"Those two brothers are a real pain in the ass, it's all their fault that they made this stupid–" Before I could finish, Daki put a finger to my lips as if I said something forbidden.
"You can't say that about the founding fathers, Namo-Kun~" She giggles before leaning closer, "They might be watching this very moment and you wouldn't even know."She says with a teasing whisper.
Just the thought of some ghosts or spirits watching me gives me the creeps. "Whatever, I just want to go home so I can go to sleep," I say with a sigh.
As I try to walk away, Ms. Asami grips my shoulder. For someone who seems very quiet and surprisingly pretty small, her grip on my shoulder is absolutely strong, almost monstrous.
"This is your new home. Once you get recruited, there's no going back to your old life ever again." Ms. Asami said with a soft yet authoritative tone. "You don't understand, my whole life is back at home! I'm sorry, but I refuse to be in the defense league."
I tried to break from her grip, but all 3 of the samurai held me back, and they did NOT let me go. "Namo man, it's for your own good! You were chosen for a reason. When you're in the big leagues like us, it's because you possess something great within you!" Shiro yelled out to me.
Those words made me falter significantly, and I finally stopped struggling. "The hell's that supposed to mean…? Are you saying I have some sort of superpower or something…?" I say coldly, still not facing them. I was definitely heated and didn't want to hear a word from them.
Daki leans down and looks at me with her usual bubbly expression, "Well, not powers per se, more like a future ability that can be absolutely useful in the league~" With this information, my heart began to pound out of my chest. "What happens if I refuse to join the league?"
Suddenly, all of their faces turned cold and serious. "Then we'll really take you as a criminal for refusing to defend the people of the village. If anything… you'll be marked as a traitor of the Shakaromi Oath." Said Ms. Asami, hand on the handle of her blade.
On one hand, I don't want to serve in the defense league because they pretty much dragged me out of my house. On the other hand, if I don't serve in the defence league, I might be thrown in the slammer for good. With a deep sigh, I finally speak up…
"When do I start my training?"
