Chapter 68 - Poisoned Truth

Third person

Rain stared at the case file for too long; his eyes were so fixed on it that it began to hurt. But amidst everything jotted down, one stood out.

"Culprit unknown."

And yet the case was closed. The king's stamp was at the bottom alongside his signature.

Rain didn't remember much, and her image in his mind was fading. He had only seen her in portraits and heard of her praises from the servants or a few merchants, but never the cause of her death. And even if one was close enough to spill something, they only ever mentioned she died from complications of childbirth. But the reports in his hands didn't mention anything about childbirth; rather, they stated poisoning.

Rain didn't know which version carried the truth or if all of it did.
