Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: What the fck happened

Mount Olympus (Greece)

In a flash of light, Damon appeared with Kaia at the top of the mountain, the mountain that had been the main base in the war against the Titans, the mountain that had been a home for the children of Rhea and other divine entities... it was empty. Not a single structure, nor temples, not even rubble remained, there was nothing.

Damon began to walk toward the edge of the mountain followed by Kaia to see everything he could. Everything had changed. He saw how there were fairly developed populations around the mountain, where before he left there had been immense forests. Green was not the predominant color, now it was a gray indicating the color of the roads and several buildings...

What the hell was happening here...?

He could see part of the sea; at first glance it was noticeable that it had lost a bit of its light blue color near the shores.

On the horizon he could see a great dormant volcano with a completely snow-covered summit, but what caught his attention was feeling something powerful sealed within it, powerful enough to defeat Kurama... from what Amaterasu had told him, he deduced that that was where Typhon was...

'What the hell are my brothers doing?' the blond thought. Before feeling a presence behind him that he had not felt in many years...

"At last you return, Damon"

A hoarse voice could be heard coming from behind the blond.

He did not need to turn around, damn it, after so many years he still recognized the voice, how could he forget it when it was the voice of the primordial who had given him his domain.

"Uranus, what the fuck is going on here?" Damon asked.

"The consequences of bad government," Uranus replied. "Mortals no longer believe in the Greek gods. Most simply go on with their lives, leaving us in oblivion. Some have even transferred their beliefs to other religions, weakening Greek mythology even more."

"And it seems that none of the gods care. They do nothing to stop famines, wars, or conflicts. Only some seriously fulfill their responsibilities, but it is useless if the others do not do their part. They spend their time fooling around, believing themselves the owners of everything and fighting among themselves," Uranus said seriously.

Damon lowered his head, still hidden beneath the black hood. Since the moment he fought Elohim and since he helped the Norse reconcile among themselves, he had asked himself again and again what state his pantheon would be in... but he had never expected it to have fallen so low.

"Mortals are playing at being gods with what they call science. They want to control everything, clone animal species, control the environment however they want, create islands, make weapons to destroy half a country," Uranus said while approaching Damon and placing a hand on his shoulder, feeling that sea of deep emotions.

"Zeus does nothing to stop it, and that is pissing off people from above, Damon."

Damon looked to his left, toward the hand on his shoulder, and then observed the primordial.

"Gaia," Damon said, receiving a nod from Uranus.

"She is one of the most affected. After all, what is suffering the consequences of human actions is Nature. Even Pan, the god of Nature, has faded away, since he also did not care about his own domain. And the gods and goddesses related to that domain can only go so far. Even so, most also do not fulfill their duties as they should... nor do they work together as they should."

Damon could not help but sigh while listening to the primordial.

Several presences began to gather around the two men and the she-wolf, but they did nothing. They only listened attentively to the conversation between Damon and Uranus. Damon felt them arrive.

It was funny. The first time he met them he could not even feel them. Now he had no doubt that he could probably defeat most of them in a one-on-one... that made him a little happy. At least he was no longer an ant.

Setting those thoughts aside, he turned his attention back to Uranus.

"Gaia is the one who longs most for your return, she trusts that you will be the one to change this without her having to take other more... drastic actions," Uranus added.

Damon raised his right hand to his face before lightly hitting himself.

As the god of order... he knew perfectly well what Uranus meant. There was a reason why it was vital to maintain order, not only among the gods, but also among mortals.

Otherwise, too many things could go wrong. One of them was that humans themselves would end up destroying each other, slowly dragging the Greek gods into oblivion because of the lack of morality and values capable of sustaining order and a common consciousness among mortals.

It had happened before.

The Sumerian pantheon was sufficient proof of that. When mortals left behind the world that gave meaning to their gods, they ended up falling into oblivion along with it. One only had to look at the Middle East, at countries like Iraq: abandoned lands, directionless, with constant instability spreading throughout the region.

The Norse pantheon was also heading that way if the wars among the gods had not been stopped...

Or, on the other hand, the primordials could simply stop considering the Greek pantheon a major one, gradually lowering it in rank until it became a third-rate pantheon.

The best example of this was the Aztec pantheon. It was enough to look at the region they once ruled.... a place trapped in backwardness, poverty, and constant decline.

In conclusion, if they did not destroy themselves, they would eventually end up in oblivion... and that was without counting the influence of external forces. If they interfered, everything could end much worse. Damon did not even want to imagine it.

Damon let out another sigh

"Fuck," he said out loud while his hand remained on his face. "Why does everything I am involved in end up with an unrecognizable ending if I do not prevent it?" he continued. "I always have to fix the screwups of some mental retard... Kronos, and now Zeus"

The blond's statements made those present smile in amusement and Uranus began to laugh uncontrollably, earning a growl and a frown from Damon.

"It is not funny, Uranus," the blond said annoyed, while inside Damon, Kurama had a sweat drop at the attitude of a primordial strong enough to crush him completely.

"JAJAJAJAJA, didn't you say you wanted peace for your loved ones?" Uranus said between laughs. "That is achieved through actions"

"hahaha..... although you have already achieved it several times," the primordial added while controlling his laughter.

Damon looked at the primordial who had given him the sky with confusion and one eyebrow raised hidden behind the hood, but he remained silent, letting him have his moment....

After a few seconds, Uranus finally calmed down and looked at him again with a smile.....

"The Olympic gods are in the United States since they follow the West," Uranus said, raising a hand and pointing toward the horizon.

"The West?" Damon asked while using his omnipresence.

He began to feel all the terrain in the direction Uranus was pointing, country by country, until he felt twelve divine presences together with other presences between divine and human. Some resembled the essence of one of the twelve... their children, or so the blond believed, gathered there.

"It is the human world power, Olympus moves along with them: Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, and finally the United States," Uranus replied.

"Greek mythology"

Damon looked back at Uranus and waited for him to continue speaking.

"You have to read everything related to Greek mythology, it will tell you everything that has happened from the time you left until today," he sighed. "I warn you that you are not going to like it"

Damon only nodded, already expecting this beforehand.

Ahhhh... whenever Amaterasu wanted to tell him something about this, he was the one who said he did not want to know. He could not regret one more thing in his life, right?...

He placed a hand on the she-wolf once again and began to glow slowly, disappearing not before saying:

"It has been a pleasure to see you all again"

And he disappeared before receiving a response.

The blond's words before disappearing brought another small smile from the primordials who remained behind Damon and Uranus.

"He has grown," Ananke said without hiding the smile that formed on her face.
