Chapter 26 - Evil Outside

Wednesday sat down on the stairs, her eyes focused in the book resting on her lap, reading different notes like it was a biologic book.

Dante stood on the stairs, they were supposed to be training at the gym, since the second part of the tournament was today, they took the change to go look for Faulkner's book containing all the information he gathered from outcast races.

"Fester aren't you worried someone might recognize you?" Dante asked looking down at the man struggling with a hand around his neck.

"Gagh!" He only was able to make gutural sounds while the hand choked him, his eyes wife open.

"I agree..." Dante said sarcastically looking at Wednesday.

"And what about you?"

"The Hyde is a monster who only unlocks the transformation due to:traumatic event, hypnosis and chemical inducement." Wednesday said while she didn't stop reading a moment.

"So if anyone was to unlock the hyde's true nature they form a bond of a master and beast."

"Maybe that figure with my family is that master..." Dante said with a tone filled with thoughts, the revelation that he wasn't alone opened his mind a lot, the idea of someone like him, he already knew there could be more inmortals, like her.

But now after seeing that other one yesterday he started to wonder if all inmortals were related, and why there aren't a lot more, afterall the price of immortality in most media he has seen is watching the people around you die, but that would be solved by having a lot of loved one who are equally inmortal.

"Hmmm..." He let a sound from his throat while he started to lost himself in thoughts, the whole reason he has been so calm with this case was because a Hyde wasn't a match for him.

But if he found another inmortal, one who obviously would have more experience, knowledge and power, it means surely they know a way to counter him, that woman clearly had the intention of doing something with him.

"Dante." Wednesday spoke again putting a hand on the boy's shoulder, making him come back to reality to see the half annoyed girl.

"Don't think too much if it doesn't bring conclusions, we only need answers, the more you think the more questions you create." Wednesday said walking upstairs, no one should be outside since they're too busy getting ready for the tournament.

Dante looked down, his mind wondering about Wednesday words, not until Fester with Thing passed next to him was until he raised his head.

Walking upstairs, after passing Edgar Allan Poe statue, he snapped his fingers twice making the statue come back to it's original place, closing the gap.

"I have to tell you again Dante, sorry for not coming yesterday, but I thought the place was going to be filled with the popo." Fester said with an apologetic smile.

Dante smiled with a knowing smile as he turned to see Wednesday, who only nodded realizing what Dante was asking just by his glistening fangs.

Dante looked at Fester and talked confidently "You're going to br surprised today, you'll see me sparkling."

"HA THAT'S IT DANTE!" Fester yelled with the happiest smile, watching Dante supposedly create lighting without effort as he punched the gorgon on his chest.

The only reason he did that on the first place was because some gorgons are tougher than others; with their hands and nails being as tough as bronze, but in even rarer cases some have their entire body as tough as bronze.

Surely it wasn't intended to use electricity against someone with a skin as tough as the one of the material that transmite it better.

Dante looked down at the gorgon, the girl clenching in pain while she grabbed his abdomen with both hands, the pain combined with the feeling of his muscles tightening thanks to the electricity messing up her nerves.

"Enough?" Dante yelled before kicking the girl on the side, making her fly sideways until she hit a tree, and as strange as it may sound, the hit probably did more damage to Dante than her.

"Please..." The girl muttered in pain.

"Please what? Just say you're done." Dante said cutting whatever she wanted to say, and with the same speed he shut her, he ruined towards her, kicking her deeper into the tree.

Then he grabbed her by the shoulders making her stand up, her legs wobbly, but he only needed her up for a moment to attack her again.

"To!" He yelled as he got in a stance, like he was ready to hit her with the strongest right hook of his life.

"Ni!" He continued the chant, yellow sparks jumping from the gap between his fingers.

He finally moved his fist with an incredible speed, the entire body working into the move.

"I'm done!" The girl yelled with as the punch was about to strike.

"Trus!" Dante yelled, the punch creating enough lighting sparks to blind anyone looking, afterall he has mastered the chant until it became a perfect one-shot physical attack.

Everyone went silent, not a single soul dared said anything, someone the electric sparks surrounded the tree, and the only reason the silent broke was because of the same tree.

The sound of wood clenching together broke the silence as the tree fell down to the left.

And only then was when everyone was able to see, Dante had his had where the tree trunk was, and the girl was still standing on the same spot, without any injure on her face, the arm of Dante inches away of her cheek.

"You made me miss..." Dante whispered towards the girl as he looked at his arm, the only reason he hasn't moved it yet was because he missed a perfect chanted Tonitrus.

Those spells have a normal chant, then there are words one can say to give it different effects, but there's also what's called a "perfect" chant, one that has yo be strict steps without any change.

