"You are sorry?" At first, his voice was low, as though trying to process the information that he had just received from Stella, whom he had been speaking with for the past week concerning Jade's well-being, yet she never bothered to tell him that her heart was infected.
"You are sorry!" Now his voice was a lot louder, and he looked angrier. He could have stopped them earlier. He could have left her that way if this was the outcome, but now she might lose her life, and he was also responsible. It made no sense to him at all.
Van took a few steps back. Stella did the same, not sure what he was going to do next. He continued to retreat and only stole a glance at Jade once before leaving the laboratory in a fit of rage. He slammed the door behind him, then pulled down the artwork in the hallway, tossing it to the ground, shattering its glass cover and breaking its frame.
