Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: The Eyes That Follow

**[Morning: Seoul Elite University — 09:20 AM]**

The campus was alive.

Students moved in clusters.

Laughter echoed.

Conversations overlapped.

Normal.

Simple.

Peaceful.

But not for her.

A sleek black car stopped at the entrance.

The door opened.

And she stepped out.

Kim Aeri.

Heads turned instantly.

Whispers followed.

"She's here…"

"The Kim heiress…"

"She looks unreal…"

Aeri ignored all of it.

Her heels clicked softly against the marble pathway.

Calm.

Composed.

Untouchable.

Her expression gave nothing away—

but her mind…

wasn't here.

It was still stuck on him.

That man.

That voice.

That presence.

Her fingers tightened slightly around her bag.

Why are you everywhere in my head…?

She hated it.

That loss of control.

That distraction.

And yet—

she couldn't stop.

Unseen—

from a distance—

someone else was watching her too.

Standing near the glass corridor—

partially hidden behind the reflection—

Kang.

His gaze followed her every step.

Silent.

Focused.

Unmoving.

Students passed by him.

Voices blurred.

But he heard none of it.

Only her.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Why do my eyes keep finding you…?

She didn't look dangerous.

Not here.

Not like last night.

Right now—

she looked…

normal.

And that made it worse.

Because he knew—

she wasn't.

Aeri stopped near the stairs.

Adjusted her sleeve.

Turned slightly—

And for a split second—

their eyes almost met.

Kang stepped back.

The reflection shifted.

Gone.

Aeri frowned.

Something felt off.

Like someone was watching her.

She glanced around.

Nothing.

Her expression hardened.

I'm overthinking.

But deep inside—

she knew.

She wasn't.

**[Classroom — 10:00 AM]**

The lecture had started.

The professor's voice filled the room.

Charts.

Notes.

Explanations.

Aeri sat by the window.

Calm.

Focused.

Writing.

Listening.

Perfect.

But outside—

behind the long glass panel—

Kang stood.

Not inside the class.

Not part of it.

Just outside.

Watching.

The sunlight filtered through the glass—

falling softly across her face.

Her expression—

serious.

Focused.

Different.

Not the girl from last night.

And yet—

the same.

Kang's gaze darkened slightly.

Who are you…?

His fingers tapped lightly against the glass—

once.

Twice.

Then stopped.

Too close.

He stepped back again.

But his eyes didn't leave her.

**[Break Time — 11:15 AM]**

The classroom emptied slowly.

Students gathered in groups.

Laughing.

Talking.

Moving.

Aeri stepped into the corridor.

Her posture straight.

Her expression unreadable.

A group of girls approached her.

"Hey Aeri! There's a party tonight—are you coming?"

She gave a faint smile.

"I'll think about it."

Before she could move—

someone stepped in front of her.

A boy.

Confident.

Smirking.

"Hey… Kim Aeri, right?"

Aeri's eyes narrowed slightly.

"I don't talk to strangers."

He chuckled.

"Then let's not be strangers."

A pause.

Somewhere—

a gaze turned colder.

From across the corridor—

Kang stood still.

Watching.

His jaw tightened slightly.

The boy leaned closer.

"Come on… just one coffee—"

"Move."

Aeri's voice dropped.

Cold.

Sharp.

The boy blinked.

Taken aback.

But still smiling.

Persistent.

"You're interesting."

Silence.

And then—

a presence.

The air shifted.

Kang stepped forward.

Not fast.

Not aggressive.

Just enough.

He stopped beside them.

Close enough to be noticed.

The boy frowned.

"Something you need?"

Kang didn't look at him.

His gaze was on Aeri.

Calm.

Steady.

Then—

finally—

he spoke.

"You're in the way."

His tone was quiet—

but something in it…

made it clear it wasn't a request.

His tone wasn't loud.

But it carried weight.

The boy hesitated.

Something about him felt…

off.

Uncomfortable.

"…Whatever," he muttered.

And stepped aside.

Aeri didn't move.

Her eyes shifted toward Kang.

Suspicion.

Irritation.

Something else.

"You again."

Kang met her gaze.

Unfazed.

"You didn't seem to mind help."

"I didn't ask for it."

A pause.

Then—

very quietly—

"You don't like being approached."

Her eyes sharpened.

"And you don't like staying away."

Silence.

Tension.

Electric.

For a second—

no one moved.

Then—

Kang stepped back.

Distance restored.

Mask on.

"As you wish."

And just like that—

he walked away.

Aeri watched him go.

Her expression unreadable.

But her thoughts—

were anything but calm.

Why does it feel like…

you're always there…?

**[Later — Rooftop]**

The wind was colder here.

Sharper.

Quieter.

Aeri stood alone.

Looking over the city.

Her phone buzzed.

A message.

Tracking Active. Location updating.

A slow smile appeared.

"Got you."

But even as she said it—

a strange feeling settled in her chest.

Like she wasn't the only one hunting.

Like—

she was being watched too.

From a distance—

behind another building—

Kang lowered his phone.

A small blinking signal reflected in his eyes.

"Found you…"

His voice was soft.

Almost amused.

Two trackers.

Two hunters.

Neither aware—

they were already caught in the same web.

**[Final Scene — The Unseen Connection]**

Evening.

The campus slowly emptied.

Lights dimmed.

Shadows grew longer.

Aeri walked alone.

Her steps slowed.

That feeling again.

She stopped.

Turned.

Looked toward the glass corridor.

Empty.

Silent.

But still—

something felt there.

Watching.

Waiting.

Her breath stilled.

"Who are you…?" she whispered.

No answer.

Only silence.

But somewhere—

in that silence—

a presence remained.

Unseen.

Unavoidable.

And dangerously close.

The game had changed.

And this time—

neither of them was in control.
