Chapter 35: Marikawa Shizuka's Little Hobby

"Wow, little Suyan! What was that move you just did? That was amazing!"

Feeling the sheer hostility radiating from Suyan's glare, Shizuka suddenly felt her jaw ache in sympathy.

Sensing immediate danger, she rapidly attempted to change the subject.

"Do you really think acting cute is going to save you this time, Shizuka?" Suyan demanded, taking a step toward her.

"Ehehe~"

Realizing her deflection had completely failed, Shizuka lightly tapped her own head with her knuckles, sticking her tongue out in a textbook anime attempt to play dumb.

"Don't you 'ehehe' me."

Suyan wasn't buying it for a second. He cracked his knuckles, advancing on her like a predator cornering its prey. "Have you decided how you want to die?"

"Saeko, save me!"

Shizuka's face paled dramatically. She immediately bolted over to Saeko, who had been watching the drama unfold, and desperately signaled for an SOS.

Saeko didn't hesitate for a second. She wrapped her arms around the trembling nurse, pulling her into a protective embrace.

She gently patted Shizuka's back, her voice soothing. "Don't worry, Shizuka. I've got you."

Shizuka looked up at her, tears welling in her eyes. "Saeko, you really are a good person."

Feeling safe, Shizuka peered over Saeko's shoulder and playfully winked at Suyan.

Provocation. That was undeniable provocation!

Oh, so you want to play rough, Shizuka?

Suyan narrowed his eyes. He absolutely could not let this slide.

If he let her get away with taunting him today, who knew what she'd try tomorrow? She'd probably try to assert dominance and sit on his face!

Suyan marched right up to Saeko, his tone challenging. "Senior Saeko, are you absolutely sure you want to protect her?"

"Of course..."

Saeko glanced down at Shizuka in her arms. A distinctly wicked gleam flashed in her eyes as she dragged out the syllables, "...I won't!"

"Suyan, I've got her pinned! Hurry up and teach her a lesson!"

In a fluid, lightning-fast motion, Saeko shoved Shizuka face-first onto the infirmary bed and firmly pinned her down.

"Eh?!"

Shizuka was completely dumbfounded.

Weren't we on the same team?!

Why did you suddenly betray me?!

If Saeko knew what Shizuka was thinking, she would have scoffed.

Who said we were on the same team?

Yes, Shizuka had ruined Suyan and Rei's moment today. But half a month ago, the moment Shizuka had ruined was Saeko's moment with Suyan.

Saeko hadn't forgotten that slight.

While she wouldn't hold a genuine grudge against the airheaded nurse, she was more than happy to throw her under the bus and serve her up to Suyan on a silver platter.

Even Suyan was slightly taken aback by Saeko's ruthless betrayal.

He hadn't expected Saeko—who usually acted more like a mature, responsible older sister than Shizuka did—to have such a deviously petty streak.

"Any last words, Shizuka?"

Smack!

Suyan brought his hand down, landing a firm, echoing slap right on Shizuka's incredibly plump, peach-shaped rear.

The flesh jiggled with such perfect, supple elasticity that even Saeko couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy.

Shizuka lifted her head from the mattress, looking at Suyan with massive, teary puppy-dog eyes. "Little Suyan, is there any chance you could let me off the hook?"

"What do you think?" Suyan raised an eyebrow.

"I think I can still be saved," Shizuka offered weakly.

"It's not about what you think. It's about what I think," Suyan shot back.

With that, Shizuka completely gave up.

She went entirely limp on the bed, adopting a stance of total resignation. Do whatever you want to me, I won't resist.

Suyan glanced around the room.

Saeko was enthusiastically holding Shizuka down, her eyes practically sparkling with sadistic amusement. She was absolutely loving the show.

Rei was still standing off to the side, her face crimson, staring blankly at the floor. She was clearly still trapped in her own personal hell of embarrassment and hadn't noticed the current situation at all.

As for Saya, the girl with whom they were least familiar, she was staring blankly into space, an expression of profound existential dread etched onto her face. She was entirely checked out of reality.

