Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Last Words of the Dog Sage

Beast King Mountain.

The Dog Clan.

Ruofeng narrowed his eyes, a trace of genuine delight surfacing within them.

Yes—delight.

The Dog Clan was the perfect choice. The perfect investment.

As long as the Three Thousand Garbage Station continued to exist, one day it would inevitably connect to cultivation worlds filled with spiritual energy. Even discarded scraps from such realms would contain immense vitality.

Those remnants alone would be enough to nurture powerful summoning beasts.

And in certain cultivation worlds, entire sects specialized in raising immortal beasts.

If he could obtain waste from such beast-taming sects—

He could cultivate the strongest summoning clan in existence.

At least within the Naruto world.

And the Dog Clan… he liked them.

Ruofeng had always loved dogs. The thought of having a Tibetan Mastiff at his side in battle—

That was interesting.

More importantly—

The Dog Clan was loyal.

Once their intelligence seal was lifted and they acknowledged a master, they would never betray him.

That alone made them the ideal summoning race.

Ruofeng looked at the aging Dog Sage before him and spoke solemnly:

"Rest assured. I will protect the Dog Clan. I won't let them decline."

The Dog Sage coughed softly.

"Heh… then it seems I chose correctly. Humans and dogs have always been companions. Even now, many humans cherish our kind. Some ninja even turn dogs into partners, into their own unique techniques."

He paused, breathing shallow.

"I hope Beast King Mountain's Dog Clan… continues to endure."

His voice carried the weight of centuries.

Ruofeng understood.

These were not just instructions.

They were farewell words.

The Dog Sage's eyes flickered faintly.

"Do you know how the Dog Clan was founded?"

"It was because of Asura and Indra."

"Especially Asura. He taught me the method of absorbing natural energy… and entrusted me with a fragment of the Divine Tree. With that power, I was able to reproduce and give birth to what is now the Dog Clan."

He paused.

"But when I first opened my eyes… the one I saw was Indra."

"My master… was Indra."

"Therefore, I would never betray him. No matter how much Asura aided me, the first master I recognized was Indra."

His voice weakened further.

"I am going to my master now."

"When the seals on these children are lifted, the first person they see will become their lifelong master."

"Even if that master kills them… they will not betray."

"That is the Dog Clan."

"The clan of loyalty."

Ruofeng felt a chill.

Before his eyes, the Dog Sage's body began to fade, as though dissolving into the air itself.

"Senior—"

Ruofeng stepped forward instinctively.

He couldn't help but feel respect.

The Clan of Loyalty.

For a moment, he even considered returning to his residence to retrieve the Kirin Blood Wood, wondering if it could prolong the Dog Sage's life.

The old sage smiled faintly.

"Ruofeng… death, to me, is liberation."

"If not for these children needing care… I would have left long ago to see Master Indra."

Ruofeng fell silent.

The Dog Sage's beard gradually vanished. His aged face softened into a peaceful smile—

Then he disappeared completely.

Inside the grand hall, the Tibetan Mastiff and the sled dog lowered their heads, eyes moist, as though instinctively sensing their ancestor's passing.

Clink—

The sage's staff fell to the ground.

Beside it rolled a small bell.

Ruofeng recognized it immediately.

It was the bell Indra had once placed around the Dog Sage's neck.

A bell worn for a thousand years.

A bell he had never discarded.

Ruofeng picked it up carefully.

"When I see Indra one day… I will tell him."

"I'll tell him that his loyal hound waited for him until the very end."

He stored the bell with utmost care.

Through the contract link, he sent reassurance to the two dogs before him.

Then he gently stroked their fur.

"Take me to your tribe."

"I need to see your clan."

The Mastiff turned and began walking.

Though their intelligence was sealed, instinct still remained.

Not long after, Ruofeng finished surveying the entire Dog Clan.

Over ten thousand dogs.

Every breed imaginable—

Tibetan Mastiffs. Bulldogs. Huskies. Sled dogs. Pit bulls.

If it existed on Earth, it existed here.

Ordinarily, summoning clans were limited in number.

Mount Myōboku's toads numbered barely a thousand.

Even Gamabunta had only one known heir.

Ryūchi Cave's snakes were numerous, but only around a thousand possessed intelligence and ninjutsu capability. The rest were little more than large serpents—often used as expendable summons.

But the Dog Clan was different.

Their intelligence was sealed.

That may have removed the usual limitation on reproduction.

Among the ten thousand, at least ninety percent had the potential to awaken intelligence and become true ninja hounds.

Ruofeng's eyes gleamed.

"With proper cultivation… this could become the strongest summoning clan in the Naruto world."

He paused.

"But first—the seal must be lifted."

As he muttered to himself, the Mastiff tugged at his pant leg, pulling him toward a direction.

"You're saying here?"

The Mastiff nodded with startling human-like understanding and led him toward a cave.

Ruofeng followed.

Inside—

He froze.

"This… is the Dog Clan's archive?"

Rows of bookshelves stretched before him.

He quickly scanned the categories.

Only three.

First:

Natural Chakra & Sage Mode.

Second:

Sealing Techniques & Research.

Third:

The Compendium of Ninja Hounds.

The Dog Clan's legacy was simple but powerful—

Training methods for ninja dogs.

Records on Sage Mode cultivation.

And sealing technique research.

The Tibetan Mastiff stepped forward, gripped one of the books in its mouth—

And looked at Ruofeng.
