Chapter 227 - Chapter 0227 - A One-Way Trap Lock Ignites

At last, he had officially entered the field. Jinzo's spirits immediately lifted. The last time he had finally gotten a chance to appear under his new master, he had barely landed before being tributed and turned into Cyber Blader, leaving Sanga Spirit depressed for quite a while.

Now he had finally gotten a real chance to show himself, so of course he had to perform well.

"Jinzo!?"

Both Desrook Archfiend and Patrician of Darkness were shocked. They could tell at a glance that this was no ordinary High-Level Monster card, but one truly inhabited by a real Sanga Spirit, a powerful Spirit even higher in rank than the two of them. A Duelist capable of controlling a Spirit of this level made them look at Yugen with growing uncertainty.

Was this guy really a prisoner in the Bunker? How could a place like this have a Duelist of this level?

"Bishop, be careful," Patrician of Darkness said in a low voice. "There really is something wrong with this kid!"

"Tch, I know."

Desrook Archfiend was already sweating, but with the dueling momentum of the duel pressing down on him, he did not dare relax for even a moment. "Then I activate my face-down card, the Trap Card Bottomless Trap Hole! When the opponent successfully Summons a Monster, it is turned face-down into Defense Position at once." (ANIME EFFECT)

"Hm, so you do not even recognize Jinzo. In my world, no one in Student Council would do something that stupid." Yugen shrugged. Desrook Archfiend cried out, "Why? Why didn't my trap activate?"

"So long as Jinzo is on the field, no traps can be activated, and the effects of face-up traps are also negated," Yugen explained. As he spoke, Jinzo kept his arms folded and leaned back with a proud expression. This was what it meant to be the bane of traps.

Only then did Desrook Archfiend go pale with shock. Nani?!? Did that mean his Bottomless and destruction trap were both completely shut down? If you were the sort of Trap Card user who opened with three traps and buried people under them, then why were you carrying a card like this yourself?

Wasn't he afraid it would shut down his own traps too? Desrook Archfiend found this opponent harder and harder to understand, and he increasingly felt that Patrician of Darkness had been right. There was definitely something wrong with this Duelist.

"Then I set one card in the Back Row."

A face-down card appeared in front of Yugen, and then he played another card from his hand. "Then I activate a Spell Card! Pot of Greed. Banish the three Spell Cards in my Graveyard, Hand Destruction, Graceful Charity, and the other Spell Card I just discarded, Foolish Burial, to draw two cards." (ANIME EFFECT)

The treasure spell card appeared before him, but before its effect resolved, he revealed another card in his hand. "Quick-Play Spell Serial Spell! This card can only be chained to your own Normal Spell activation, and by discarding all the cards in my hand, this card's effect becomes the same as that Normal Spell's effect."

Yugen sent the rest of his hand to the Graveyard and smiled faintly. "Because it only copies the effect, I do not need to pay the cost of banishing three Spell Card cards from the Graveyard again, so I can draw two more cards. That means I draw a total of four cards."

Yugen drew four cards in one breath. "Then I Normal Summon Patroid." Patroid, ATK 1200.

"Battle. Jinzo, direct attack!" Yugen ordered.

Jinzo immediately focused to the limit. This was the first time he had gotten a chance to attack in his master's hands, and he was determined to make the biggest, coolest energy sphere possible so he would not lose face in front of the team. Lightning churned in his palm and condensed into a round psychic shockwave, which roared straight toward Desrook Archfiend's face as he thrust both hands forward.

Desrook Archfiend gritted his teeth. "Then I activate Quick-Play Spell Emergency Provisions! I send my Continuous Spell Mirage of Nightmare on the field and the other two set cards in my Back Row to the Graveyard. For each card, I recover 1000 Life Points!"

The three cards vanished one after another, turning into golden motes that flowed into his body and restored a huge amount at once. Boom! Desrook Archfiend, LP 2150 to LP 5150 to LP 2750.

Desrook Archfiend was blasted to the ground and rolled twice, black smoke rising from his whole body as he lay there in a miserable state. "Then Patroid continues the attack," Yugen said. The humanoid jet also took off, and a string of missiles cut through the air before bombing down.

After a series of explosions, Desrook Archfiend was blasted onto his back and rolled again, his body charred black. Desrook Archfiend, LP 2750 to LP 1550. His pig-like scream made even the Fiends in the nearby cells shiver when they saw it.

It looked painful just to watch. Even so, he still trembled as he climbed back to his feet, but when he looked at Yugen now, fear had already appeared in his eyes. He was beginning to realize that he might have provoked something terrifying by mistake.

But there was still a chance.

Desrook Archfiend steadied his emotions. At least he had survived this turn, and although sacrificing two powerful traps at once hurt badly, now that this Jinzo was on the field, neither side could use traps. If the other side could not use traps either, then on the next turn he could turn things around and kill him instead.

"I activate the Equip Spell Amplifier, and equip it to Jinzo."

Yugen inserted a card into the Duel Disk, and a helmet-like device appeared in front of Jinzo. He obediently reached out, took it, and placed it on his head. "Amplifier is the exclusive equip for Jinzo. After Jinzo is equipped, his effect is strengthened from 'neither player can activate traps' to 'only the opponent cannot activate traps.'"

"And as the holder of Jinzo, my side will no longer be affected by Jinzo's trap-blocking effect as long as this equip remains on the field."

Desrook Archfiend fell silent.

Huh?

What did you just say?

The whole Fiend looked nauseous. He was finally beginning to understand why this man could use a trap-locking monster like Jinzo while still packing his Deck with trap cards in what seemed like a completely contradictory build.

If it had only been a simple trap lock, then no matter how troublesome it was, it would still just force both sides into a direct clash on the field. Just as Desrook Archfiend had thought a moment ago, the restriction on using traps applied equally to both players, so he would still have room to fight back on his next turn.

But the moment that helmet called Amplifier was equipped to Jinzo, everything changed. The field went from a fair "no trap cards" brawl to one-sided trap suppression, as if one side in the Duel had been stripped of the right to use the Underworld.

So that means I can only get trapped, but I can't set traps of my own?
