I kick the door closed once she leaves. I find a cup of water and gulp it down, then pound a hole in the wall at a sharp memory.
Flexing my now bleeding fingers, I sit on the edge of the strange bed, in a strange place and time. I am weary and my leg pains me after fighting the new set of assassins sent by a different group. I'm now more certain it isn't only the pack that wants my mate dead. Keeping her at the cave prison was for her own good.
I pull up my pants and inspect my regenerating leg. The flesh is sunken and wasted. "Why is the healing not happening yet, Caine? How long do I have to fucking wait?"
"I don't know, actually. But I got a lead anyways. You were fed a suppressant that would slow down your normal healing process and even totally stop your wolf from healing you. I'm not sure how to fix it, but her scent is helping us greatly, Marking her could do better or even knotting" Caine says.
