Chapter 017: Avengers!... Assemble.

"Honestly, I feel like the universe is bullying me, but I have no proof for my argument." Adrian spoke with an impassive expression as he looked at the sky. From several distances away, using his god eyes, he saw five out-of-control planes heading toward New York.

'Come on, you're going to tell me this isn't strange? The moment I get just a little stronger, suddenly an event straight out of a Superman movie happens!? Do you think I'm stupid, universe!?' Adrian growled in his mind.

He knows it's a comic cliché that when a hero or villain gains a bit of power, they must demonstrate their feats to impress everyone, but this is reality! It shouldn't be this predictable! Not to mention that this universe is an amalgam of movies, animations, and comics—something like this shouldn't happen.

"If no hero shows up to help, I'm going to freak out." Adrian spoke seriously; there's no way an event like this would go unnoticed.

Adrian narrowed his eyes when he saw a hero several buildings away jumping and doing parkour. From his outfit, he saw it was Daredevil. Suddenly his body was completely covered by Venom's armor. Adrian isn't too worried about his identity; after all, he has no one important to him except Jeff, and unlike Spider-Man, he isn't kind to those who threaten him. Not to mention that with the level of nonsense in the comic universe, it's completely impossible for someone's true identity to be entirely concealed.

At all times when he was without a mask, he used his powers on cameras to ignore his presence; the same applied when he was at the X-Men mansion. Therefore, the number of people who have seen his face can be counted on one hand. The biggest reason he wears a mask is to hide his eyes, because when he activates them, they become very eye-catching.

Speaking of the clone lover, he doesn't doubt that that clone-loving doctor already knows about his existence; after all, the X-Men mansion is almost an experimental field for that lunatic.

Doctor Sinister is someone Adrian wants to eliminate at all costs; his presence is just annoying. It's because of him that he is very careful about traces of his genes. The same applies to the alien worm who hates mutants. Reed is on the watch list as well; if he turns emo and wants to control everything with the inflated-ego club that is the Illuminati, he will kill him and won't care in the slightest. He has already seen in the comics what happens when Reed thinks he knows too much.

Doom isn't off the list either; he has already seen the nonsense the two Dooms did in the Marvel Rivals universe. That's why he needs more power to deal with the amount of nonsense heroes or villains can unleash at any moment.

Tony Stark in his Superior Iron Man phase, Hydra Captain America, Sue as Malice... That version is very hot.

"Cough." Adrian coughed lightly and swallowed as he removed the image from his head. He has a problem with crazy women; he's the kind of guy who looks at Harley Quinn and says, I don't want to fix her, I want to make her worse!

'It's all because of Unohana Retsu, that sinful woman.' He sighed and added another woman to the possible list he had created.

Adrian remained on top of the motorcycle with his arms crossed, looking into the distance. As he watched the five planes heading toward New York and getting too close for his liking, he finally saw the heroes coming from behind him.

Moments later, Iron Man and Thor passed over him toward the planes.

Thor lifted the plane to fly it over the city.

'So this is the Thor who has mastered his powers a bit, huh.' Just from that feat, he understood that this Thor doesn't depend so much on the hammer.

Iron Man, using his technology, fixed the turbines. A bunch of small machines went to the turbines and repaired them at high speed.

'Nanomachines... He invented that technology much earlier here. Well, considering the level of problems in this universe, it makes sense.' He doesn't know if this Tony's personality is from the MCU or the comics.

If it's the comics version... Adrian doesn't want to be his friend.

Moments later a man with a W on his chest appeared.

'Wonder Man, one of Marvel's Supermen, huh.' Adrian narrowed his eyes when he saw for the first time such an abnormal body; that man's entire body was composed of pure ionic energy.

Wonder Man is in some ways more problematic than Superman because he doesn't have an obvious weakness like Kryptonite. To deal with him, an opponent needs subatomic manipulation of energy or enough power to unleash an energy attack that destabilizes his body.

Or... by using Wanda's chaos magic, almost all powerful beings are useless before her, except Sentry or Adam; those two are aberrations.

Like all superpowered beings, the problem Wonder Man faces is the same as Sentry's: he has emotional and mental issues; he suffers from depression and anxiety.

Adrian remembers several times this man died; one of the most absurd was when he was absorbed by Rogue, although he didn't truly "die" but was living inside her.

'God, the level of comic nonsense... Why didn't I go to the MCU? It would be so much easier.' He sighed internally.

Adrian narrowed his eyes when he saw a muscular man leaping in absurd jumps.

"Hercules."

'One of Zeus's demigod sons... Just by him existing, I know the Greeks will be a problem.' Adrian sighed.

"Here we go, baby!"

"....." Adrian looked impassively at a golden-skinned man flying in a rather... interesting way.

"A little Quantum Magic." He snapped his fingers; the two remaining planes began to float in the air.

"Hercules."

"I'm on it." The demigod held the plane with just one hand and gently descended.

"Adam motherfucker Warlock." And from what he saw, the Marvel Rivals version... At least that's his appearance. He doesn't know if he's from Marvel Rivals or not, but regardless of which version it is, Adam's story is constant. He is Thanos's rival, a being artificially created by the High Evolutionary, an immortal man whose death cannot claim his soul because of how unique he is.

