in from every direction.
They came in every imaginable form. Some were as savage as wild beasts, while others looked twisted, like evil spirits. Their hissing and roaring blended into a sound that sent chills through anyone who heard it.
The Warden Fiend arrived on the battlefield in person. He swept his gaze across the chaotic scene, frowned, and shouted, "Lord!"
A gust like a cold shadow swept over the battlefield, followed by a string of eerie, cackling laughter. A pitch-black Mystical Space Typhoon took on human form, like a noble stepping out of an ancient painting.
His face was pale, his skin like cold jade that had never seen sunlight, and beneath the crimson moon it gave off a faint red glow. A strange light flickered in his eyes, and under his sharp nose, his thin lips stayed pressed together except for the pointed fangs peeking from the corners.
This was not some nameless small fry whose identity no one could place. This was Vampire Lord, a five-star monster in Duel Monsters with 2000 ATK, and in the early days of real-life card play, he had even been a fairly common competitive pick.
"Your Vampire Clan does not operate in this territory, does it?" Warden said coldly. "What business do you have coming to my the Bunker?"
"Hmph. Does it really matter whether this is our territory?"
Vampire Lord narrowed his eyes and let out a cold snort. "Your Dark God has grown more and more greedy. Everyone knows it is only a matter of time before your claws reach into our land as well. Since that is the case, we might as well strike first and join forces with our allies in the Demon Tribe to form a united front, while there are still allies left to unite."
"Foolish."
Warden stepped forward. On his arm, the forms of a Duel Disk and Deck had already appeared as he spoke coldly. "You could have lived freely a little longer. But since you came here to die of your own accord, you have no one to blame but yourselves."
"Interesting. I have long wanted to test these so-called hounds of the Dark God for myself."
The lord let out a cold laugh as well, and a Duel Disk appeared on his arm.
"Duel!" x2
Warden drew five cards and said coldly, "Then let me show you how foolish it is to challenge me, the guardian of the Demon Tribe the Bunker."
The corner of Vampire Lord's mouth twitched slightly again. "Foolish? As long as I keep you tied down in this Duel, my mission is already complete."
"What?" Warden frowned, suddenly sensing trouble.
Boom!
While the battle outside raged on, an opening was suddenly blasted through the interior of the Bunker. A huge volume of water rushed in through the breach, and a tall figure slowly stepped forward on the flowing current.
A three-star WATER Fiend, Desrook Archfiend.
"Heh. Easier than I expected."
Desrook Archfiend let out a quiet, cold laugh and walked forward at an unhurried pace. He held a staff in his right hand, and at its tip was a grim skull ornament. The water that had burst through the wall did not scatter. Instead, it circled around him like water dragons, guarding him like attendants.
The prisoners in the cells on both sides immediately grew excited. Some shouted, some cheered, and some begged him to let them out.
But the bishop ignored Student Council for the moment and walked straight to a particular cell.
"Earl?"
The figure inside the cell slowly lifted his head.
Calling him a person was not really accurate. He looked more like a carefully dressed zombie, with a half-rotted face and one bulging eye that made him appear especially sinister.
Patrician of Darkness, a five-star upper-level Zombie-Type. His monster text described him as "an earl from the demon world, gentlemanly in appearance but evil by nature, feared not only by humans but even by lower Fiend."
He was the strongest prisoner being held in this the Bunker, but he usually could not be bothered to take part in the pointless struggles of lesser creatures. Naturally, those Fiend did not dare provoke him either.
"Your sentence is over, great Earl."
Desrook Archfiend smiled coldly and crooked a finger. The stream of water circling him moved like a nimble hand and picked up a small metal object.
It was a key, taken from a prison guard when he entered. A sharp gleam flashed through Patrician of Darkness's eyes, and he immediately recognized it as the key to this cell.
The cells in the Bunker looked ordinary, but they actually contained a Barrier that restricted the power of beings like them, these Spirits. Inside, Spirits could not Summon Duel Disk, nor could they use the power of cards.
The prisoners themselves were also bound by spells. Only in designated areas of the Bunker, or with the guards' permission, were they allowed to carry out Duel activity.
At last, freedom was close.
"Welcome back, Earl," Desrook Archfiend said with a light laugh.
"Hmph. I only fell into the hands of those Dark God hounds because I was careless for a moment," Patrician of Darkness said in a deep voice. "But now, even if I die in battle, even if my soul is absorbed and erased, I absolutely, definitely, no matter what, will never Student Council return to this cell again!"
"Naturally."
