Chapter 20 - loosing me

Yuna:

"You think this is a game?" Luca said. "Your world destroys people. She doesn't belong in it."

Ethan's voice dropped, dangerously quiet.

"She belongs wherever she chooses to be."

Both of them looked at me then, waiting — as if my answer would decide everything.

My heart pounded painfully.

"I'm not a thing to argue over," I said, forcing strength into my voice. "I can make my own decisions."

Luca sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"Yuna… you don't know who he really is."

"I do or may be not because you both don't tell me anything," I replied softly, even though part of me wondered if that was true.

Ethan's gaze never left mine. There was no command in his eyes now, only hope mixed with fear.

And somehow, that scared me more than his darkness ever had.

The elevator doors slowly closed behind Luca, sealing us again in silence — but this time, nothing felt simple anymore.

Because now, choosing Ethan didn't just mean risking my heart.

It meant choosing his world.

The hallway fell silent after my words, but the tension between Ethan and Luca only grew heavier.

Luca stepped closer, his eyes burning with anger. "You think saying pretty words changes anything?"

Ethan didn't move. "This isn't your decision."

"The hell it isn't!" Luca snapped. "Fuck, She's my sister."

Before I could react, Luca shoved Ethan hard in the chest.

Ethan barely moved, but something dark flickered across his face. "Don't start something you can't finish."

"Try me."

The next second, Luca swung his fist.

It landed against Ethan's jaw with a sharp sound that echoed through the corridor.

I gasped as Ethan's head turned slightly from the impact.

"Stop!" I shouted, but neither of them listened.

Ethan wiped the corner of his lip slowly, eyes turning cold. "You're angry," he said quietly. "Good. Get it out."

That only made Luca angrier. He charged again, throwing another punch, but this time Ethan caught his wrist midair. The movement was fast, controlled.

"I don't want to hurt you," Ethan warned.

"You already did," Luca growled, trying to pull free.

Luca drove his shoulder forward, forcing Ethan back against the wall. The two struggled, strength against strength, years of friendship now breaking under emotion.

Furniture rattled as they collided with a nearby table.

"Both of you stop!" I cried, stepping forward.

Ethan pushed Luca away, creating distance, but Luca rushed again, tackling him.

They hit the floor, trading blows — not like enemies, but like men carrying too many unsaid fears.

"You'll destroy her!" Luca shouted.

Ethan blocked another hit, breathing hard. "I'm trying to protect her!"

"From who? Yourself?"

Those words made Ethan freeze for a split second.

Luca's fist stopped inches from Ethan's face as silence suddenly filled the space.

I stepped between them, my hands shaking. "Enough!"

Both men looked at me — anger, fear, and guilt written across their faces.

"You're fighting like I'm not even here," I said softly. "I'm not something you win or lose."

Neither of them spoke.

But for the first time, they both stepped back.

And I realized this fight wasn't about hatred.

It was about who was more afraid of losing me.
