Jacqueline jerked awake when icy water crashed over her.
The shock ripped her violently out of sleep. Her entire body jolted as terror surged through her veins.
For a moment she couldn't even breathe.
She blinked rapidly, trying to clear the blur from her vision
And the sight that greeted her made her stomach drop.
Ignacio stood over her.
A cruel, satisfied smirk curved across his lips as his eyes slowly dragged down her body, lingering on her chest. Her clothes were soaked now, the thin fabric clinging tightly to her skin.
Jacqueline's breath hitched.
Instinctively, she wrapped one arm around her chest and scrambled backward, trying to put distance between them. Her other arm barely moved at all, and the cold water had already soaked through the plaster and gauze wrapped around her injured wrist.
"Why are you so scared of me now?" Ignacio drawled, amusement dripping from his voice. "You're going to be my mate soon."
The words made her stomach churn violently.
