Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Taking it Too Far!

After the two maintained their original positions for dozens of seconds, Mo Xin looked back and forth in disbelief. Immediately after, she walked toward the outside again, but the moment she felt she had left the Residential Complex, the scene before her eyes suddenly changed. What greeted her eyes was Yunli's playful, mocking smile.

"Yo, I'm not in a hurry." Seeing this, Yunli didn't forget to speak in a sarcastic tone.

However, Mo Xin had no time to pay attention to Yunli's ridicule right now. This time, she ran outside quickly, but the result was still that she inexplicably ran back. At this moment, Mo Xin truly felt that her original worldview had completely collapsed. (ノ ○ Д ○)ノ

This dramatic scene actually amused Yunli, who was standing by. 'I didn't expect this feeling of revealing the answer to be so satisfying!'

Faced with Mo Xin's shock, Yunli could only laugh unkindly, but not laughing out loud was the last bit of decency she left for the other. She walked step by step to Mo Xin's side, who was standing there questioning her life. With one hand on her hip, she reached out and patted the other's shoulder, feigning profundity.

"Are you tired of playing? I don't mind waiting a bit longer, you know?"

Well, the moment Yunli said those words, the corners of her mouth curled up uncontrollably again. She couldn't help it; she really couldn't resist mocking her a few more times given such a good opportunity!

(Mo Xin: Where are your manners?)

...After two minutes of shock, the expression on Mo Xin's face temporarily returned to normal. But she still couldn't help pointing outside and casting an inquiring look at Yunli.

"Yeah, don't think about it. If I knew how to get out, why would I still be standing here?"

Now, the last bit of hope in Mo Xin's heart had completely vanished. However, a new question arose. Mo Xin sized up Yunli curiously. She felt that besides being as ordinary as herself, the other person didn't seem to have any special characteristics?

"By the way, Yunli, how did you know?"

"Naturally, I tried it after coming in." There was nothing to hide about this, so she just told her.

But Mo Xin thought of something else and asked again, "So you knew there was a problem here from the start! Then why did you still come in? And you didn't even warn me..."

"Stop, stop, stop. I'll answer them one by one."

"Oh."

"First, I did notice an anomaly, but I didn't know it would be like this. Then, do you think I didn't want to call out to you? Who told you to just walk straight in while I wasn't paying attention? I didn't even have time to shout for you. Finally, you heartless girl, why do you think I came in even though I knew there was a problem? Why would I go looking for trouble for no reason?"

After Yunli finished speaking in one breath, the expression on Mo Xin's face immediately froze. 'Right, why would she come if she knew there was a problem? Could it be... because of me!'

After figuring out the answer, Mo Xin's fair face suddenly turned red. Realizing that Yunli was watching her, she felt even more guilty. 'How could I say that! Yunli clearly did it for my sake...'

However, while Mo Xin was feeling guilty, she suddenly saw the slight curl of Yunli's lips. That curve seemed to be silently saying something, making Mo Xin's guilt suddenly become complicated. Another surging emotion went "whoosh," like a rocket launching, taking dominance in an instant. It pushed aside the original blush of self-reproach with a "whoosh," quickly turning it into a flush of embarrassment. The flush spread across her face, looking exactly like two ripe red apples.

Mo Xin remembered. Recalling her naive and ridiculous thoughts was truly exasperating. Now that she understood the truth, her previously confident actions and guesses instantly seemed like a dramatic performance, appearing exceptionally comical.

Mo Xin ( ✘_✘ )↯: I want to die! Why hasn't the world ended yet!

The boomerang thrown earlier had finally hit her! How happy she was laughing then was how embarrassed she was now. She lowered her head as much as possible, even wishing she could completely vanish from sight right now. She didn't dare look at Yunli's slightly mocking gaze...

After ten long minutes of social death and Yunli's teasing, Mo Xin finally returned to a state of calm. Now, she asked curiously, "Oh right! I almost forgot. Yunli, are you actually some kind of hidden big shot?"

"Uh... I wouldn't say big shot, I just learned swordsmanship from my grandfather since I was little."

"That's still impressive! Do you have any superpowers? Or can you fly on a sword or something?"

"I don't know much about superpowers, and learning flashy things like Sword-kinesis isn't very interesting. I prefer the feeling of breaking all techniques with pure power!"

