Chapter 302 - The mystery is solved

"What do I have to be afraid of? If you keep pestering me, I can even teach you how to play pubg and help you level up your skills along the way."

Lin Qingxue's face flushed scarlet as she read the message Jiang Cheng had sent.

"Hmph, if you keep mocking my skills, I swear I'll bite you next time."

"Bite me where?? Care to be specific?"

"Not talking to you anymore, hmph. I'm off to work…"

"Don't forget the promise you made last night."

…Jiang Cheng, a bottle of iced water in hand, ambled across the drill ground while fiddling with his phone.

After the forum post blew up, every classmate already knew he was slacking off during Military Training.

So Jiang Cheng simply slacked openly—what difference would one extra day make?.

Just as the Instructor began assembling the students for dismissal…

Several middle-aged men suddenly stepped onto the central dais.

The moment they appeared, every formation snapped to attention.

Their bearing screamed school leadership.

Within minutes all the squares had converged below the stage.

Once the assembly finished, the man at the front walked toward the microphone.

A deep, resonant voice boomed through the speakers.

"Good morning, everyone. I'm Principal Chen Jin of our university. In this scorching summer, you students and Instructors have worked hard. There's only one day of Military Training left. Seeing your youthful, enthusiastic faces sweating under the sun…"

After a long, boring speech, Chen Jin cut to the point.

"I've gathered everyone today to announce two matters."

"The first concerns today's malicious attack on the school website. Our investigation shows it was carried out by two Sophomores."

"This incident has not only tarnished the university's image but also disrupted the student-credit system."

"Our university has always upheld strict discipline. Given the severity of the damage and its impact, the offenders are hereby expelled. Let this be a warning—discipline yourselves and never allow such behavior to recur."

Whispers rippled through the crowd the moment Chen Jin finished.

Some of them had been victims of the crash.

Many were first-years registering their accounts and curious about the site.

They'd scoured the forums for gossip, and this morning Jiang Cheng's post had topped the hot list.

It sparked fierce debate, and quite a few envied the rich.

With everyone sweating through Military Training, the unfairness of Jiang Cheng's dorm air-conditioner and his slacking fueled the forum flames against him.

Until their bans, they'd assumed Jiang Cheng was behind it all.

Who'd have guessed it was actually Sophomores?.

Many were now thoroughly bewildered.

Yet some remained skeptical.

As murmurs spread, Chen Jin continued.

"While we never tolerate vandalism, we also praise, commend, and publicize significant contributions to the university."

"Jiang Cheng of Class 167, Year One, has donated Ten Million Yuan in teaching funds. I'm deeply moved by his selfless spirit. These funds will go toward renovating classrooms, upgrading dormitory wiring and exterior walls, and purchasing new teaching equipment…"

Chen Jin's amplified words slammed into every heart like a sledgehammer.

Including Jiang Cheng's own.

Ten million???.

Gasps swept across the drill ground in waves.

Classmates stared wide-eyed at Jiang Cheng.

Several couldn't help giving him a silent thumbs-up.

Moments earlier they'd still felt a twinge of jealousy.

After all, only his dorm enjoyed air-conditioning.

But now Jiang Cheng had donated ten million—enough to replace the aging dorm wiring.

The students buzzed with excitement; to them Jiang Cheng was now their benefactor.

After such a meaningful act, Jiang Cheng's stature in their hearts instantly soared.

In their eyes he resembled those Huaqiao Company tycoons of decades past who returned to rebuild their hometown schools.

Honestly, the students were truly grateful.

No one's money grows on trees.

That Jiang Cheng selflessly gave ten million to renovate the school.

Showed he was a man of great love.

Far better than those celebs who walk red carpets for cash yet never give to charity.

And since Jiang Cheng shared their class, they all felt proud by association.

While everyone around him buzzed with excitement, Jiang Cheng was utterly baffled??.

Ten million? When did I ever donate that?.

Was I sleepwalking?.

Or donating while asleep??.

And why on earth would I give the school ten million?.

Did some good Samaritan donate in my name?.

Or did Grandpa pull strings again?.

Or could some idiot be scamming the school using my name to get back at me?.

If some moron really did fake a donation behind my back, I'll have no choice but to ship him off to Tyrande.

Outwardly calm, Jiang Cheng's mind was a battlefield of galloping thoughts.

After the praise, Chen Jin invited Jiang Cheng to the stage: "Let's welcome Jiang Cheng with a round of applause."

Every gaze locked onto him; helpless, Jiang Cheng threaded through the crowd onto the central platform.

Seeing him, Chen Jin smiled and offered his hand: "At last we meet—splendid, truly splendid. A young hero; our university is honored to have recruited such talent."

"Principal Chen, you flatter me," Jiang Cheng replied calmly.

Chen Jin gave an enthusiastic pat on the shoulder, then lowered his voice so only the two of them could hear.

"When Wang Congcong approached me about this, I was stunned—but seeing you in person, I understand. In the prime of youth, full of vigor. I hear you're starting a business; may your venture proceed without a hitch and soar to new heights."

With that, Chen Jin unraveled the entire mystery in one stroke.

He hadn't expected it to be Wang Congcong's doing in the end.

Jiang Cheng smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Principal Chen."

"Come, say a few words."

Since the matter was settled, Jiang Cheng didn't decline.

He stepped to the center and spoke into the mic: "Hello, I'm Jiang Cheng. There's little to say—just hope the university outfits every dorm with basic air-conditioning, and that the construction team moves fast so we can all enjoy cooler rooms this summer."

Hearing this, Chen Jin beamed and nodded repeatedly. "Rest assured, workers start on the dorms tomorrow. We'll prioritize improving student accommodation."

Jiang Cheng's down-to-earth words struck a chord with everyone.

Thunderous applause erupted below the stage.
