Chapter 29: The Pirate's Swagger and the Dragon's Roar part- 1
Location: The Royal Hotel, Penthouse Suite.
Lucy Heartfilia sat on a velvet sofa, looking distressed. Opposite her sat Prince Alaric—a Transmigrator with perfect blonde curls and a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"It is a simple exchange, Miss Heartfilia," Alaric said, sliding a contract across the table. "You marry me, become my Princess, and I wipe Fairy Tail's debt. Think of your friends. If you don't pay, the Magic Council will disband your guild. Again."
Lucy trembled. She clutched her keys. "I... I can't let the guild disband. But marriage?"
"It is a life of luxury," Alaric cooed, using a subtle Illusion Magic to make himself look glowing and trustworthy. "I will treat you like a queen. Unlike that barbarian Dragneel who drags you into danger constantly."
(He is manipulating her fear for her friends,) Ethan analyzed from Natsu's incoming perspective. (Standard villain tactic. Isolate the target using guilt. Natsu, you are almost there. Enter through the window. It is classic.)
"I am here!"
CRASH.
The reinforced glass window of the penthouse shattered into a million diamonds. Natsu Dragneel burst through, surrounded by flames, doing a mid-air roll and landing on the coffee table, crushing it.
"Natsu?!" Lucy shrieked. "Why do you never use the door?!"
Alaric stood up, brushing glass off his suit. "You! The Fire Dragon Slayer! You are ruining a private negotiation!"
Natsu ignored him. He looked at Lucy. He looked at the contract. He grabbed the contract.
"What is this?" Natsu asked, squinting. "Too many words."
FWOOSH.
He set the contract on fire. It turned to ash in seconds.
"My contract!" Alaric screamed. "That was a binding legal document!"
"If you want money," Natsu said, stepping off the ruined table and getting in Alaric's face. "Come fight me for it. We don't trade our friends for jewels."
Alaric sneered. "Barbarian. You think brute force solves everything? I am a Prince! I have the Royal Guard!"
Alaric snapped his fingers. "Guards! Seize him!"
Four heavily armored knights burst into the room. They weren't normal knights; they were constructs made of Illusion Magic, solid enough to hurt but tricky to hit.
(Careful, Natsu. Those are illusions. If you punch them, you might just hit the wall behind them. Smell them. Illusions don't have a scent.)
Natsu sniffed the air. He grinned.
"They smell like perfume and lies," Natsu said.
He closed his eyes.
"Fire Dragon's... Roar!"
A massive vortex of fire erupted from Natsu's mouth. He didn't aim at the knights. He aimed at the floor—specifically, at the magical circle Alaric was hiding under the rug that sustained the illusions.
The floor melted. The magic circle was destroyed. The knights vanished into smoke.
Alaric stumbled back. "How? How did you know?"
"My gut told me," Natsu said (giving Ethan zero credit, typical).
Natsu walked up to Alaric. The Prince was terrified. The heat radiating from Natsu was melting the wax in his hair.
"Lucy belongs to Fairy Tail," Natsu said, his voice low and threatening. "She goes on adventures with me. She complains when I break stuff. And she pays for my food. You can't have her."
Alaric trembled. "I... I will cancel the debt! Just don't burn my face! It is my best asset!"
Natsu grinned. "Good choice."
He turned to Lucy. She was staring at him, her cheeks flushed pink.
"Let's go, Lucy," Natsu said, offering a hand covered in soot. "Happy is saving us a fish."
Lucy looked at the destroyed penthouse, the terrified prince, and the grinning idiot who had just saved her.
She sighed, a smile breaking through. She took his hand. "You are paying for the window, Natsu."
"Heh? Put it on Erza's tab."
