Dante looked up at the big crowd of people, somehow, the last part of the event was allowed for the public, it even was promoted by the mayor, surely it was a way to distract the public from the Hyde out there.
The police had almost emptied the town, it surely made easier the protection now that they had everyone gathered in the same place, including every kid in Nevermore.
"I don't understand how can you feel so calm about this..." Enid said with a nervous tone, she already felt a bit of anxiety for even joining this tournament, she didn't think she would get as far as she's done.
But Ajax encouragement and Wednesday reluctant praises about her strength made her felt like she had people backing her up, a group she could call a pack, even if none of them(including her) could turn into a wolf.
Dante looked down at his hands, tightening them into fist until his knuckles were white from the pressure.
"Enid, I want you to go all out on me, because I won't hold myself, of course I won't go for killing blows, but trust me that I crush your bones without a doubt." Dante said with a voice that lingered with a sense of anticipation.
Enid took a deep breath, she couldn't bring herself to understand why Dante still didn't care about hurting himself so much, but if that was his wish, she wasn't going be a bad friend and let him down.
"Trust me, I will not stop until one of us losses." Enid said with a comforting smile, a smile that later turned into a ferocious one, one that showcased her wild-side she never got the opportunity to touch, not until these days.
Dante looked around, his eyes only lingered once on the goth girl who stared at him with expectance, she just told him to not hold back at all, and that didn't mean physical wise, it meant magically wise.
Which Dante didn't understood why, magically wise he sucked, he had an output smaller than even a normie that never touched magic before, Wednesday spellbook talked about it, how children that had problem at birth would normally show that kind of problem.
It didn't mean Dante had a small magic pool, bragging aside he had an actually big pool for his age, which could either be explained by his vampiric side or excessive training he put himself these months.
In comparison, if Wednesday was the one who made the perfect chanted tonitrus, she would've blown up everyone looking, including herself, but that's an exaggeration, she does have a really high magic output.
"Everyone please cheer up the remaining two! Dante and Enid Sinclair!" Larissa Weems yelled, and everyone started applauding.
"A good violence act like if we were in Rome always bring the masses together." Dante said sarcastically.
"Well this is quite similar to some moments in history, in ancient Chine where they put werewolves and Vampires fight to the death, and the winner would get the medicine for silver poisoning they got earlier..." Enid said with cynic tone, a cynic tone that surely she took from Wednesday.
"Ready?" Vlad said appearing out of nowhere in between them, his eyes seemed filled with thrill.
"Yes sir." Dante said, turning to fully look at Enid with a smirk.
"I'm ready." Enid said, retrieving the look, her claw-like nails came out.
Some normies seemed to chatter amongst themselves, pickering about how the werewolf didn't transform, stupid comments one that doesn't fully understand outcast.
"Don't kill her." Vlad said as he turned into a bat and flew up into the tall trees.
Enid and Dante looked at each other, a feeling of competition and thrill for the fight was emerging from the heart's of two souls that never saw violence as a good thing, Dante who cared about life over anything, living in Nevermore sure changed him,
And on the other side Enid, whose kind soul would never hurt a fly, but now she realized maybe she didn't lack that hunting-thrilled side even her younger brothers showed already, maybe it was being held back by herself, by the expectations her family had on her.
Only now that she had Dante,Wednesday,Ajax,Yoko and everyone else that she felt free, free to let her nature out, not needing to met the expectations of a pack that didn't accept her for who she was.
"Begin!" Larissa yelled, and Dante immediately blocked maybe the strongest punch in his entire life.
Faster than a bullet and surely stronger than any animal on earth, Enid seemed to dissappear and on the other second she met Dante's crushed hand.
The boy smiled, this was the first time he even felt so much pressure, his hand didn't just crush, he knew that if he put all of his body into it, he would be in the ground like jelly.
"Mora." Dante said while he raised his hand, and Enid instincts told her what was going to happen next.
"Tonitrus!" Dante yelled his lungs out, and Enid already had her hand up expecting his punch, but her unprotected abdomen was met with a swift kick that sent her flying deeper into the forest.
Enid stood up, her uniform was teared apart, revealing a black uniform under the clothing, obviously the school would've provided them both a cloth under their regular uniform, so they wouldn't run naked if a Pyro used their fire on their clothing.
Dante rushed in front of her, he was slower, his reactions were slower, so he knew he needed to slow her down first before even thinking of winning.
He raised his hand for another punch, this time it was aimed at her solar plexus, Enid raised both hands like an x, and milliseconds before the punch her arms Dante whispered.
"Nunc." And somehow lightning sparks surrounded his hand, the imperfect normal chant, but Enid wasn't able to dodge, only tank the full hit with her arms.
She stumbled back a few meters, barely able to stand as her hands were shivering due to the electricity, but she was mostly confused.
'How did he manage to silent chant right there...?'
Enid wasn't stupid, she knew Dante surely learned with Wednesday some chants, but Enid witnessed most of Wednesday training, and after Enid told Wednesday how she should at least be silent if she was going to train at 3am, Wednesday told her hoe silent chanting requires decades to achieve.
So it was impossible for Dante to do it, so it must be related to the words he said earlier, maybe the first one delayed the tonitrus, and the one he said before was the release.
"That won't work twice..." Enid muttered.
"I don't need it to." Dante said rushing towards Enid, his leg raising as he was about to hit her on the side.
Enid raised her own leg, taking the hit with her leg without any issue, and then, for Dante's surprise, she threw her left hand up, her claw-like nails cutting him from the left side of his waist to the right side of his clavicle.