If Adam dies by some divine miracle, he will simply walk out the front door of Lady Death's realm, and she won't be able to do anything about it... Or she doesn't want to do anything.

Adrian even doubts that one of the most fundamental entities of the universe is weaker than Adam. In any case, his feats are obvious. And from what he saw, Adam doesn't have the Soul Stone yet.

'I swear to God, please get me out of this crazy universe!' Adrian was almost crying now. Another reason he was almost crying was because he hadn't seen Hercules or Adam in the Avengers lineup he researched on the internet.

Therefore, his reason for being here must be to deal with Galactus, or deal with Thanos... Or whatever cosmic nonsense he is bringing.

The reason Hercules is here? Adrian doesn't know, but he suspects he's just here to sleep with She-Hulk. After all, thanks to his physique, they can have sex for hours. They've dated before, and even now they still maintain a friends-with-benefits relationship.

The truth is he honestly doesn't know; he isn't very interested in the Hercules character and therefore doesn't know anything about the Greeks in Marvel… The movie version of Thor doesn't count; that Zeus is a joke.

Vroooom!

A flaming motorcycle climbed up the building, and soon a ghost rider descended from the sky. She skidded the flaming tire and then stepped off the bike with a graceful gesture.

"Well, look who's here, the most talked-about new hero of the week." The woman's flaming head disappeared, and a very well-known redhead was seen.

'Natasha as Ghost Rider!? HUH!? Did I miss something? Where did this aberration come from?' Even though he was freaking out internally, Adrian didn't show it.

"Impressive bike... I like it." She looked him up and down.

'I feel in danger; what does this grandma want with me?' Adrian joked. He doesn't doubt that this is the original Black Widow, the one active since World War I and over 70 years old. The only thing he's confused about is how the hell she has the Spirit of Vengeance!?

Nicolas Cage, where are you my friend!?

Seconds later, a man in armor fell from the sky and looked at Adrian with an intense gaze.

'Black Knight, weak, trained human level, but that sword is dangerous. The sword created by Merlin, the Ebony Blade.' Adrian was feeling exhausted seeing some of the heavyweights of this universe, but he was also excited.

Rogue's powers, the powers to control biology, together with Venom, and his supercomputer mind... He no longer has limitations in absorbing powers; the synergy between these powers is absurd.

For example, just a prolonged touch on Black Widow would be enough for him to steal the Spirit of Vengeance from her thanks to Rogue's powers, and unlike the goth, he can control exactly what he wants to absorb.

Unlike gene copies, this is a permanent act; he truly steals everything like Rogue.

Still looking at Natasha. "Aren't you busy, Lady? What do you want with a rookie hero like me?"

"Hmm~, it's to get to know you, of course." She took a step forward, trying to use her attributes to seduce him in that tight bodysuit.

But the moment she tried to approach him, the white eyes of the Spider-Man mask narrowed dangerously, and both of their instincts bristled. She quickly stopped advancing and raised her hand.

"Easy, we're not enemies, right?"

"That's true... But that thing inside you doesn't agree with that opinion." Adrian could clearly see that the Spirit of Vengeance was looking at him with less-than-friendly intentions.

"... Oh? How do you know that?" she asked curiously.

"Intuition." He answered with nonsense, although it wasn't entirely a lie; his spider-sense reacted a bit when she approached, and his version is much stronger than Peter's, almost like a sixth or seventh sense of the Saint Seiya knights.

"... Spider powers, huh." The redhead nodded as if it made sense; after all, she knows his information.

"My purpose here is simple; we want to invite you to the Avengers." She went straight to the point with the same playful look.

'Interesting... She's completely at ease, not tense like her MCU version, which makes sense considering she's an old soldier carrying the Spirit of Vengeance and the heroes have most of the absurdly strong beings on their side.' Adrian thought.

'Wonder Man, Hyperion, Sentry—these are Marvel's Superman clones, each more exaggerated than the last, and if there's one thing this universe has shown me so far, it's not to underestimate it. The level of nonsense here is over 9000. Who knows what else is out there?' He's not a hardcore comics fan, so he doesn't know everything; he only follows his favorite heroes but stopped when writers started inserting their fetishes into comics.

After that, he just watched summaries on YouTube and got spoiler information from friends and community groups.

"What benefits?"

"A fixed salary, limited access to our geniuses' research, access to Avengers Tower, if someone attacks you, you can call for backup and we'll help depending on the situation... And most importantly, you'll see me every day." She looked at him with a seductive gaze.

"Honestly, none of them interest me." He spoke in a dry tone. "Especially the last one."

Only someone who loves personal problems would want to get involved with that woman. Natasha is a spy before she is a woman; she trusts no one and is full of personal issues.

The Widow's expression remained the same, but Adrian wasn't just anyone; he could easily read her microexpressions. She's impressive—she can control her face almost entirely, but not 100%, and Adrian is an empath now.

Behind all that hatred and desire for vengeance from the Spirit of Vengeance, he could perceive the Widow's emotions.

'Heh, so you're not as insensitive as you think.' Adrian laughed internally.

"But I can participate as an honorary member."

"Oh?"

Adrian threw something toward the woman. The spy caught what he threw and saw a card with his number on it.

"I prefer to work alone; after all, my methods are too brutal for some soy boys." Adrian doesn't want to join the Avengers; he knows that will happen—everyone will want to control him, and he doesn't like that.
