"You're quite the gentleman, then, for not searching your hostage personally," Faye Vaughn taunted, her lips curled in a half-smile.
Liam Linden stood with his back ramrod straight, unfazed. "Whether or not I'm a gentleman is my business," he said coolly.
Faye Vaughn finished checking herself over and found nothing out of the ordinary. "Second Young Master Hawthorne was probably just bluffing. He didn't plant any mini time bomb on me."
Liam Linden grunted in response, his demeanor growing even more distant and indifferent.
In truth, he had already scanned her with a device. But since he couldn't be completely sure, he had resorted to the most primitive method—a physical search.
"Get in the van." Liam Linden didn't spare Faye Vaughn another glance as he returned to the driver's seat.
"Aren't you worried your hostage might run away?" Faye Vaughn muttered as she bent down to grab her backpack.