"Ah???"

...Mo Xin seemed to have completely forgotten her memory of social death and was now curiously asking Yunli all sorts of things, while Yunli responded casually, answering here and there.

"So is this outfit your organization's uniform?"

"I already told you, these are my everyday clothes! And I'm not part of some justice-upholding organization or whatever you said."

"Is that so? True, no wonder I always felt it was weird for a uniform to not include shoes."

"Aren't you even weirder for coming up with a question like that!"

Mo Xin chatted with her for a long time, and only when the wave of excitement gradually receded did she suddenly realize they were still trapped. Just now, she was so excited about learning the little girl's secret that she had forgotten about this. Of course, the most crucial point was hearing Yunli explain the information about Ability Users in this world.

Regarding this information, Yunli told the other everything she knew. After all, the current situation couldn't possibly be unrelated, so since they encountered it, she might as well stop hiding it. Anyway... why should she care so much? Besides, Mo Xin's excited look showed she was clearly happy to accept it.

'An Ability User! I wonder if I have a chance to awaken an ability. But according to Yunli, the probability of awakening an ability seems very slim. If I could awaken, I probably would have already.'

Despite the regret, Mo Xin could still distinguish reality. The relaxed and comfortable expression on her face changed, replaced by a look of worry as she said: "Um... Yunli, are you strong enough? What should we do now?"

"Oh? I saw you chatting so excitedly, I thought you weren't afraid anymore?" Seeing the other's attitude suddenly change to being timid, Yunli found it a bit funny.

Seeing the other person mocking her like this, Mo Xin was simply angry and annoyed. Being mysteriously locked in the Residential Complex, she was completely at a loss. If it weren't for Yunli's company, she probably wouldn't even be in the mood to joke. However, she still asked, feigning composure.

"Stop joking, hey. Seriously, is someone targeting us? Or is it for some other reason? How are we supposed to escape from here?"

Noticing that Mo Xin's emotions were fluctuating too much, Yunli stopped joking with her and began to speak seriously. "This destination was decided on the fly, and I didn't notice anyone following us on the way, so it's very likely we coincidentally wandered into this strange space. As for the way to leave... sorry, I don't know either. After all, I don't have any experience either."

After hearing this, Mo Xin's eyes instantly dimmed, her heart filled with fear that she would be trapped here forever. And if that were really the case, wouldn't she be dragging Yunli down with her! Yunli clearly wanted to help her, yet she might have harmed her... and then there's her older sister... life had just started to improve, and she wanted to live a good life with her sister. But if something happened to her... her sister would definitely be sad for a long time. Thinking of this, Mo Xin felt particularly upset.

Seeing this, Yunli immediately stepped forward anxiously and gently patted the other's shoulder, wanting to comfort her. But before she could speak, she heard the other murmuring an apology. The voice was so small it was almost inaudible, but it made Yunli feel even worse.

"S-sorry... Yunli, it's because of me... that you're also..."

Hearing the other's intermittent sobs, Yunli felt like things had gone south. 'It seems I overlooked one thing after all. Mo Xin is just an ordinary girl after all, without superhuman abilities or indestructible armor. The jokes she made before might have just been her way of diverting attention so she wouldn't be so nervous or scared. But I didn't see it. This was truly my oversight, not noticing that hint of helplessness in her tone.'

"Alright, alright, this lady is very powerful! I will definitely get you out of here!" Yunli couldn't tease her anymore and could only soothe her emotions with a sincere tone.

As it turned out, whether Mo Xin had figured it out or believed Yunli's words, she quickly pulled herself together.

"Don't worry, Mo Xin! I will definitely get you out!" This time, Yunli took the initiative to stand on her tiptoes and stroke the top of the other's head, her tone incredibly sincere.

"Mm, I believe you." Hearing this, Mo Xin replied without hesitation, a strong desire for survival igniting in her eyes. 'Whether it's true or not, I must go home alive! Even if I fail... at the very least... I can't drag Yunli down; I must not hold her back!'

Yunli didn't know Mo Xin's thoughts, but was glad to see the other hadn't lost hope. After that, they no longer stayed at the entrance of the Residential Complex and walked inside. At the same time, Yunli cast a cold, subtle glance toward the roof of a nearby building, her eyes carrying a hint of vigilance and inquiry.