Despite the perfect opportunity, Suyan ultimately decided not to take things any further with Shizuka here.

His level of shamelessness was far from the point where he could confidently declare himself a tyrannical emperor, reveling in a Wine Pool and Meat Forest.

Suyan leaned down until his lips brushed Shizuka's ear, delivering a low, dangerous whisper. "I'll deal with you properly tonight."

Shizuka's ears twitched. For a fraction of a second, a flash of unmistakable anticipation and joy danced in her golden eyes.

She quickly suppressed it, burying her face in the mattress and letting out a melodramatic whine. "Noooo~"

But that fleeting shift in emotion hadn't escaped Suyan's notice.

He suddenly felt a deep well of suspicion.

Wait a minute. Did she ruin the mood on purpose?

Did she do it specifically so I'd 'punish' her later?

Is she actually into this?!

If that were true, then punishing her wouldn't be a punishment at all. It would be a reward!

Suyan's eyes darkened as he considered his options. He leaned back down, whispering into her ear once more. "Actually, I changed my mind. I'm not going to touch you tonight. You're sleeping alone."

"Huh?!"

Shizuka froze. Her breathing hitched, instantly becoming shallow and frantic. "W-Why?!" she demanded, completely dropping the act.

Unbelievable, Suyan thought.

He had to admit, Shizuka's perpetually ditzy, airheaded persona was an incredibly effective disguise.

It made him forget her actual profession: a licensed doctor.

In Japan, being a doctor wasn't just a regular job. It required immense intelligence and commanded massive respect. As Ai Haibara famously noted in Detective Conan, the children of politicians become politicians, the children of bankers become bankers, and the children of doctors become doctors.

The fact that doctors were grouped alongside the political and financial elites spoke volumes about their societal status.

Furthermore, Shizuka was skilled enough to manufacture her own high-grade medical salves from scratch, which were significantly better than anything sold over the counter.

A woman capable of all that couldn't possibly be a genuine idiot.

Realizing he'd been played, Suyan rolled his eyes. "Shizuka, if you want something, just ask. There's no need to play these games. If you ruin my mood like that again, I'm actually going to get angry."

"A-Ara? What are you talking about, Little Suyan? I don't understand a word you're saying," Shizuka stammered, frantically trying to resurrect her ditzy persona.

The time she had interrupted Suyan and Saeko a few weeks ago had genuinely been an accident.

But this time?

Shizuka had absolutely possessed ulterior motives.

She did feel a little bad for Rei, though.

That "accident" a few weeks ago had awakened a very specific, very insistent little hobby inside her, and she was having a hard time controlling it.

Even though her relationship with Suyan was highly 'intimate,' she couldn't just come out and say what she wanted.

What if Suyan thought she was a perverted, loose woman?

Suyan just sighed and shook his head, looking up at Saeko. "Alright, Senior Saeko. You can let her go."

"Aw, it's over already?"

Saeko blinked, looking genuinely disappointed as she released her grip.

Suyan ignored the comment and walked over to the window.

He closed his eyes. The aura inside him surged outward like a tidal wave, rippling through the air.

However, this aura wasn't the explosive, destructive force he used for combat. It was soft, pervasive, and completely invisible.

The aura rapidly expanded, forming a perfect, undetectable sphere with a radius of fifty meters, blanketing the surrounding area.

While it wasn't large enough to cover the entirety of Fujimi Academy, it easily encompassed the infirmary and the adjacent buildings.

This advanced technique was called En!

It was an advanced application combining the principles of Ten and Ren.

Within the radius of his En, Suyan essentially had omniscient radar, allowing him to clearly sense the shape and movement of everything inside it.

However, projecting an En this massive was a first for Suyan, and maintaining it drained his Nen reserves rapidly.

The moment he confirmed there were absolutely no living humans left in their immediate vicinity, he immediately retracted his aura.

Playtime was over.

Suyan turned around, locking eyes with Saeko. "Senior Saeko... are you ready to show what you can do?"
