Chapter 21 - Wizards/witches/vampires

Enid/Wednesday room

Wednesday had the open book on her left hand, the thick book covered in black leather still on her hold while she held her arm up in front of Dante.

"Ater atra atrum" She said as Dante's eyes were coveted in jet black until nothing could be seen far from the black cover.

"So?"

"Can't see at all, and leaves a strange sensation." Dante said to the girl in front of him.

"Aspicio." She said and the black cover over his eyes crumbled like paper until it disappeared like dust on the air.

"So... are you going to explain how did you get your hands on a spellbook?" Dante said while Wednesday kept reading of the thick book.

"It's a gift from my grand mother Hester." She said as she put down the book and standing up from her chair and taking some distance from the boy.

"Don't you have any spells to attack?" Dante said grabbing the book and passing through the pages.

"Try the lighting one." She said stopping him midway, pointing at a spell in the middle.

"Tonitrus..."

"Cast a bolt of lightning on the user's hand, the blue sparks will cause anyone included the user a paralysis in the part where they hit, it's recommended to be used with a distance enhancing words like 'spatium', even after the raw power of the lighting casted is weakened, the effect is still strong." Dante said reading from the book and putting it down.

"Try it." He said standing in front of Wednesday.

"Spatium Tonitrus." She said raising her hand to the boy, a blue lightning spark appearing on his chest which made the sound of breaking glass as space shifted, the sparks landing over his shoulders and arms.

"Well they aren't like electricity where they're really hot, but they do leave a lingering stunning effect." The inmortal said raising his left hand which was trembling in short spans.

"So if I do it without that distance, that means I should be able to use it like a punch?" Dante asked raising his fist, which after 15 seconds stopped moving.

"I suppose."

"Tonitrus!" He yelled as he punched the air, and the only thing that happened was Enid's laughing in the background as she recorded the whole thing.

"Why didn't it work?" Dante asked with disappointment, already wondering that only psychics could do it.

"You said it wrong, pass the page."

After Wednesday words, Dante passed to the next page which had a text long text.

"To-ni-trus. The punch must be first raised as you spell to, then you'll hold it with the ni, and finally one moment before landing the caster must say trus."

"That is the perfect casting, which will not only enhance the user's control over magic for a short time after use but will also not waste as near much stamina from the user, there's also the variation called fragore tonitrui, this would cause a much stronger clash of lightning and cannot be combined with any distance enhancing words."

"That's pretty awesome, did your grandma have a reason to give something so powerful as a spellbook to you?" Dante said closing the book and handing it to the girl.

"She told me I should keep the Frump tradition and become a witch, a path my mother didn't take."

"And you clearly couldn't say no to a way to not be like your mother." Dante said leaning on the wooden wall, the smile on his face was one which only Wednesday gets to see often, one that said he knew exact things not a lot of people would see.

"And because my grandma is speaking the truth, a legacy of witches cannot end because Evermore turned every outcast into a herd trying to live as normies." Wednesday said tapping the book, her words were accurate, even in the past, outcast kept molding themselves into normie societies, the small groups that didn't were mostly extremist who seeked normie society gone, and both end were as bad as the other in Wednesday eyes.

"Well yeah I also prefer the outcast life over normie one, because throwing around lighting barehanded isn't something a normie can do."

"You just said the worst example." Wednesday replied.

"..."

"Also Wednesday... is there a way to change the lighting colour's?"

...

...

...

"Oh my little vyper, as viciously looking as ever, so tell us, how's Nevermore treated you so far?" Gomez asked with his left hand fingers interlocked with Morticia Addams, both of them having raised lips of happiness and maybe nostalgia as they both were in front of Wednesday, who in the contrary to her parents, looked like her mood worsened by her parents appearing.

And obviously because Dante didn't have much to do more than wandering around watching happy families reunite, he watched the only gloomy family reunite.

"I've been stalked, hunted and attempted to murder, I may add I've been tracking monsters too." Wednesday replied.

"Ah, Nevermore, never fails to be a lovely place for us outcasts, doesn't it cara mia?" Gomez said staring with loved embedded on his eyes at the only person who could bring him to be like that.

"Yes, querido, eventually I knew you'd grow roots for this place, it brings the best out of us all, and surely it's the best place for someone to become social." Morticia said the last with a smile as she stared back at the inmortal boy who was sitting on a nearby empty table.

"Why act so surprised with me having a friend? Is Thing not updating you my every move?" Wednesday said, making both parents look at eachother, to think Thing lost his fingers already.

"How... how is he?"

"Fine, but next time you try controlling me again. It'll be the only time you receive something from me, and it'll be their head dissected." Wednesday replied, the threat didn't do much as both parents looked relieved after knowing about Thing's safety.

