Adrian watched as Victor and Josh galloped away into the distance until their figures disappeared behind the thick trees. A small, satisfied smile crept onto his face as he folded his hands behind his back.
"Till we meet again, Arabella," he muttered beneath his breath, his voice barely above a whisper.
Beside him, Maxim remained silent for a while before finally asking the question that had been bothering him.
"Your Highness... do you really think he is going to make it out alive?"
Adrian chuckled softly.
"This is the end of the road for him."
He slowly turned to face Maxim, his blue eyes filled with cold calculation rather than sympathy.
"He is useless to me now. He has no pack, he is a wanted man, and he carries far too much baggage. Most importantly..." he paused, a cruel smile spreading across his lips, "I need Arabella to bear my heir."
Maxim listened quietly.
