Ava's Pov
By the next morning, I was already exhausted before the day even properly started.
Not physically. Mentally.
The kind of exhaustion that settles into your body after spending too much time thinking about things nobody is explaining clearly enough for you to actually understand. Every conversation lately felt unfinished, like everybody around me knew parts of something bigger but kept deciding I only deserved small pieces of it at a time.
My mum was still asleep when I woke up, which honestly felt like the only peaceful thing in the house recently. Amanda had somehow managed to fall asleep on the couch in the living room with the television still running quietly in the background, one of her slippers halfway across the floor like she got tired in the middle of moving.
I stood there for a moment just looking at everything around me.
For a few seconds, life almost felt normal again.
Then my phone buzzed.
Leon.
I stared at his name without answering immediately.
