Julia narrowed her eyes at Keith, who was grunting because Sarah wasn't picking up his calls. He cursed under his breath in clear irritation, and she could hear every word since she was sitting right in front of him. She scoffed cynically, then shifted her gaze to the left. They were at The Velvet Grill, one of the well-known steak bars in Midtown, Brooklyn, having dinner.
"Why didn't she pick up my phone?" Keith grunted again, more sharply this time. He half-threw his phone onto the table, then ran a hand through his hair in visible frustration.
Julia's expression showed both disinterest and annoyance at the same time. Even though she had slept with Keith, she disliked the reality that he was still her best friend's boyfriend. In fact, she hated even the thought of it lingering in her mind.
"Why don't you just leave her alone?" she snapped, unable to hold back her irritation anymore.
