Chapter 23: Uchiha's Scroll
"How could Grandfather possibly know?"
Ruo Feng wondered, still puzzled that everything that had happened at school had somehow reached his grandfather's ears.
He sat in his small living room, gnawing on some magical beast meat, casting a questioning gaze toward his grandfather across from him.
With a kind smile, his grandfather said, "Of course I know! Many of the teachers at the shinobi school were students your grandfather once sponsored. Your teacher, Yamada, is one of them. After school today, he personally came to visit me and told me about your experiences!"
Ruo Feng's eyes widened in astonishment. "Grandfather… how many people have you sponsored? Even the teachers at the shinobi school are among them!"
His grandfather chuckled. "In short, many. And in the future, all of them will be of help to you. But I never expected that your ability would awaken so quickly. Still, it makes sense. The abilities of our family are simple—once your spiritual power reaches a certain level, awakening comes naturally."
Ruo Feng's curiosity sparked. "Grandfather… what exactly is this ability? Sensory perception isn't normally offensive, yet in my case, it feels… different."
His grandfather smiled warmly. "That, my child, is the power of emotion itself—a special form of intimidating genjutsu. You must understand, ordinary genjutsu relies solely on a person's spiritual power. The stronger one's spiritual power, the stronger the genjutsu. Of course, some unique kekkei genkai are beyond this scope.
"Our family's ability is simpler. By channeling spiritual power into sensory perception, when one's spiritual power reaches a certain threshold, the perception evolves with the emotions, manifesting as a unique mental pressure that influences others' feelings.
"In short, our family's power allows spiritual energy to change with emotion. And these changes can even form special jutsu. But throughout history, only a few in our lineage have managed to transform sensory perception into emotional genjutsu.
"To achieve that, one must possess terrifying spiritual power. And raising spiritual power is no easy feat. I never thought you'd reach this stage so quickly. Perhaps as you grow, your spiritual power will continue to increase, allowing you to master this emotional genjutsu."
His grandfather's voice carried a hint of excitement. After all, someone had inherited his legacy—and possibly surpassed it. Naturally, he felt deep joy.
Ruo Feng smiled lightly. "I didn't expect our family to be so profound… turning emotion into genjutsu. That's… rather fascinating."
He chewed on the magical beast meat, reflecting on the scene in class earlier. So that was it—the emotions had guided his spiritual power, forming a special genjutsu that instilled fear in the other students.
⸻
Night had fallen. Ruo Feng entered his bedroom, his gaze falling on a corner of the room.
His grandfather had left, still carrying a joyful expression—after all, Ruo Feng had awakened the family's ability.
Ruo Feng's eyes fixed on the corner. "Grandfather's power is impressive, but compared to the Sharingan, it's lacking… by a lot. And this emotional genjutsu requires strong spiritual power as a foundation—I don't have enough yet. I'd better see what Uchiha Madara left behind. Maybe there's something useful there."
Having discovered the hidden secret in the corner yesterday, he couldn't resist exploring it today. After all, it belonged to Uchiha Madara.
Ruo Feng formed hand seals and guided his chakra.
"Open!"
With a soft command, a passage appeared in the corner of the room.
It had required very little chakra to open—the amount Ruo Feng had was more than enough.
He stared at the passage, then stepped inside.
As he entered, the light of candles appeared, illuminating the path ahead.
Soon, he arrived at the secret chamber he had found yesterday.
Ruo Feng muttered, "With Madara's strength, whatever he left behind won't be ordinary. I just hope it's something useful for me."
His eyes fell upon a dust-covered scroll.
In this chamber, there were only three scrolls. His grandfather had told him about two: the first, a scroll personally written by Uchiha Madara, and the second, a scroll that could only be inherited by the Uchiha clan head's lineage. The third—his grandfather didn't know.
Aside from the scrolls, there were weapons and armor. Ruo Feng paid them no mind; the truly divine weapons had already been taken by Madara himself.
He approached the scroll written by Madara, brushing away the dust. His eyes scanned the characters.
The text was proud, radiating an aura of dominance.
After a moment, Ruo Feng withdrew his gaze from the scroll.
"Phew… how should I put this?" he said with a bitter smile. "As expected of Madara… his writings are profound and powerful."
Indeed, the jutsu recorded in this scroll were exceptional.
Ruo Feng unrolled the scroll further. "Sage techniques, Fire Release, Lightning Release, Yin Release… all incredibly powerful. Each could easily become a shinobi's signature jutsu. But for someone just starting to refine chakra, this is nothing short of a divine script!"
He felt helpless. The scroll contained many high-level techniques. Most were far beyond his current level—or were forbidden jutsu. No matter how hard he trained, this scroll was almost unreadable to him.
Among the techniques were Sage Mode, Wood Release, Yin Release… even Reanimation was mentioned.
Madara had not recorded a single simple jutsu; every technique was formidable, capable of challenging even Jonin-level shinobi.
Ruo Feng squinted his eyes, carefully storing the scroll. "I can't practice these yet. Maybe later. Even Konoha probably doesn't have records of most of this… after all, it's Madara's research. He even made some notes on the First Hokage's Sage Mode. Once I grow stronger, this will be invaluable."
After putting away Madara's scroll, Ruo Feng turned to the next one.
This scroll belonged to the Uchiha clan head lineage—the most precious inheritance of the Uchiha.
He Pit up. "I hope this one is… a bit more megeable. Otherwise, it won't be of any use to me."
As he slowly opened the scroll, a strange expression crossed his face.