'Her willpower is amazing, that tonitrus was supposed to disable her movements in both arms.' Dante thought as he took a step back, a big one as he set 10 meters of distance between them.
He wasn't nowhere close to hand to hand with Enid, she was, even in her inexperience, the strongest among all.
This time Enid took the attacking position as she lunged foward, missing Dante's chest by an inch as he barely dodged her.
But she was faster in all aspects, she set a strong footing on the ground and she stepped right on Dante's foot, with boy trapped she started punching him, all the punches were brutal, the sounds of broken bones filled the place as Dante felt how even his brain spilled from his fragmented skull.
After 10 seconds of torture for Dante's healing Enid finally saw her window, and punched him on the chest, sending him flying.
Dante looked down while he was mid-air, the broken spine meant his brain couldn't send commands to his legs, and if they didn't stop him, he would surely fall once he was out of the white line.
'Clever...' He thought, his head pulling back as he already was thinking of a solution.
"Pulsus!" He yelled, and from his broken legs a weak red aura worked like a small bump, making him break the momentum charged by Enid's punch, making him fall meters nearby the water.
The line of vision between him and Enid was broken, but Dante knew the girl surely already had him located through smell.
He looked down at his body as everything healed back quickly, and then he looked at his bloody uniform.
Enid rushed towards where she just sent Dante flying, she knew if Larissa didn't yell that's done then it means he didn't cross the line.
She took a quick sniff of the air and identified where he was due to the strong smell of blood and his identifiable scent of well... blood.
As soon as she stopped she saw what was maybe the worst bait ever, his uniform, more specifically the tuxedo and white shirt on the ground.
"There!" The entire crowd yelled and pointed at a spot I the water.
She instantly turned to see Dante's head out in the water, a trail of blood surrounding the head.
She instantly jumped into the water and grabbed him by the head.
But she only lifted that, his head.
Enid saw the severed head and realized she was doubled up with the trap, she tried turning back quickly enough, but a hand grabbed her from below and dragged her deeper into the water.
She struggled, but she didn't have a good position, the water splashed for moments while Enid was pulled down.
And then it calmed down, only the trails of blood going up to surface were the proof of a battle underwater.
More and even more blood, inhumane liters of blood, before Dante came out of the water, both arms missing, and the lack of even the black clothing the school provided.
As soon as he got out his arms came back too, his physique out in a display for the world to see, more specifically girl who were already recording, for Wednesday annoyance.
And some meters away, Enid also came out of the water, her entire body soaked wet, and another interesting fact was the arm of Dante that was on her mouth.
She spit out the arm, looking at Dante with could only be called with an animalistic look.
"You don't look so pretty anymore do you...?" Dante said teasingly, but he also felt the same way, this was the first time after he got out of that place that he lost a hand to hand fight, rather he even lost his hands.
"Be prepared." Enid said with a tone that revealed how thrilled she was, her full filing the fight was being.
"Look at you..." Dante said as he got into a stance, his left hand was down, and his right hand up,ready for any attack, if he was attacked on the right side, he was barely some meters away from losing, since just over the small river there was the line.
Enid lunged foward, Dante took a step back and threw Enid into the water again, throwing punches.
The water seemed to boil with the hear of the fight and rightly so, Enid jumped out of the water, she seemed to lose control of her body and Dante quickly followed her out.
"Electricity and water go by pair." Dante said hitting Enid on the gut, this time, Enid reaction was slower, only able to block rather than dodge.
Enid and Dante exchanged looks and Dante attacked again giving her a headbutt straight on the forehead, making her stumble back.
Dante didn't let her have a breath as he jumped over her, throwing her down with him to the ground, their bodies now covered in mud as he tried to choke her using his forearm.
Enid circulation was quickly blocked, and her instincts started to fail, normally most outcast lack the adrenaline normies have, but in the werewolves case it's reversed.
They have a lot more than humans, just that it's only produced when they're in a point where the body can't give more of themselves, it's quite strange to see a werewolf in modern society to get to that point.
But Enid met that point today, as her heart pumped blood like crazy, and when Dante thought he had her completely under his mercy, his arm was off his body once again.
Dante took a step back, looking at the enraged Enid, who only turned around to attack him again, he barely dodged her hands, but he didn't thought she would Hite him on the shoulder.
Her teeth sunk into his body and the girl got into all four, quickly rushing towards the line.
"Tonitrus!" Dante yelled as he hit the girl on the side, it may have had an effect, but the girl ignored it as she kept running.
Dante now looked desperate for the first time, and he grabbed the ground with his hand, but he only did that for a second before losing his grip again.
He looked at Enid, and how she jumped over the water, passing the line with Dante still on her mouth.
She let go of his shoulder and raised both hands, but instead of being a manner because she just won, Dante had to stop her hands from sinking down into his chest.
"Enid!" Dante yelled, and the girl finally seemed to realize what happened.
"Ugh..." She let a sound of disgust seeing the boy under her, and the she looked up, her ears were immediately overloaded by the amount of cheering people.
"That was a fair fight..." Dante muttered, half of his body was covered by the blood that came out of his shoulder bite, his back had some mud, and the most obvious thing was that his clothes were missing from his torso.
Enid finally got into her feet again, the feeling of success, the feeling of everyone cheering for her, she even saw Wednesday who was applauding among the crowd.
With the brightest of all smiles she looked at everyone and yelled.
"I'm a wolf!"
