"What is happening?" Alice asked Silas as they approached the stairs.
"I don't know…" Silas said.
Just then Mr. Banner approached and pointed them towards the gym.
"Walk orderly, don't make trouble, and when you arrive at the gym, sit down calmly and don't make trouble."
The Silas trio nodded obediently and headed towards the gym.
A few minutes later they walked inside, luckily it was still quite empty so they could find their desired spots.
As they sat down in the back of the bleacher which had a good view Kate spoke.
"I wonder if this has anything to do with the recent string of murders."
Silas touched his chin.
"Yes, I think this might be an announcement of a curfew, and possible cautionary measures to stay safe."
Alice, who was sitting to his right, was a little jumpy.
After all they as vampires had always hid well, they had never been this close to being discovered.
She was scared of the consequences if they truly were discovered.
Silas noticed this and reached out to grab her hand.
Alice looked at him.
They locked eyes and feeling Silas's reassuring gaze, Alice calmed down and smiled.
She then leaned in and placed a light kiss on his cheek.
Just then the rest of the Cullens walked in, they quickly spotted them and walked over.
They took the empty seats right in front.
"Brother, do you know the reason for all this ruckus?" Emmett asked Silas as he sat down.
Silas shrugged his shoulders.
"Not sure, but we do have an idea."
The Cullens and Bella all looked at him.
Spit it out!
Silas rolled his eyes. Don't be so anxious, I'm building suspense.
"We think it has to do with the recent murders, and that this might be a briefing of a curfew and precautionary measures you should take to stay safe."
Rosalie and Jasper, the only ones of the Cullens here who usually used their brains, put on a thoughtful expression.
"It does seem possible." Jasper said uncertainly.
Rosalie nodded in agreement.
As they were discussing what this unusual gathering was for, more and more students started to pile in.
And after a few minutes the gym was packed.
Seeing this one of the police with a mustache walked into the middle of the hall.
He grabbed a microphone connected to the gym's speaker system and started to speak.
"Hello. I'm Chief of Police, Charlie Swan."
"You are probably wondering what you're all doing here today?"
He took a seconds pause, and the students all nodded.
"I'm here to announce that we are going to enforce a curfew for everyone below the age of 18, adults are also recommended to abide by this."
The students all started to groan and question the decision.
"Calm down, calm down!"
"We have our reasons."
"We also want you to be cautious about strangers and keep out of the woods."
This time the gym was silent. Charlie nodded.
"I guess you've all heard about the murders in the area?"
"We are doing this to minimize the risk for you to get killed."
The students started to murmur to the people beside them.
Charlie handed over the mic to the principal and walked out of the gym.
The principal then held a little speech of his own, about safety and the importance of abiding by the rules.
A few minutes later and he was finally done.
Slowly the students, guided by the teacher, walked out.
Silas, Alice and Kate all stayed behind, that way they didn't need to squeeze with the crowd.
When most had left the gym, they stood up and followed them out.
It seemed there were a few other smart people who used their method.
"We missed our first class." Kate said as they headed towards the school's main building.
Silas yawned.
"Yeah, lucky us."
Kate glanced at him. Is this an A-student?
Silas noticed her gaze and scoffed
"Don't look at me like that, I'm just happy we just had to sit around and relax this early in the morning."
Kate shook her head. Unbelievable.
"What part of that whole thing did you find relaxing?"
"The curfew? Or the killer?"
Silas kissed his teeth.
"The killer, definitely."
Kate rolled her eyes and turned the other way, she didn't wanna listen to this idiot's ramblings anymore.
Alice saw this and chuckled.
"It seems you made her mad."
Silas shrugged his shoulders.
"Seems so."
"Or she's just nervous because a supposed killer is running loose." Silas followed up with a thoughtful expression.
Alice nodded in agreement.
"Hmm, yes, it might just be that."
Alice slapped his arm lightly.
"Ouch!" Silas made an exaggerated groan.
"That hurt…"
Alice rolled her eyes.
"Here." She leaned in quickly and gave him a kiss, then walked off.
She had class now.
Silas smiled triumphantly as he walked to his own locker.
The rest of the day passed in a flash.
Class went smoothly, nothing difficult.
Lunch passed in a similar fashion.
Kate was no longer mad at him when lunch came around.
Then he had the last two classes of the day.
"Ahh~ finally this day is over." Silas muttered as he walked up to his locker.
He couldn't help but feel slightly happy every time he walked out of school and the day was over.
It was like a slight dopamine rush.
After putting in his books he closed the locker.
Just then he felt someone hug him from behind.
"Alice, is that you?"
"No."
"Really?"
"No."
Silas couldn't help but let out a chuckle.
Alice let go of his waist and instead grabbed his arm.
"Are you ready?"
Silas nodded.
"Yeah, also… when was the curfew?" Silas asked.
Alice looked over.
"Eight pm… why do you ask?"
Silas smiled.
"I guess I'll have to drive you home before that then."
Hearing that Alice frowned in displeasure and pouted her lips.
"Don't be silly." She said and pitched his waist.
Silas flinched. It didn't really hurt, but he had to play along.
Soon they arrived outside, Kate was quicker than them this time, which was a rare scene.
Silas opened the car door for Alice with an exaggerated gesture.
"My lady."
Alice looked away, she was still playing angry from his previous statement to drive her home before eight.
She wasn't really mad, which could be seen from the twitching of her mouth.
After closing her door, Silas then walked over to his side and got in.
"Everyone ready?"
No answer. Guess so then.
He slowly started to drive, Alice reached over to the radio and turned up the volume.
A few minutes later they arrived at Kate's house.
"Be safe you two, don't get killed without me." Kate said as she stepped out of the car.
Silas smiled.
"Don't worry, we'll be safe."
Alice hummed.
"See you tomorrow, Kate!" She yelled out the window as Kate walked inside.
Silas put the car in drive and looked over at Alice.
"Now it's just us."
Alice met his gaze and rolled her eyes.
Why make it sound so ominous?
...
Enjoy. Mwah~
