"I will be saying goodbye to my friends?"
Kaden had asked that question a few days ago, his small brow furrowed with confusion as he looked up at Mommy and Mr. Czar.
They had sat him down gently to explain that he would be leaving his preschool and daycare in Ougena behind. Mr. Czar had found a new school for him in Granavilés, one with bigger playgrounds and new friends to meet.
But for Kaden, the thought of leaving the familiar behind was daunting.
He loved Granavilés. The headquarters always felt like a castle and everyone there was kind and welcoming to him and Mommy. The bedroom was spacious, the food delicious, and there were housekeepers and a chef to take care of everything.
Still, the idea of saying goodbye to the friends he had grown up with, the teachers who comforted him when he scraped his knee, and the routines that made him feel safe, it was all harder than he expected.
