Ruby's eyes flicked to the end of the huge hall where Hunter was standing, with his arms folded on his chest.
Jerk! Why is he smiling?
He was looking at Sienna with a proud grin.
He never expressed himself when he was with me. What changed this time?
Ruby tried to smile, too conscious of people around her, "Hunter is our secretary, and I thought…"
She trailed off when Sienna shook her head and raised her index finger in warning, "My secretary!" She stepped closer to Ruby, "Hunter is my secretary, and the people working here— that's my staff. They are not here to run your personal errands. You want coffee? Go and get it for yourself."
There was dead silence in the lobby, and Ruby wished she could die and be reborn for the third time.
All the staff members were standing quietly, not daring to move, while Sienna held Ruby's gaze boldly.
Ruby lowered her eyes, "I understand, Sienna. And I apologize."
