Chapter 29

Cthulhu World 2

Arthur was transported to a new world…

and a new journey.

After losing consciousness while crossing the dark expanse of space, Arthur slowly opened his eyes.

The first thing that greeted him was daylight—and the sound of a city teeming with life.

He pushed himself up slightly and looked around.

It was a city… new, yet strangely familiar at the same time.

Its streets, its buildings, even the scent of the air… awakened an old sensation within him.

In his previous life, Arthur had roamed countless cities and countries, seen innumerable faces.

So his sense of familiarity was not without reason.

Could it be…?

Have I truly been transported to my own world this time?

But my world contains nothing supernatural…

His thoughts stopped abruptly.

He noticed two things at once.

First:

The people around him were dressed in old-fashioned clothing, as though time had rolled back decades.

Second—

The sharp blast of a car horn, piercing and harsh.

Arthur turned toward the source of the sound.

A car was hurtling toward him at insane speed.

He tried to move.

To jump.

To step aside.

But—

A horrifying pain struck his mind suddenly, as if a nail had been driven into his skull.

His body froze in the middle of the road.

People began shouting, pointing at him, demanding that he move, but Arthur could not shift a single inch.

The car drew closer…

Only a few steps separated it from crushing him.

And suddenly—

A middle-aged man rushed forward with astonishing force, grabbed Arthur in an instant, and leapt away from the car's path.

His movement was fast…

too fast to come from an ordinary human.

Arthur opened his eyes in shock and looked at the man who had saved him.

A man in his forties.

He wore striped black-and-white trousers, a white cotton shirt, and over it a fitted black coat topped with a long vest reaching his knees.

As for his face…

it might have seemed intimidating to those who feared sharp features.

Yet he was not ugly.

On the contrary—

his handsomeness was evident, and his elegance unmistakable.

The man looked at Arthur and said calmly:

"Are you alright, boy?"

Sensation gradually returned to Arthur's body.

Damn the system…

and damn this cursed transfer.

Arthur pressed his hand against the ground firmly, leapt into the air, and landed steadily on his feet.

The man's eyes widened in surprise at his movement…

and that surprise deepened when he noticed Arthur's strange appearance.

A system window appeared before Arthur's eyes.

| Transfer successful.

| Congratulations, Host.

| You have been transported to the world of

| The Call of Cthulhu.

| The mission will be assigned at the appropriate time. |

Arthur looked around once more.

The place resembled Earth…

but older.

The clothing, the vehicles, the behavior of the people—everything suggested a bygone era.

What?

Am I in the year 1900?

| Approximately.

| You are in the world of Cthulhu.

| Specifically, the year 1927. |

Arthur exhaled quietly, pushed these thoughts aside, and turned back to the man who had saved him, offering a polite smile.

"Thank you, sir, for saving me.

I was somewhat distracted, and what you did was truly heroic.

Without you, I would not be alive right now."

Of course, that was nonsense.

If the car had struck his body…

the car would have shattered before he suffered a scratch.

But Arthur deliberately displayed gratitude.

The man smiled with mild embarrassment.

"There's no need for all that, boy. I only did what anyone would have done.

Are you hurt? Do you need a doctor?"

Arthur smiled, then noticed the stares of the people around him.

Some were staring at his long hair.

Others were laughing at his strange clothes.

Some whispered suspiciously.

I need to change my appearance immediately.

I look like a fool in their eyes.

If I want to complete the mission, I must blend in… not stand out.

Before he could finish his thought—

Diiing

| Sub-mission of the main quest:

| Adapt to this world.

| Learn its culture, customs, and fundamentals.

| Do not be a stranger… be one of them.

| Time limit: One day.

| Success: 100 points.

| Failure: ???? |

The window appeared before him.

Even before the mission appeared, I was thinking the same thing…

But damn it, System—how do you assign a mission without explaining the main one?

Are you stupid or what?

| ….. |

Damn it.

Arthur raised his gaze to the man and realized that the opportunity stood directly before him.

He bowed slightly, placing his hand over his chest, wearing a courteous smile.

"Sir,

I have come from a distant place, and I possess no knowledge of this city's culture or customs.

Would you permit me to take a portion of your precious time to teach this young man some of the basics?"

The man smiled thoughtfully.

A polite boy…

Despite his strange appearance and injured eye, he is courteous and brave.

He was not shaken by an accident that nearly claimed his life… a strong mind.

Then he said:

"Of course, why not?

By the way… my name is Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

And you?"

Arthur smiled calmly.

"Call me Narin.

Arthur Narin.

A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Howard."

Howard murmured the name briefly, then smiled.

"Follow me, Arthur."

He moved forward, and Arthur walked behind him quietly.

Moments later—

They entered a men's clothing shop together.