"Won't you introduce us your...?" Morticia said leaving the lingering question in the air.

"Friend." Wednesday instantly cut her off before Morticia could say something that would have them dragged out of school grounds by the goth girl.

Wednesday looked back at Dante who was now trying to look like he wasn't just hearing the conversation.

"Come." And so he did as he immediately stood up and walked next to her.

The teenager looked over to the family, the couple who where happily together and the small kid next to them, the genes of his father were obviously already showing, and now Dante could tell, the mother looked like if Wednesday dared to smile more than once in a month.

"Hi my name is Dante, I'm Wednesday's friend and ride or die whenever she finds herself jumping to trouble." I said raising my hand towards the man in front of me, who didn't waste time to smile at me warmly, and then give me one of the hardest handshakes ever, my hand bones crushing together.

I only swatted my hand a bit after the handshake, the sound of my bones going back into place and healing making the small kid next to Morticia go eyes wide.

"You a charm in you isn't it boy? I see why our daughter would be fond with your presence, we hoped that'd happen sooner or later." Morticia said etching the teenager next to his daughter.

'He's undeniably strong, and he only knows he's strong.' She thought watching how Dante keep Gomez stare until the man decided to look away after getting bored, the small intimidation display was even diffused, it was ignored.

"Wow, can you teach me how to do that?" Pugsley asked watching Dante with a face of awe.

"Do what?"

"Your hand, last time my father did it I had Wednesday piecing together the bones before putting my hand together."

"Well sorry but that's a thing only I can do, a werewolf can't teach you how to wolf out." Dante said repeating a term he heard a lot from Enid.

"Hmmm, then what are you?" The blunt boy asked with a creepy smile.

"Immortal, and vampire too but I'm still deciding which one sounds cooler to say first." Dante replied, and instantly he felt a stab found on his side, the tactical knife deep on his guts to the hilt, whereas the small boy only kept his smile.

"Pugsley! Don't hurt your sister's friend!" Morticia quickly scolded the boy, boy who now looked even more amazed as he felt like the only one who was watching how Dante didn't even showed a ounce of discomfort.

"Oh don't worry miss Addams this is actually pretty close of how Wednesday treated me the first time we met." Dante said as the knife was pulled out by his closing wound.

"Well we're certainly happy our daughter got strong friends to back her up in the good scenarios she will find herself." Gomez said with a relaxed smile as he put his hand on Dante's shoulder, the familiarity Dante was feeling was odd, after living so long without even proper human touch, a fatherly pat on the shoulder was something he never experienced before.

"Yeah don't worry señor, your daughter is safe as long as I exist." Dante said with a respectful smile as he slightly patted Wednesday shoulder, to her discontent.

"I'll have a word with my parents, if I need your assistance I'll send Thing." She said making the inmortal boy turn around slightly disappointed, his ears picking up the conversation.

"So, were you going to tell me father has charges of murder?"

...

...

...

Dante was chilling in his dorm, Ajax and mostly everyone else was nowhere to be found, likely to be out with their families, but obviously he didn't have any family.

So only stared at a wall with a target, hitting the red dot in the middle repeatedly using golden needles, the lack of sight he had with his eyes closed only to make the process somewhat more entertaining.

Suddenly a knock on the door made him raise his head, immediately standing off his bed he opened the door to find Thing on the ground, urgently telling him something.

"Slow down Thing!" I yelled making the hand close in a fist scared before telling me again.

"Ugh sure they're all in jail the second they set foot in here, come on I believe at least Wednesday and her mother can be bailed out." Dante said picking up the hand, before closing the door behind me.

...

...

...

Wednesday believed one of the only perks about a school was the long distance between her and the relationship her parents were not shamed to shown even in front of her at a young age, kids often repulse kisses at their early stages, but Wednesday wished kisses was their limit instead of public indecency charges.

She only stared the bars with empty eyes, impossible for her to get her mind to think something while her parents were making out through the cell bars.

After a yime they all heard the sound of the door for the room opening, Sheriff Galpin standing there with a teenager next to him, both entering the room after 1 second of expectation brushed away.

"Well, times up lovebirds." Galpin said with a flat voice before opening Wednesday and Morticia cell.

"Sorry Mr.Addams but not matter the amount of gold I offered they simply didn't allow me to bail you out." Dante said towards the man clinging to his wife's hand before being she was pulled away by Wednesday.

"Sheriff." Wednesday said before going away, but she was stopped by Dante's hand on her shoulder, who whispered into her ear.

"Monster related or Crackstone related or family related?" Dante said to her ear, which made her stare at him for seconds before whispering to him.

"Last one and possibly the middle one." She whispered back before turning, the family case she's involved and surely it had something with the murder case she talked earlier with her parents.
