Maya's POV
Maya was sitting in the tactical chamber staring at failure when it hit her.
Not like a sudden lightning bolt. More like pieces of a puzzle clicking into place one at a time until the whole picture made sense.
She had been thinking about the war wrong.
She had been trying to out-think Elias as a human strategist. One brilliant mind against another brilliant mind. And Elias had proven he was just as smart as she was. Maybe smarter because he had studied her first.
But that wasn't her real advantage.
She pulled up the system data. All the anomalies she had found. All the patterns in the environmental hazards. All the algorithmic collapse sequences.
The buildings didn't fall randomly. The monsters didn't spawn randomly. The environmental hazards didn't appear randomly.
It was all designed. All calculated. All following algorithms that could be learned.
