"A giant serpent summon?"
Hiruzen Sarutobi, who was already fully occupied besieging the salamander, felt a throbbing headache.
Why are these summons appearing all at once like this?
"Wait!"
Hiruzen's eyes suddenly widened in shock.
"Hanzō of the Salamander... the Serpent-Cursed Soldiers created through experiments... and now a giant serpent? Could it be...?"
"Orochimaru... he isn't dead?!"
The more Hiruzen thought about it, the more certain he became of his deduction. Orochimaru has betrayed Konoha!
He and Hanzō, the two most poisonous men in the world, have joined forces like a pair of vile villains!
"Dammit!" Hiruzen roared through gritted teeth.
"Order Danzo to send his men to eliminate the giant serpent immediately! There is not a second to lose!"
Under normal circumstances, Hiruzen would never have wanted to expose the existence of "Root."
But at this critical moment, every second of delay meant more casualties and destruction for the village.
Instantly, the two great military forces of Konoha mobilized in full force, throwing everything they had into battling the two powerful summons.
But right then...
"Go."
Aoi Ren slapped his palm against the ground.
A massive Golden-Winged Roc took flight, soaring straight toward the Hokage's Office and drawing gasps of astonishment from everyone below.
"ANOTHER ONE?!"
Hiruzen was grinding his teeth so hard they nearly shattered.
Do these people run a zoo?! How can they possibly possess so many powerful summons?!
"Wait... that one looks different from the other two," noted the White Fang of Konoha, raising an eyebrow in suspicion. Something about it felt distinctly off.
"You're right. The first two were only interested in destruction," added Minato Namikaze, trying to disperse the poison mist with his still-unpolished Rasengan.
"But this one... it looks like it has a specific target."
"A target?"
Hiruzen froze for a split second, then shrieked in realization. "That direction is the Hokage Residence... Dammit! The Scroll of Seals!?"
"RETURN THERE AT ONCE!"
It was only now that Hiruzen realized they had fallen into a trap.
And he was absolutely certain: Orochimaru is definitely alive!
He had known for a long time that Orochimaru coveted the Scroll of Seals.
The man had even sneaked in to peek at it several times, learning a handful of forbidden techniques.
But regrettably... it was already too late.
"CRASH!"
Golden talons tore the entire roof off the building. Another claw snatched the Scroll of Seals, enshrined deep within the secret chamber.
An ANBU operative who tried to intercept was impaled through the heart by the creature's sharp beak, then tossed aside like trash.
Watching from a distance, completely powerless to stop it, Hiruzen felt like he was going mad.
It was a classic case of being too far away to help in time.
He could only watch helplessly as the Roc flew out of the village.
"CHASE THEM! BRING IT BACK NO MATTER WHAT!"
That scroll contained not only the Forbidden Techniques developed by the Second Hokage, but also Bloodline Limit techniques such as Izanami and Wood Style: Deep Forest Emergence.
These were the very foundation and heritage of Konoha!
If those secrets were leaked, the consequences would be catastrophic!
But suddenly, all three creatures vanished simultaneously. The salamander, the giant serpent, and the Golden-Winged Roc — all disappeared instantly into thin air.
"They canceled their summoning contracts!" Hiruzen gnashed his teeth in frustration.
"They may have dispelled the summons, but they can't take the Scroll with them! It must be hidden somewhere nearby!"
"SEARCH EVERYTHING!"
"Search every single place that bird flew over! Dig up the earth if you have to, but find that Scroll!"
But this effort was destined to be futile...
---
"There you are, little Ren?"
A nurse rushed over in a fluster, tucking the blanket around him securely.
"Some rogue ninja attacked the village earlier, but thank goodness, it's all settled now."
"What's that you're holding?" She asked curiously, eyeing the massive bundle of scrolls clutched against his chest.
"These... are gifts that someone gave to me..."
"Oh well, you are just loved by everyone, aren't you!" She smiled and turned away.
It was normal for Aoi Ren to receive small gifts frequently.
No matter how hard she thought, she would never guess that the scroll held tightly in his arms was none other than the greatest treasure of Konoha: The Scroll of Seals.
