It was late in the evening. The moon hung high in the sky, its silvery light pouring through the palace windows and bathing my bedchamber in a soft glow. The events of the past few days had left my mind restless, so I decided to invite Linda to my room. There were too many questions swirling inside my head, and I knew she was the only person who could answer them.
For now, though, I allowed myself a rare moment of peace.
Sophia and I were already lying on my bed, talking as we cuddled beneath the blankets. It had been so long since we had done something so simple together. We laughed as we reminisced about our childhood, recalling the little adventures we used to have before life became so complicated.
Eventually, the conversation drifted to Celine.
I told Sophia everything that had happened, including her death.
She stared at me in complete disbelief.
