Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Rebuilding from the Crater

All knew that since even the Uchiha,-the number one clan in Konoha, had upheld the Will of Fire and given up their ancestral compound, the smaller clans naturally couldn't be an exception.

Since that was the case, securing a better location for their new territories became the most urgent desire for all the clans.

"The Mitarashi clan claims this one-kilometer radius!"

"Your Mitarashi clan only has a handful of people; what makes you deserve such a large area? The Inuzuka clan already has our eyes on this land!"

"I won't fight you for this spot, but that area in the back belongs to the Shimura clan!"

When it came to clan interests, the various clan heads refused to yield an inch. For a time, the entire Jonin Council meeting grew as loud and chaotic as a bustling fish market.

However, none of this had anything to do with Fugaku and Jie Uchiha.

Given the Uchiha clan's prestige, no one in the current Konoha would dare try to snatch their claimed territory. Moreover, compared to this undignified scramble, the voice echoing in Jie's mind naturally brought him far more joy.

[Ding! Host has tacitly cooperated with Fugaku Uchiha to change the location of the Uchiha clan compound.]

[Reward Calculated: One architectural blueprint for the new clan compound, Sharingan visual prowess increased by 50%, and Clan Prestige +20!]

As the system's voice faded, a refreshing current surged through his mind and pooled into Jie's eyes.

'To think it could strengthen my visual prowess by fifty percent! Doesn't this mean I can smoothly awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan even without experiencing a massive emotional trauma?' Jie thought, his heart surging with excitement. 'The system is truly incredible!'

As for the system's other rewards, like the architectural blueprint, it wasn't convenient to take it out right now. He would hand it over to Fugaku when they officially moved to the new compound. Regarding the twenty points of Clan Prestige, it was Jie's first time receiving such a reward, and he was a bit unsure of its exact mechanics. However, as the name implied, it likely meant his reputation within the clan had grown, and his words would carry far more weight in the future.

After three hours of bickering, the Jonin Council meeting finally began to settle down. Looking at the expressions of the various clan heads, it was clear that they had all more or less satisfied their demands and snatched up an ideal piece of land for their new homes.

Hiruzen Sarutobi wanted to cry tears of frustration as his calculated scheme turned into a village-wide land grab. He had been caught completely off guard by Fugaku's stroke of genius. It resulted in all the prime real estate being divided up before he could even select a decent location for his own Sarutobi clan.

As the Hokage, it wasn't appropriate for him to openly fight with the other clan heads during the meeting. And now that the distribution of interests had been finalized, it was even more impossible. Even as the leader of the village, he couldn't risk offending every ninja clan by bringing the matter up again.

Hiruzen raised his eyes to glance at Danzo Shimura, whose face was ashen after having painfully lost his chance at the Hokage seat. 'My good brother, I can't be the only one to suffer this loss,' Hiruzen thought silently.

After the Jonin Council concluded, Fugaku and Jie returned home together. To prevent Hiruzen from going back on his word or pulling any more tricks, they decided the sooner they relocated the clan, the better.

That very night, Fugaku issued the order to relocate. By the next day, the entire Uchiha clan had packed up and left, leaving behind nothing but empty houses.

Although many days had passed, the aura of the Nine-Tails was still incredibly thick within the massive crater created by the Tailed Beast Bomb. However, it wouldn't have any adverse effects on normal living conditions.

Because the move was so rushed, the new compound was currently just a giant crater containing nothing but yellow dirt. But filling holes and building structures was absolutely nothing for a ninja clan. It was just like how the First Hokage could clap his hands, shout a jutsu, and instantly raise a brand-new residential complex from the ground—not to mention, those purely natural, eco-friendly treehouses were incredibly popular back in the day.

Although no one in the Uchiha clan knew Wood Release, there were quite a few who were proficient in Earth Release. With the combined efforts of numerous elite ninjas, the crater was quickly filled in, leaving behind solid, level ground.

Those who didn't know Earth Release headed into the surrounding forests to cut down trees. Under the sharp cutting power of Wind Release jutsu, massive trees toppled over before being dragged back to the compound. As for the artisans needed to build the houses, as long as one had money, hiring enough craftsmen wasn't an issue. And conveniently, with hundreds of years of heritage, the one thing the Uchiha clan didn't lack was money.

With everyone working together, a brand-new Uchiha clan compound was fully constructed in just two short months.

The new territory was larger and newer than the original, and critically, it was located much closer to the center of power in Konoha. Thanks to the blueprint rewarded by the system, the overall layout of the compound was incredibly logical. It maintained a strict level of privacy, making people feel secure, while its interconnected roads provided the clan members with a highly convenient lifestyle.

To have two seemingly conflicting functions perfectly integrated into a single blueprint—Jie figured only the system could pull off something like that.

Once the new compound was finished, Fugaku waved his hand and decided to hold a grand celebration. Firstly, it served as a housewarming party; secondly, it was a prime opportunity to build relations with the other clans.

Thus, that evening, the atmosphere within the Uchiha compound was incredibly harmonious for both ninjas and civilians alike. For a fleeting moment, the pain and trauma brought about by the Night of the Nine-Tails seemed to vanish completely.
