Silas arrived at the biology classroom and made his way inside.
The enthusiastic teacher approached him with a smile.
"You're Silas Reed, right?"
Silas was surprised, this teacher didn't even try his last two names? Savage.
"Yes, sir."
He nodded.
"You can call me Mr. Banner, your seat is down there, the furthest down on the right, beside Miss Olivera."
Silas nodded and made his way down towards his designated spot.
He placed his books on the table and looked at his deskmate.
She had this nerdy look, glasses, oversized jumper, messy hair, and she hadn't even looked at him once since he sat down.
Silas felt it was necessary to make some contact with her, they needed to do the work together later.
"Hello. My name is Silas." He smiled slightly and reached out his hand.
The girl looked over in his general direction.
He got a closer look and realised she also had some freckles on her nose.
Overall, she was quite cute.
Silas watched as she reached out her hand hesitantly.
He went on the offensive and grabbed her hand.
"Nice to meet you. So what's your name?"
She was taken out of her stupor by the question.
"Kate Olivera."
"Nice to meet you, Kate."
Then he let go of her hand and focused on other things. Bella had just arrived at the door.
He looked over at Edward and saw that he was staring intently at Bella as she walked in.
Silas shifted his attention to Bella and watched as she walked past the fan.
Side note… who has a fan on in the middle of January? This is one of the coldest months.
He watched as Edward covered his mouth and how Bella's face fell as she saw that.
Silas shook his head at the scene. How ridiculous.
Bella made her way over to the desk and sat down. Edward was going full freak mode and was staring at her and was practically halfway leaned over on her side of the desk.
Silas felt that he had enough of this and looked to the side just to meet a surprised gaze.
It was Kate, who now looked like a deer in headlights.
"What's up?"
"No… no nothing."
Just then the teacher started to gather the attention of the students.
"Today we are going to watch the behavior of planaria, aka flatworms."
The teacher arrived and gave us two glass containers.
Kate quickly took them to her side and started to write in her notebook as the teacher started to talk.
Silas looked over and was confused? She was so shy and timid earlier but now she snatches the study material?
"Are you just gonna keep these two to yourself?" Silas asked.
She looked up and said.
"I'll let you copy later."
Copy? Was that what he asked?
"That wasn't what I asked. I don't really mind, but couldn't you have asked before you took the worms?"
Kate lowered her head and apologized.
"Sorry… if you want I'll copy it for you."
Copy!? Copy!? Is that all you can say?
"I don't want to copy!" Silas said in a hushed whisper.
Displeased he looked up at the board and started to take notes himself… not that he needed them.
What's wrong with this girl, really? She seemed smart at the beginning, but now she's acting like an idiot.
Does she have some fetish to have others copy off her?
He split his attention so he could think and still write down all the important parts the teacher said. Now he could recite his note book front to back, even with his eyes closed.
The rest of the class passed smoothly.
And as the bell rang Edward rushed out, just like the original.
Silas picked up his books and stacked them on top of each other.
He picked up the stack as he stood up, and started to walk towards the door.
But before he could take more than two steps he heard a low voice.
"Are… are you sure you don't want to copy?"
Silas stopped, took a slightly deeper breath and said without turning back.
"I'm alright."
There has to be something wrong with this pervert.
Silas had already labeled her a pervert in his head. This was really too strange.
He made his way to his locker and threw his stuff in, then he made his way to the reception again.
He had to report, then he could leave for the day.
As he arrived at the reception he saw Edward pass Bella and out the door.
Shit! I missed the spiciest part.
Silas lamented as he walked towards the reception desk.
"I'm here to report."
The reception lady looked up and smiled.
"Have you had a good day?"
Silas nodded.
The lady looked at her computer, pressed the mouse a few times, then looked up and said.
"I see that you have been present at all the classes."
Silas nodded and turned around.
"Good bye, have a great day."
The lady smiled and said.
"Thank you, and you too."
…
Silas walked out the double doors and finally felt the fresh air.
Finally free.
As he walked to his car he felt multiple gazes on him. He used his divine sense to see who they were.
The Cullens, Bella, Mike… and Viktor.
He was squatting at the treeline, watching him as he walked to his car.
Sigh. This idiot, he'll get himself exposed at this rate.
But his attention was drawn to the Cullens conversation… it was about him. Shocker.
"Alice did you have art with the new guy?" Rosalie asked.
"Yeah, and he has a name you know? It's Silas."
Rosalie rolled her eyes.
"So how is Silas? Is he emotionless and crazy?"
Alice frowned. She didn't like that wording.
"Don't say that about him, and no, he was perfectly normal."
"We had a great time in arts class, we even got our paintings hung up."
Rosalie frowned, clearly she didn't take Alice as a reliable source.
Just then Emmett stepped forward.
"What did Silas paint? Was it good?"
Alice smiled.
"We painted a lake view with trees, and yes he was very good, that's why our paintings were hung up."
Emmett put his hand on his chin and nodded.
"Did he say he was just average right before? Saying something like `If it's painting stick figures, then I'm a pro`?"
Alice shook her head.
"No, but he did say he was a novice and he painted like one, but then I watched him get better before my eyes."
Emmett nodded.
"That's my good brother. Jack of all trades."
Rosalie rolled her eyes, she doubted if Silas even knew his name.
"Am I the only one finding that he learnt painting so fast, suspicious?" She asked.
Alice rubbed her chin.
"It's a little strange… but not as strange as reading minds, seeing the future, sensing emotions, eternal youth or sparkling in the sun."
Jasper appeared.
"She's right. It's not supernatural."
Rosalie rolled her eyes.
"You're forgetting your powers don't work on him."
Jasper frowned. She was right.
"Let's talk about it with Carlisle when we get home, and then decide what to do."
"For now, remain suspicious."
They all nodded, even Edward who had climbed into his car nodded.
The one they had discussed, Silas, he had heard it all.
Are they suspicious of me already?
It doesn't matter, what can they do?
Just then he got in his car. He felt with his divine sense and saw that Viktor was leaving.
But as Viktor left Jasper turned his head towards the woods.
"Did you feel that?"
The Cullens all turned to look at him.
"Feel what?"
Jasper narrowed his eyes.
"That aura from before… I felt it again, this time clearer, it seems to be a vampire."
"A vampire, are you sure?" Emmett asked. The others felt the same way.
"Yes, that cold aura is unmistakable."
Silas sitting in his car felt a headache come on. This idiot.
He knows Jasper's senses are sharp, why didn't he leave earlier. No! I must punish him when I get home.
The Cullens on the other hand were getting in their cars, preparing to head home, they had a lot to discuss with Carlisle and Esme.
CHAPTER END.
