Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: I am back

Mount Olympus

The years passed, and Apollo had not forgotten the story Hestia told him about Damon. He wished he could dismiss it as nonsense... but Hestia had no reason to lie to him.

The worst part of all this was that, instead of killing his curiosity, it did the complete opposite.

He even traveled to Japan in search of information. Damon had a katana, right? The Japanese in the feudal era became known for their katanas and their mastery with them. While visiting a temple, Apollo learned two things he would never forget, and one of them was a katana...

The same katana he later found in museums dedicated to Greek mythology, a katana that supposedly belonged to Damon.

He asked the people there if they knew anything about it, and they all gave him the same answer: it was the first katana in history. Blacksmiths used it as inspiration to forge their own blades, claiming it was the strongest weapon ever known. In one thing they were right. The katana was known for being the deadliest bladed weapon in the world.

That was when Apollo began to understand Zeus's hatred toward Japan a little better.

Japan had remembered Damon's katana and tried to replicate it, refusing to let the world forget him the way Zeus wanted. After all, forgetting the first katana in history along with the man who wielded it was not exactly easy.

The second thing Apollo found there... he preferred to forget.

He did not even want to talk about it.

Still, not everything had been bad. Japanese culture was the most interesting thing he had found in thousands of years, and he fell in love with it almost instantly.

There was still something he did not understand.

Why did he always end up thinking about Damon in the middle of meetings?

It was probably because they were so boring. Today even demigods had come, the ones who would be leaving camp because they were now strong enough to survive on their own.

All the demigods were kneeling before Zeus in submission, making the King of Olympus puff out his chest with pride. He did not have much time to enjoy that feeling before a powerful gust of wind threw open the massive doors of the main temple.

"Kyaaa!" Aphrodite screamed as the wind ruined her hair.

The entire temple fell silent. The wind disappeared as suddenly as it had come... out of nowhere.

"What the—" He could not continue because the wind appeared again, but this time in the opposite direction. It rushed out of the hall as if it were a living thing with immense force, pushing the demigods back slightly and forcing them to cover their faces.

BOOOOM!

The sound echoed across all of Olympus as the doors of the main temple slammed shut with incredible force, making the whole hall tremble and leaving everyone inside in shock.

Apollo had not felt something like this since Typhon appeared. A chill ran down his spine.

Something is about to happen... I just hope it is nothing bad, the god of the sun thought

Greece

A new summer day was beginning. The heat could already be felt on the skin of every inhabitant, all dressed in short-sleeved clothes, all submerged in their own thoughts and paying little attention to their surroundings. Birds crossed the sky singing, searching for a mate or building nests to begin a new generation.

In a small forest, space itself seemed to warp for a few seconds, forming a strange blue entrance. A leg dressed in long dark reddish pants, adorned with white cords wrapped subtly around the calf, stepped out of the portal along with black sandals. The moment that happened, all the chaos caused by the birds stopped, as if they were observing the owner of that leg.

A man's full body emerged from the strange blue portal, dressed in the previously mentioned pants and a coal-black fur coat with a hood of the same color that covered his head and hid most of his face.

Moments later, two wolves crossed through the portal as well, each of them as large as horses. One was white as snow itself without a single imperfection in her fur, and the other was a little larger than the first, but black, just as intense as the man's coat.

The portal disappeared, leaving only the man and the two wolves behind. The black wolf began walking away from the group, giving only a glance back that made his intentions clear. They did not need words to understand each other... he would reunite with the pack, protect it, see the new generation, and explain the return of the man to his world, leaving only the white she-wolf and the hooded man alone.

They started walking, following the noises ahead of them, leaving the small forest until they reached a kind of town with paths and roads that looked very strange to the man's eyes... he did not like it at all. Being wise, he could feel nature as if it were his own body... and it was dying. Slowly, it was beginning to die. He could feel that it was sick, and the worst part was that very few people were trying to help it.

BEEEEEP BEEP BEEP

A strange and irritating sound pulled him from his thoughts, making him look toward the source of that annoying noise. A human, a man inside a metal carriage with no animal pulling it, leaned out through a kind of window while shaking his fist and yelling at him in a language that he recognized a little.

Looks like the Greek tongue is long gone, Damon thought, a little depressed. He had always appreciated hearing and learning new languages, but more than ever, he loved speaking in his mother tongue. Amaterasu had even learned it just to speak with him whenever they were alone, only so he could feel a little more at ease.

I suppose the dialect changed a little after so many years.

A voice spoke in his mind, the voice of the she-wolf who had always stayed by his side after all these years.

Kaia.

What a strange language. And here I thought Norse was weird, but this is on another level, a new voice joined the conversation, deep and rough. Damon, your world is much stranger than the Norse one.

Damon listened carefully while slowly stepping backward to get out of the metal carriage's path, watching the man keep yelling at him and stick his hand out as he drove away, raising his middle finger...

That action made the hooded blond sweat a little.

Kurama, the world has changed a lot... too much, actually, the she-wolf spoke again. When I left it to search for Damon with Orien, it was more similar to the Shinto pantheon.

A nostalgic smile appeared on the blond's face. How much time had passed since he left the Shinto pantheon? He did not even know anymore...

Well, it changed... but for the worse, another voice joined the conversation Damon was having inside himself. ...I can even feel from here how polluted the sea is.

Isobu is right. I can feel it too, said the enormous octopus with the head of a bull.

He sighed.

Damon, we have only been here for five minutes and your world is already disappointing me.

You have not seen anything yet, Kurama, Kaia replied.

Damon said nothing. He simply watched the metal carriage drive away, more specifically the pipe at the back that spat out a kind of black smoke, something he disliked immediately. That smoke was polluting the air and the sky. He used the power of his domain and was horrified by what he felt: the entire atmosphere was polluted by an excess of carbon dioxide, creating a layer that wrapped around the whole realm.

He clicked his tongue in annoyance while trying to forget that problem for now and focused on the mountain where his brothers and sisters were supposed to be...

He felt no one there.

Damon stretched out his left hand to touch the she-wolf, and they disappeared.

As you can see, he had his own adventure before arriving at PJ timeline. It's hard to make this correlate but it is what it is.
