Chapter 30: The Fate to Come.
~~~ [START]
In a dark room, only lit by a flat-screen TV suspended in the middle of its main wall, the door opened as Honey stepped in. The girl didn't even halt after she entered; she just walked forward, then threw herself on the shoulders of Gina, who was seated on the bed's edge.
"I'm sorry," Honey whispered into Gina's ear, continually kissing her on the cheek, as she shared an expression of hilarious disgust. "I had to do it."
Gina tried as hard as she could to nudge Honey off her shoulders, but she couldn't, so she turned, rolling and falling to the floor, accompanied by Honey, who was now laughing, lying back-first and staring at the ceiling.
Gina, who was now seated on the cold floor, turned her eyes back to the TV. It was a news channel, and every week there seemed to be an increase in deaths.
"I was right, wasn't I?" Gina questioned. But without answer, Honey once again crawled toward her and slung on her shoulders, only this time, Gina didn't shove her off; she just let her lie there, the warmth of her skin and cold frost from her now-falling tears giving some type of comfort.
It was strange how close they were; they had known each other since before they were toddlers.
"Was I?" Gina pushed, even through Honey's approaching sobs. Then, with nothing but a nod, the shadows came alight.
Nothing in this world could hide from the sun. Not Honey, not Gina, or even God in flesh.
"Stupid bitch."
{ELSEWHERE}
In the frozen woods, far at the highest point of Everest, a shirtless figure of a man stood silent, with his eyes turning around him, not even bothering to shiver from the wind blowing against his skin. He wasn't even wearing warm clothing, just a white short-sleeved shirt and blue shorts, both tight enough to show the pale of his muscles.
Then suddenly, above him, soaring through the air unnoticed, a large spear descended with unnatural speed, but the figure leaned to the side, and the spear missed his chest by a hair's length.
Then, when the figure turned behind him because of the sudden events, his crystallised skin crawled as a dozen red-cloaked individuals neared with slow steps, all covering their faces.
The figure stumbled backward, eyes nearly widening.
"My child," Aro, who was walking in front of them, said. His eyes brightened with interest, his lips partially parted. "Look at you. Living in the embrace of the sun, I thought you knew that Sliver is dead. His coven belongs to me now."
The figure's eyes narrowed; he knew the man was dead. But even then, he didn't reply; he just remained motionless, with his skin still sparkling like the rest of them.
"You belong to me now," Aro said.
And the figure's eyes instantly turned to the spear he had dodged behind him. Then they turned back to Aro. "You people nearly speared me."
"Nearly?" Aro's smile vanished the instant the words reached his ears. "That's because I thought you had abandoned us, my child."
The silence didn't even linger among them; instead, it was further disturbed when Aro took another step forward. But this time, those behind him didn't follow.
"Prove me wrong," Aro said, stretching out his hand to him. "You know who we seek, don't you? Come, child."
The figure, not even thinking of escape, stepped forward and extended his hand back.
And the moment Aro's naked hand grazed his, the very second their fingers touched skin to skin, Aro's eyes slightly widened, completely unnoticed. And softly, a small smile blessed him.
"Ah, so he killed your mate," Aro said, causing the figure to abruptly shoot his arm back. And the people behind Aro nearly stepped forward, but Aro raised a hand, completely halting them. "A male mate… how interesting."
Someone chuckled from behind them, so the figure's head instinctively lowered, even though it was unnoticed by himself.
Aro's eyes glanced back, and without much resistance, that same 'someone's' head roared with a thud the moment it was cut, as it fell to the floor.
"Join me, my child," Aro's words continued, this time, his eyes turning back to the figure and piercing directly into his. As if, by witchcraft, somewhat measuring the soul. "I promise you revenge… lend me your gift."
The figure clearly hesitated, but in the next moment, he stood up and straightened himself. Yet his eyes didn't shift from Aro; they remained stationed.
"Okay." The figure slightly nodded when he said it. "If you get me to Drex, I'll do whatever you want."
—------------[Authors Note: Drex was mentioned in Chapter 1]
{ELSEWHERE}
"Why're you guys in my apartment?" Troy said through the phone, as he waved at Miss Cole, who waved back, while simultaneously shouting at the cook who forgot to put icing sugar on the pancake.
Then he paused after closing the door behind him; Gina explained the situation. "Yeah, but still, that doesn't explain what you were doing in my apartment… Honey also owns a flat screen."
He sighed after Gina cut the call, demanding that he bring some snakes for tomorrow's party. She didn't even offer him any money, only simple obligation, something he, for the past many months, had unfortunately grown used to.
But not all was as simple as it seemed, because fate was nearing.
Fate was inevitable.