One must follow the steps required for each one, in the specific case of Tonitrus, it takes three steps, in the first one the user must get into an attacking stance as he says the first syllable, the path the attack will take must be obvious, in the second step he must leave the limb or part of the body that will land the attack still for 0.34 seconds as he says the second syllable, and for the last step he can finally attack, having to yell the last syllable two inches before hitting the objective.

If all these steps are done correctly, the attack will not only be stronger, it will also create a short span of time where the user overall magic output increases, it's one of the simplest and easist spells one can learn, with the only downside being the user heavily injuring oneself.

WIth the sole exception of Dante of course.

Dante walked away, he didn't need referee Vlad to tell him he has won.

He didn't think about the fight, neither he thought about the people cheering him as he sat next to Fester.

He finally seemed to pay attention to something as the Fester grabbed him by the shoulders, shaking him wildly with a smile.

"You're a spark! Like us!" Fester said as he looked back, his smile wide as Gomez also smiled.

"See that brother, this must the star of this generation!"

"Yes indeed, I'm proud of my little landmine for making acquaintance with such strong boy." Gomez replied.

"You're amazing big brother!" Pugsley said with a smiled filled with what could only be called admiration.

"Big brother?" Wednesday asked looking down at Pugsley, her tone flat, but everyone there noticed the inquiring tone for a pleasant answer, not an implication that Dante will be his brother in law.

"Well, yesterday he took me out to Jericho and showed me some things, for example I didn't know this place had an underground fight club!" Pugsley said with a wide smile, Dante was one of the few people who could bring out his open side, the inner self that was locked most of the time because of normie society norms.

Dante instantly looked at him and made him a sush sign with his finger, and Pugsley smile faltered.

"First rule" Dante said.

"Ah yeah! Right, I forgot!" Pugsley said finally remembering the first rule.

"That was the last fight?" Dante asked to Wednesday, the only time he cared about the tournament today.

"There's one more." Wednesday said as she pointed at the island.

Enid giving the asskicking of her life to a DaVinci right now, the boy was clearly struggling to control Enid, and had to rely on moving the environment to try and hit Enid.

The boy lifted a huge boulder and threw it at her, surely that could kill anyone, the werewolf limited herself to jump over the big boulder and narrow the distance between her and the boy.

And instead of hitting him once again, she used her claw-like nails to cut the wrists of the boy.

The DaVinci clenched instinctively, his hands being one of the most precious parts, because for DaVincis the hands are the most important part related to their telekinesis since it's the part of their body which control best their powers.

The boy looked terrified at his wrists and then at Enid, which met his ugly face with the ugliest of punches.

"Do you still have your doubts?" Dante asked Wednesday, and she begrudgingly looked at him with a small frown, clearly annoyed Dante was right and she wasn't.

"Yeah, she's 100% an alpha." Wednesday replied, Dante figured it out using context clues from before, how she is stronger, tougher and has sharper senses than other werewolves, all of that without even unlocking her transformation yet.

Larissa started talking about the last match tomorrow, how incredible it should be the fight between Enid and Dante, but Wednesday and Dante's mind was on another track.

Tonight they were heading out again to the Gates house at night, so at least no one could be coming.

Wednesday and Dante looked how the alpha girl opened without effort the shed door, the metal lock breaking like glass as the door swung open.

"I know Ajax would find that hot." Dante said teasingly, and immediately made the blonde girl blush.

"You should not let yourself be distracted that easily by comments about other people." Wednesday said scolding as she walked into the shed.

Enid made an annoyed frown, her cheeks were still red by the comment Dante said, and the only reason she didn't reply how Wednesday has rants to Thing about how strange and wonderful Dante ability is, but then say she's just scientifically surprised, because Dante was right there.

"You're not going in?" Dante asked Enid, who seemed to stay still for longer than required.

"Oh sorry I wasn't here for a moment." Enid replied, after Wednesday told her the biggest of her secrets, every interaction she sees of Dante and Wednesday makes her go crazy, and anything close to a question about it would make her nervous.

She promised Wednesday, and it wasn't just a promise between friends, it was a promise to a girl who has a box filled with torture tools.

Dante looked at Enid, clearly confused by the girl, and she turned around to start walking into the shed, because she knew she couldn't bear a questioning look without looking suspicious.

Dante followed inside, watching how Wednesday had another lock, this time it seemed like a trapdoor on the corner of the shed, it had three locks, and for the one who pays attention, it was obvious how the stainless steel locks and how they shined, these were new.

"Can you two be useful?" Wednesday said raising her head.

Dante didn't think about it as he reached for the locks, with a hand breaking each lock.

But Enid only looked how Wednesday started at Dante's face and then at his hands, and just now she realized, the girl who could lockpick most of the school clearly could open a simple lock without effort.

And just now Enid felt she's third-wheeling, she noticed how Wednesday was about to leave the dorm, so she asked to go out with her, Wednesday only seemed a bit annoying before saying ok, which was normal Wednesday behavior.

But she realized it could also be because she was in between the black cat and the fox.
