Chapter 68 - No Alice?

The next morning Silas woke up and headed for the shower.

What he didn't notice as he was groggily making his way into the bathroom, was the sun shining through the big windows.

When he was done with his shower and stepped outside he was nearly blinded.

"Hell! What is this? Sun? Since when is there sun in Forks?"

But then he thought of something.

Alice… she can't go to school if there's sun out.

He walked over to his nightstand and picked up his phone.

As he expected, Alice had texted and called him.

He read the texts and to make a long story short.

She pretty much said that he didn't need to pick her up and that she won't be coming to school today, because of the sun.

Silas pursed his lips.

No Alice?

He sent her a text and said he would come over after school and they could hang out.

Then he went downstairs and started to make his breakfast.

As he was eating it on the kitchen island he heard his phone buzz.

It was Alice who had responded.

She was very excited for him to come over later and asked if he wanted food.

Silas glanced at his plate and the sad sandwich and sent back.

"If it's not too much trouble."

Alice sent back that it was no trouble.

Silas saw this and felt that the sandwich in his mouth tasted a little better.

But in the end it was just cope. It still tasted just as dry and bland.

He then threw the plate in the sink and made his way out to his car. Not forgetting to grab his keys and phone.

As he sped down the country road he realized he would be a little early to Kate's house.

When he arrived he called Kate and asked if she was ready. She was not.

But she did say he could come inside. Her sister wasn't at home.

Silas pondered it for a second and came to the conclusion that it would be nicer to be in there than sitting here in the car and staring at… nothing.

So he got out and walked over to the front door.

According to what Kate's text said it should be open.

He reached out and pulled the handle, it was indeed open.

Walking inside he was met with a slight scent of perfume. It was the same as when he was here last time.

I guess that's what happens when three women live together.

He took a little tour around the first floor. He figured he could… they were good friends.

Mi casa es su casa… or whatever you say.

Just then he heard the door upstairs open and then steps came down the stairs.

Before he knew it Kate stood at the bottom of the stairs, with her bag.

She looked ready.

"Ready to leave?" Silas asked.

Kate nodded.

"Yeah."

They walked out and soon got to the car.

Kate then looked in the passenger seat but didn't see Alice.

"Where is Alice?" She asked.

Silas smiled and got in.

"Her family does outside activities when the sun comes out."

Kate who heard that raised an eyebrow. How nice.

When they both sat in the car and Silas pulled out, Kate asked.

"Did you take a little tour of my house?"

Silas nodded.

"Was I not allowed?"

Kate shook her head.

"No, you were… I just hope you didn't move anything cause then my sister might suspect something."

Silas who heard that raised an eyebrow.

"Suspect what? Are you not allowed to have friends over?"

Kate pouted.

"You know how she is, she will tease me… and say a bunch of embarrassing stuff."

"And I don't want her to tell my mom…" she continued.

Silas shook his head with a smile.

"Don't worry I didn't touch anything, I just looked around."

Kate nodded.

"Speaking of homes… you've been to my home twice, but I've never been to yours." She said.

Silas turned to her with a toothy grin.

"That's the best type of friendship… no?"

Hearing that Kate pouted.

Silas let out a chuckle.

"Okay, if you want we can do some day where you come over."

Kate smiled.

"Really?"

Silas hummed.

"Do you like video games?" He questioned.

Kate raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah… how did you know?"

Silas raised his chin slightly.

"A guess… and I saw the games in your living room."

Kate scoffed.

"Don't try to play mysterious."

Silas raised his shoulders in a "I don't know what you mean" fashion.

Before Kate could argue they turned into the parking lot of the school.

"Alright, ready for school?" Silas asked, averting the conversation.

Kate realized what he was doing but let him.

"Yeah."

They got out and headed inside, when they were about to separate Silas asked Kate.

"Do you want to eat lunch outside later since it's such nice weather?"

Kate thought about it for a second and nodded.

"Should we meet at the cafeteria?" She asked.

Silas nodded.

"Yeah, let's do that."

Silas headed towards math, his first class.

The class passed in a very boring manner since Emmett wasn't here.

After math he had English.

It also passed in a very boring manner. There was no Rosalie to ragebait.

Then lunch arrived.

Silas headed for the cafeteria, and just then he ran into Kate.

"Ohh… we met already." Silas said with a slight smile.

Kate nodded.

"Let's get our lunch."

Silas raised an eyebrow. Okay… no hello? No, happy to see you?

He followed Kate down the corridor in a sulking manner.

When they arrived at the cafeteria it seemed that more people than them had the same idea.

"Let's get in line." Silas said and walked over, Kate right behind him.

A minute or so later he finally got to buy his apple and juice.

Kate followed and bought a sandwich, apple and juice.

After Silas paid they walked outside, they came to a grass like lawn and sat down on one of the benches there.

"I must say, there isn't sun here very often but when it arrives, it's very nice." Silas said, took a bite of his apple and leaned his head back.

Kate nodded.

"Yeah…"

...

Enjoy. Mwah.
