Chapter 73 - Chimpanzee

Alice took the lead and walked inside.

Silas locked the car and followed.

As they stepped inside Silas felt the enticing scent of food.

He couldn't help but smack his lips, the saliva glands in his mouth were watering.

After taking off their shoes they made their way upstairs, following the scent.

As they stepped into the kitchen Silas saw Esme mixing something in a bowl.

"What you makin'?" Silas asked as he walked up beside her.

"I'm making dessert, since you and Bella are coming over."

Silas smiled.

Just as he was about to turn around Esme spoke again.

"Would you like to eat the leftover batter?"

Silas thought about it and nodded.

"Sure." He walked over and sat down at the kitchen island to wait.

A few minutes later Esme was done, and just then Alice arrived with Rosalie.

Esme gave him the bowl with batter and a spoon.

Just then Rosalie spoke out.

"Esme, are we certain about Bella…?" Roslie asked with some dissatisfaction.

Esme picked up an onion and started to peel it.

"What do you mean, Rosalie?"

Rosalie frowned.

"You know what I mean, she's human…"

Silas felt that drama was brewing so he took another spoonful of batter.

Just then Alice sat down next to him, clearly she was also going to spectate.

"She's Edward's mate." Esme responded to Rosalie.

Rosalie frowned, frustration clear on her face.

"So? She's still putting us all in danger."

Silas looked at Alice and she at him. This was getting good.

Silas turned to look back at the show and took another spoonful of batter.

"Rosalie stop! She's with Edward, and I didn't hear you complaining about Silas." Esme said, clearly a little pissed off.

Silas, who was catching strays, was confused. Who? Me?

Esme turned to him.

"Sorry Silas, I didn't mean anything by it."

Silas nodded.

"It's fine, I get it."

Rosalie rolled her eyes.

"He's different, and you know it."

Esme split the onion hard, which made a loud sound.

"Stop! You just don't like her." Esme retorted.

Hmph. Rosalie crossed her arms.

"Maybe, but it doesn't mean I'm wrong."

Just then Esme and Rosalie turned to look outside.

"They're here." Esme said.

"We'll speak about this later." She continued.

Rosalie wrinkled her nose in disgust.

Silas who took the last spoonful of batter was confused.

Why is Rosalie so disgusted with Bella?

Esme noticed he was done with the batter and took the bowl.

You could tell she was slightly upset about the argument with Rosalie.

Everyone heard the conversation between Bella and Edward get louder and louder, closer and closer.

Esme looked towards the door opening, smiled, and then gave Rosalie a glare.

Don't speak!

Rosalie rolled her eyes in response.

Just as Bella passed the corner Esme spoke.

"Here comes the human."

Bella had her usual awkward expression.

Alice got up and walked over with a smile.

"Hello, Bella, are you hungry?"

Bella hesitated.

"I ate before I came here…"

Rosalie scoffed.

"Why not just throw all this out!?"

Hearing Rosalie's curse, and how she picked up one of the bowls he got nervous.

"Hey! Hey! Hey! I still wanna eat!"

Rosalie stopped, then mumbled as she put the bow down.

"At least one knows how to be grateful."

Bella but her lip.

"It… 'cause I know you don't eat."

Esme watched her get more and more excited and comforted her.

"Don't worry, we understand, Silas will eat it."

Bella glanced over at Silas who flashed her a smile.

Is he human?

"Isn't he a vampire?"

Esme shook her head.

"He is something else, but you will have to ask him."

Bella nodded.

Edward then stepped up and grabbed her arm.

"Let's go, I'll show you around."

Bella nodded and followed along.

Alice gave a slight wave and smiled.

Silas just shook his head. At least Rosalie didn't throw out his food.

"See? What did I say!?" Rosalie looked at Esme.

Esme shook her head.

"Enough! She meant well."

Rosalie scoffed and responded.

"You're just showing favoritism to Edward."

Esme ignored her and went back to cooking. Let the clown jump around.

Rosalie obviously noticed what she did and frowned in anger, she burst out of the kitchen, pushing Emmett who just appeared out of the way.

"Hey? What…"

"Shut up!" With that Rosalie stormed off.

Emmett looked confused and walked over to Silas.

"What happened?"

Silas yawned.

"She got into an argument with Esme about Bella and her being a human."

Emmett sighed and sat down.

"She needs to calm down."

Silas nodded.

"Sure, but she still just cares about her family and safety."

Hearing that Emmett just sighed again.

Alice sat down on the other side of him.

"Think positive. The food is now all yours." Alice said.

Silas nodded.

"You're right, as usual."

Alice smiled.

"Hehe, no, just an observation."

A couple of minutes later they saw a man with a woman on his back jumping past the window like a monkey.

Emmett looked at it with interest.

"Who would've thought that gloom and doom guy could come up with something that remotely looks like fun?"

Silas and Alice both let out a suppressed chuckle. Esme, who was nearly done with the food, just smiled at the scene.

She liked to see her children happy, even if it might put them in a little danger.

A few minutes later the food was done, and just as Silas was about to dig in, Edward and Bella came back.

It seems they'd had enough fun.

They also sat down at the dinner table, albeit completely in their own world.

Silas completely ignored this, he was too into the food. And Alice didn't pay much attention either.

She wanted to see if Silas could eat all of this.

It was previously planned for both Silas and Bella, but now it's just Silas.

Can he eat this addition? Doubtful? Where is it all supposed to go?

"Oh, he starts with chicken, rice."

"Wow, that's pasta with tomatoes, now down"

Alice started to commentate, but she didn't know the names of the dishes, just what they were made of.

She slowly got louder and louder, and soon Emmett joined in.

The noise attracted not only the attention of Edward and Bella, but also Jasper and Ella.

Slowly the food on the table disappeared, the expression on Bella's face grew more and more unnatural.

He can't be human? Right?

Silas grabbed one of the baguettes and tore off a piece, then dipped it in the soup before shoving it in his mouth.

About half of the dishes were now gone, just like that.

Silas turned his attention to the other half.

I'm not done!

...

Enjoy. Mwah~
