Chapter 56
The two flew toward the glowing golden panel leading to the real universe.
Through the panel, they could vaguely see a bespectacled person hunched over a computer, curiously observing their side.
"Look! That's my old editor!" Gwenpool excitedly pointed at the blurry figure.
"He's definitely searching for a missing comic character!"
However, just as they were about to touch the edge of the panel, the invisible wall appeared again, violently bouncing them back.
"Failed again."
Gwenpool slumped her shoulders in dejection. "It's always like this."
Yang Jian frowned, staring thoughtfully at the panel.
Gwenpool's eyes suddenly lit up: "Right! Superman! You have that 'I reckon' skill, don't you? Try using it!"
Yang Jian nodded, closed his eyes, and began strongly suggesting to himself in his mind.
[I can return to the real universe]
No response.
[This wall doesn't exist at all]
The wall remained unmoved.
[I can definitely get through!]
Still mercilessly blocked.
He refused to give up and reached out to touch the invisible wall.
Every muscle in his body tensed, veins bulging on his temples. But even with full strength, the barrier remained unbreakable.
"Wow!"
Gwenpool watched mesmerized from the side, unconsciously wiping the corner of her mouth.
"Superman trying hard is way too sexy!"
Finally, Yang Jian helplessly let go: "No good. Can't get through at all."
Just as he was about to say something, an invisible force suddenly descended.
Yang Jian's vision blurred. The next second, he was already back in Gwenpool's messy room.
The comic panel still floated in the air. Gwenpool poked her head out from inside, looking puzzled: "How did you suddenly get sent back?"
"No idea. I just got pulled back." Yang Jian walked up to the panel again and touched the edge.
The invisible wall was still there. He closed his eyes and tried activating the ability again, but no matter what, he couldn't re-enter the panel space.
Gwenpool jumped out from the panel and casually closed the passage.
She tilted her head and studied Yang Jian: "Weird. Maybe the writer didn't give you permission for this? So you got forcibly kicked out?"
Yang Jian nodded thoughtfully: "Very possible. Looks like my presence really messed up some established rules."
Gwenpool suddenly pounced and hugged his arm: "No problem! You already gave me the serum anyway. From now on we can play together in this universe!"
She blinked: "Wanna go meet other superheroes? I can be your tour guide!"
Yang Jian smiled and ruffled her hair: "Sure, but before that."
He pointed at the wall Gwenpool had punched through.
"Shouldn't you think about how to explain this hole to your landlord?"
Gwenpool's expression instantly froze: "Oh no."
She scratched her head in distress: "I'm done for. The landlord is gonna kill me!"
Her eyes suddenly lit up. She looked at Yang Jian expectantly: "You definitely have a way, right?"
Yang Jian gave a slight smile. A trace of blue light flashed in his eyes.
An invisible bio-field instantly expanded. The scattered rubble on the ground floated up one by one, as if held by an unseen hand.
"Wow!"
Gwenpool's eyes widened in amazement: "Even though I saw it once before, this power is seriously cool!"
She reached out curiously like a child and touched the floating rubble.
"So this is a bio-field? It feels like touching cotton candy."
Under Yang Jian's precise control, the rubble pieces reassembled like a puzzle. The cracks made faint sizzling sounds.
In the blink of an eye, the wall was restored perfectly—even the wallpaper pattern matched seamlessly, showing no trace of damage.
"Amazing!" Gwenpool jumped up excitedly, throwing herself onto Yang Jian and planting several loud kisses on his face.
"Having a Superman boyfriend is the best! I can wreck houses without worry from now on!"
Yang Jian steadied her easily, smirking as he leaned close to her ear: "Since I'm your boyfriend, shouldn't we do what boyfriends are supposed to do?"
Gwenpool immediately understood. She gave a sly wink: "Looks like Superman can't wait anymore~"
She deliberately dragged out her tone, fingers lightly tracing across Yang Jian's chest.
"You said it yourself." Yang Jian's voice dropped lower.
Before he finished, Gwenpool kissed him.
The two tumbled onto the bed covered in comic books, sending pages flying.
Gwenpool didn't forget to snap her fingers—the room lights dimmed automatically, and soft jazz started playing from the speakers.
"Wait."
Yang Jian suddenly paused. "What about your comics?"
Gwenpool yanked the blanket over them both: "Forget about those for now. Right now the important thing is doing something serious."
Her voice gradually faded, swallowed by their deepening kisses.
Outside the window, New York's night sky sparkled with stars. A shooting star streaked across the horizon.
Meanwhile, in some higher dimension, a blank comic book suddenly flipped open on its own. A new storyline slowly began to appear on the page.
......
Morning Light
Sunlight slipped through the gaps in the curtains into the room. Yang Jian slowly opened his eyes.
He found Gwenpool draped over him like an octopus, her red-and-gold streaked hair messy and spread out.
With a helpless smile, he gently lifted her back to position her properly—but accidentally woke her.
"Mmm… what time is it?" Gwenpool rubbed her eyes sleepily, a little drool still at the corner of her mouth.
Yang Jian glanced at the cartoon wall clock: "10 a.m."
"10 a.m.?!" Gwenpool instantly woke up. She did a kip-up and bounced off the bed.
"Oh no oh no oh no! I'm missing prime superhero time!"
Barefoot, she pattered into the bathroom, grabbed her toothbrush and shoved it in her mouth.
Yang Jian leaned against the doorframe, watching her scramble with amusement: "In such a rush?"
"Of course I'm in a rush!" Gwenpool mumbled through foam.
"I have to hurry and fight crime to build up my popularity!" She spat out the foam and made a throat-slitting gesture.
"Otherwise my editor will consider canceling my run again!"
Yang Jian shook his head: "Fine. Good luck."
Gwenpool poked her head out from the bathroom: "You're not coming along?"
"I have to head back first." Yang Jian pointed outside the window.
"People at home are waiting."
"Okay~" Gwenpool pouted, but quickly perked up again.
"Then you have to come visit me often! Or I can come find you too!"
"No problem." Yang Jian opened his arms.
"But… no proper goodbye?"
Gwenpool's eyes lit up. Ignoring the face wash foam still on her cheeks, she launched herself at him and planted a big kiss.
She nimbly jumped down, quickly slipped into her red-and-yellow costume, and did a spin: "How do I look? Superhero Gwenpool officially debuting!"
Yang Jian nodded appreciatively: "Very nice."
"Then how are you getting back? Need me to tear a comic page for you—wow!" Before Gwenpool finished speaking, she saw Yang Jian casually draw a sparkling portal.
"This is Kamar-Taj magic? You can do that too?"
"Super brain learns fast." Yang Jian shrugged.
Gwenpool made a face: "Fine, genius."
She suddenly became serious and waved at Yang Jian: "See you next time, my Superman~"
"See you." Yang Jian smiled and stepped into the portal. Golden sparks slowly closed behind him.
Looking at the now-empty room, Gwenpool took a deep breath.
She tucked two cartoon-style pistols behind her back, struck a cool pose in front of the mirror: "Day 1 of Gwenpool having superpowers—officially begins!"
She shoved open the window, did a stylish flip onto the windowsill, then suddenly remembered she lived on the 15th floor.
But the next second—she jumped straight down.
"Yeehaw!"
