Suddenly, the building Jogo and Mahito were standing on was cut in half, and it began to fall apart, along with Jogo's volcano.
Jogo used his ember insects to lift himself up, while Mahito manifested wings.
"What now, Jogo?"
"Let's try to lead him back to the crater. In the city, he can use the environment to his advantage. And I think I've got a plan... To defeat him!"
Mahito nodded, and the two of them descended into the building's ruins. As they did, Sukuna was standing over the rubble.
"Not tired yet?"
Asked Sukuna, clearly very amused.
Jogo and Mahito didn't respond. Instead, Jogo manifested lava around his body before rapidly cooling it, creating volcanic rock and using it to increase his armour's strength.
Jogo then walked in front of Mahito protectively before nodding to his friend.
Mahito nodded back before putting his hand over his face.
"INSTANT SPIRIT BODY OF DISTORTED KILLING!"
Jogo then ordered his ember insects to move back.
"DISMANTLE!"
The ember insects were all cut apart, causing a large explosion, and another nearby building collapsed as well.
Mahito grew out his arm's blades while Jogo began preparing a concentrated ball of fire between his hands. Sukuna then quickly appeared beside Jogo, his hand on Jogo's shoulder.
"CLEAVE!"
Jogo's armour over his shoulder was damaged, a cut in a grid pattern appearing on its surface. As Jogo turned to him, Sukuna disappeared once again.
Jogo and Mahito moved closer, their backs turned to each other.
Suddenly, a car flew in their direction.
Jogo and Mahito barely dodged, but another car was thrown.
Then another one.
Then another one.
Jogo was finally hit, being thrown some 20 meters (65 feet) away, while Mahito was still standing.
Sukuna then appeared beside Mahito, who attempted to stab him to no avail.
With a swift kick to the stomach, Mahito was thrown back to where Jogo was.
"Remember the plan, Mahito! Let's lead him back to the crater."
As Sukuna rapidly approached, Jogo created two small volcanoes on either side of him and fired them, spewing lava in Sukuna's direction, but the king of curses jumped over them before landing two consecutive cleaves in Jogo's chest, causing the chestplate to nearly break apart.
Mahito, who had been approaching, slashed in Sukuna's direction, causing him to let go of Jogo and pull back.
Jogo once again repaired his armour, while Sukuna kept up the pressure, hitting Mahito with repeated punches. Mahito blocked, but the sheer impact was sending him back, and he had to constantly regenerate his arms.
Jogo kept running beside them, attempting to find an opening in Sukuna's techniques.
Then, suddenly, Sukuna hit a punch, and black and red sparks began coming off his fist.
Mahito was sent flying off, crashing into a building and coming off the other side, his body crashing and tumbling before he stood up again.
Jogo attempted to run back to his friend, but Sukuna appeared behind him, a kick sending Jogo flying as well.
Sukuna kept on attacking, throwing Jogo back with each hit, while Mahito ran toward them.
When Sukuna extended his hand to use a cleave, Mahito suddenly grabbed Jogo and ran to the side, causing Sukuna to turn before getting ready to keep attacking.
When he did, Mahito and Jogo were already standing in front of him.
"Jogo. That black spark attack... Sukuna punched me, then his cursed energy hit immediately after. No... at the same moment!"
Mahito smiled, as much of a smile as he could muster in his improved body.
"If I can hit it... I..."
Sukuna once again appeared, now standing directly above the building beside them.
Jogo sent two blasts of lava from his palms, travelling up the building, before manipulating them into hands.
Jogo feigned an attempt to grab Sukuna, but he left an opening to the right. But where Sukuna turned, Mahito had climbed up the building and was now standing there to meet him. Jogo then hardened his lava hands into volcanic rock, effectively trapping Sukuna, with his only way out being through Mahito.
Mahito stretched his swords, entering into an attacking stance as Sukuna simply stood there.
Then, Mahito attempted to strike at Sukuna, but he effortlessly dodged and kicked Mahito back.
But when Sukuna finally left the volcanic rock structure, he was met with an ember insect explosion, throwing him to the side. He found himself surrounded by more and more ember insects, overwhelming his senses.
Sukuna sent slashes toward them, causing a chain explosion around him.
Just as he was about to touch the ground, he felt Mahito's fist touch his back.
Black and red sparks surrounded him as Sukuna flew into Shibuya crater, and he gracefully landed.
Sukuna's smirk grew into a smile once again.
"How cute.
But you won't get another hit like that, curse."
Jogo and Mahito moved to the crater's edge, looking at Sukuna.
"I... I'm getting tired, Mahito. We've been doing well, sure, but... He's not tired at all. If this keeps up, we'll lose."
"When I hit that attack, Jogo, I felt it! I realised this form isn't my last one. That feeling, I... if I'm given time, I can transform into a stronger form."
...No. It'll take too much time, I can't leave you like that."
Jogo turned his palm to Mahito dismissively.
"Mahito. How much time will you take?"
"Likely some-"
"Actually, don't answer. I'll give you the time you need. Trust me, friend."
"But, Jogo!"
"I've still got some tricks up my sleeve, Mahito. I can do this."
Mahito nodded and smiled.
"Alright then, don't disappoint me!"
Jogo then created a dome of lava surrounding Mahito, before cooling it into his volcanic rock, effectively shielding him.
It was time for Jogo to find out just how strong he had become.
"Are you really going to face me alone, curse?"
"Good luck with that."
Jogo was still standing there, waiting for Sukuna to make his first move.
After all, Jogo's win condition was simply waiting for however long it'd take for Mahito, or anyone for that matter, to arrive.
