Chapter 10 - Debt Repaid.

Whistle~

"Yellow team to the right, red team to the left."

"Hurry up."

Silas looked down at his vest, it was red.

He ran over to the left side of the court and got into position. He glanced over at the other team.

They seemed confident, maybe overconfident even.

His eyes drew to the idiot that had been provoking him earlier.

"Mike, that new kid is on the other team."

"Hehe, yeah I know, we gotta bring that guy back down to earth."

"We gotta show him that money and looks aren't everything."

Silas rolled his eyes, down to earth? Did I ever leave? What did I even do to provoke you?

Just then the whistle went off again.

"Go!" the PE teacher yelled out.

The ball flew into the air and Mike caught it, he quickly made his way towards our side.

He had a smug smirk as he fainted one of our team members and passed him.

He made his way towards the three point line. Just as he was closing in thinking this was gonna be an easy win, he glanced at where Silas had been standing before.

Nothing, he found nothing. He looked around but just then a figure appeared in his path.

Silas. He raised his hand and made a steal. The ball was swiped right from Mike's control and right into Silas's.

When Mike realized what had happened his eyes widened in surprise.

Silas was already on his way towards the opposing team's hoop.

One of the opposing team members approached him, but it was useless, Silas was too fast, too agile.

He feinted him to the right and passed him on the left.

At this point he was already at the three point line, he raised his shooting hand and made a throw.

Whistle~

"Three points to red."

Silas walked back to home court. As he passed the mid line, Mike gave him a glare.

The glare was filled with humiliation, anger, and hate.

Silas ignored that. What could he do?

The game continued in this fashion. Whenever Mike would get the ball and rush up, Silas would stop him and steal the ball.

Sometimes Mike would get a pass and Silas would intercept it mid throw.

All this brought more and more impotent rage to Mike.

"Hey! Mike, are you scared of the new kid?"

"Why are you letting him steal the ball like that?"

Mike glared at them. Was he letting him steal the ball? Are you nuts?

He looked at the score taker, 12/3. They were losing, they were losing bad.

And it wasn't even just Silas, their whole team was playing good.

They hit more shots, catched more passes, how? HOW?

Silas on the other hand was relaxed. This was child's play.

He had realized early on… his team wasn't that good. So he improvised.

It can't just be a one man show… right? So, he used his powers to "help" with shots and catches.

Was it cheating… not technically, was it morally acceptable? Barely.

Who made this idiot with a fragile ego provoke him? In fact, he wasn't even intercepting other team members, only Mike, it was just that he wanted a one man show so only he attacked..

And was he getting one? Ooh yes, in humiliation.

Hehe.

Just as he was sinking in the bliss of schadenfreude he saw Mike rushing up again, his face cold.

Silas twitching his lips. He couldn't help it, this was really fun.

He moved in to block Mike's path. Mike tried to faint him, but it was for naught.

As he dribbled Silas made a steal, and then passed him in one fluid motion.

Their game had already attracted a lot of attention.

"What's the new guy's problem, targeting Mike?"

"His problem? Jessica, it was Mike who provoked him first, alright?"

The other girls around Jessica frowned as they glanced at her.

Bella a bit further away looked on with a thoughtful expression, she had seen how Mike was provoking that new guy.

She sympathized since she was also new, but was much better received.

But now she saw that it was unnecessary.

"Whoo~"

Silas made a beautiful pass to a teammate, changed position and his team mate passed back.

It was fast, beautiful, and skillful. The other team didn't know what hit them.

All these cheers reached Mike's ears, they cut at his already fragile ego like blades.

He glared at Silas's back and made up his mind.

Hmm, what is this guy up to now? Silas felt a strong malice come from Mike.

He used his divine sense to feel where he was, he was now rushing towards him.

Is he gonna tackle me? Silas frowned. If he was displeased before, now he was irritated.

Mike had been playing dirty using illegal moves the entire game, trying to steal the ball by hitting his arms and hands.

He had grabbed at his vest and arms when he was dribbling. Just being a nuisance.

Now he was going even further. I haven't even gotten back about the petty shit he's been doing and he's still coming after me?

Silas shifted his posture and got ready, just then Mike slammed into him, clearly using an exorbitant amount of force.

Silas wasn't just gonna eat this.

He steeled himself and tanked his tackle and put more force back.

All this resulted in Mike getting slammed into the ground, a loud thud as his head whipped against the floor.

His face contorted in pain and surprise. He then started to gasp for air.

But without stopping Silas shot the ball towards the hoop.

The sound of the net brushing against the ball rang out.

The whole hall became more quiet. Then, it erupted in cheers.

Whistle~

"Hey! Mike! This isn't football, tone down the contact."

The PE teacher said, clearly noncommittal, he could clearly care less.

Silas glanced down at Mike who was sitting on the ground.

Pathetic. I didn't do anything to him yet he was willing to go this far against someone he had no grudge against.

Mike looked up and saw Silas's gaze and lowered his head in shame. He had gone so far, yet had nothing to show for it.

After that tackle, Mike withdrew from the game and sat down on the bleacher.

I didn't matter, the game was soon over anyway.

"Hey, Silas, you were amazing, and thanks for passing the ball."

One of his team members approached.

Silas nodded.

"We're a team, right?"

The guy nodded excitedly. And soon more of his team members approached to say "Hi".

Silas walked out of the changing room, the showers here left much to be desired.

He didn't even need to shower… but he didn't want to seem out of place as the only one not showering.

He moved towards his locker, still using his divine sense to weave through the crowd.

He arrived at his locker and put his gym bag in. It was lucky Viktor read the mail from the school and packed his gym clothes.

Silas looked at the schedule and saw that it was lunch.

Sigh.

Let's see if we can find something edible in the cafeteria. Unlikely… at least an apple can't be messed up, right?