"Let's see how strong your armour really is, volcano! DISMANTLE!"
A powerful and extraordinarily wide slash from Sukuna was sent in Jogo's direction. It left a mark on Jogo's chestplate, nearly cutting through it.
But behind Jogo, a row of buildings collapsed. If it weren't for the armour, he'd already have been dead.
Then, Sukuna appeared beside Jogo. Jogo jumped up, turning his palms toward Sukuna in a strong burst of fire, but Sukuna was too fast, and he grabbed Jogo by the arm before spinning him around.
"Your armour is tough, but you're nothing without it! You're too weak!"
Sukuna then threw Jogo onto what remained of the destroyed buildings from his slash.
Jogo stumbled back up again, reforming his armour, then Sukuna reappeared in front of him.
Jogo began spewing lava from his hands, but he missed where Sukuna was, shooting off to the sides and allowing Sukuna to get right in front of him.
Sukuna put his hand on Jogo's chestplate once again, laughing maniacally.
"CLEAVE!"
Sukuna hit three repeated cleaves onto Jogo's chesplate, finally breaking it apart.
But just when he was about to hit a fourth one onto Jogo's bare skin, Sukuna suddenly dodged.
Right where he once was, a large hand made of lava swung its fist.
As a matter of fact, Jogo had not missed at all. He had simply been aiming elsewhere.
He created a hand and arm out of lava as he always did, but he changed the fingers and knuckles to be made of volcanic rock for strength.
As Sukuna positioned himself directly in front of Jogo, but some 10 meters (32 feet) away.
"TECTONIC FISTS!"
Jogo finally healed his chest before swinging his real fists, the lava ones moving with him, smoke coming off from the heat as magma bubbled up.
Jogo punched from the left, but Sukuna effortlessly dodged the gigantic magma arm.
Then, Jogo attempted to grab his enemy from the right, but it led to the same result.
As Jogo's arms turned to hit Sukuna once again, he was already right next to Jogo.
He grabbed him by the face and threw him off into one of the few still-standing buildings in Shibuya, a particularly tall tower.
Jogo crashed through. He simply couldn't repair his armour much longer if he wanted to go through with his plan, as he was now working with only around half his cursed energy reserves.
When he hit the floor on the other side, he saw Sukuna floating in the sky, holding a truck in his hands.
"TECTONIC FISTS!"
Jogo once again formed his volcanic arms, using them to block Sukuna's truck throw. Then, Jogo enlarged them rapidly, pretending to try to grab the king of curses.
Sukuna moved away, but Jogo actually grabbed, with his magma hands, the tower, taking hold of it and pulling it apart.
Jogo then attempted to swing the tower wildly in his opponent's direction, concrete and steel screeching as the tower spun. Though it seemed to be useless. Sukuna easily cut the tower into many sections, causing it to collapse, and wreaking even wider destruction around Shibuya.
Sukuna was clearly having the time of his life, still laughing in amusement as he danced around Jogo's desperate volcanic fists.
"That wasn't your plan, was it, curse?!
That'd be pathetic!"
Suddenly, a third arm was raised from the ground, magma rapidly bubbling up, catching Sukuna by surprise.
As the hand closed around the king of curses, Jogo's mind was filled with relief as he thought he had taken hold of Sukuna.
But that relief only lasted for a mere instant.
The arm was cut in half, a puddle of magma from its remains beginning to form on the street.
By the time Jogo had reformed his destroyed magma arm, Sukuna was already standing before him, his hand in the hole of Jogo's chesplate.
"CLEAVE!"
Sukuna kept laughing as Jogo's chest was cut badly, his purple blood pouring out.
Then, Sukuna grabbed Jogo's face.
"CLEAVE!"
Sukuna hit three consecutive cleaves into Jogo's helmet, breaking it apart and shattering it as well.
Jogo burst fire out of his hands in Sukuna's direction in desperation, but when he did, Sukuna had already moved behind him.
Jogo then quickly made a burst of magma from his feet, pushing himself up with it.
With a quick boost of his lava, Jogo began lifting himself while making a wave beneath him, attempting to get up onto a building.
"DISMANTLE!"
With a scream, Sukuna used multiple slashes, cutting the platform, the top of Jogo's head, and the whole lava wave apart, while severely damaging what remained of Jogo's armour.
By the time Sukuna did, however, Jogo had already used a fire blast to push himself up onto the building.
Using the remaining magma still on the floor, Jogo created more of his tectonic fists, using them to distract Sukuna.
Sukuna's laughing had finally died down.
Jogo healed his wounds with cursed energy fully, then turned to Sukuna, attempting to be brave in the face of death.
The king of curses cut all of the tectonic fists apart effortlessly.
"That's not going to work, curse. You're getting desperate now.
How Pathetic."
"But you've entertained me, curse, and because of that, I'll let you live.
I've got bigger issues. I'll exorcise your fellow curse before he can transform. He may turn into a larger threat if I allow him to."
Sukuna waved his hand dismissively, not even looking Jogo in the eye.
"But you can take pride in the fact that you could even harm me. You are no weakling."
Sukuna now had his back turned and was walking away.
But even Sukuna, the king of curses himself, could never have ever imagined what was about to happen in the following two minutes.
Jogo lifted his hands, attempting to once again create a meteor. Or so, Sukuna thought.
"This battle isn't over, Ryomen Sukuna!"
The king of curses looked at Jogo once again, his expression filled with arrogance.
"That failed to kill me once, curse. Why do you think it will kill me now?"
"GREEN DISASTER FLAMES! MAXIMUM: METEOR SHOWER!"
