I looked at her coldly, and said, "Exactly, but since you already know, why bother, you're just plain foolish and you don't know your own worth, you say you don't want to be my friend anymore, fine 'Ex Bestie', but don't come crying to me when Henry hurts you, because from today henceforth, I, Ann have nothing to do with you anymore !!, and don't bother to apologise to me I've already forgiven you", and with that I walked away, leaving Mary shocked and by passers staring.
She knew I was always blunt and straightforward, but shocked that I let go of her immediately, she wondered if Henry didn't come into her life, if we would still be besties, but there's no 'what if's' in this world, what's done is done and there's no turning back, she regretted everything she'd said and did.
With a sigh she walked back to the class with a heavy heart, thinking of how, because of her boyfriend, she no longer had a best friend, and she failed her tests !!, "Mum and Dad are gonna be really mad", she said to her self, "Hey babe", a familiar male voice disrupted her thoughts, it was Henry, "Speak of the devil", she thought rolling her eyes inwardly, suppressing her irritation.
Irritation?, Yes, because of him she and Ann are no longer friends, because he obviously doesn't love her, she knew, but still wanted him, she wondered if Ann was right, "Am I stupid ??", she said almost inaudibly, "No", came the reply, she looked up and saw Henry gazing deeply into her eyes and all she felt was disgust and irritation, but it all soon faded away as Henry kissed her, she felt her cheeks heat up, then she regained her clarity and pushed him away, Henry looked at her stunned and unable to believe it.
"Are you alright ??", He asked her in a soft voice, but instead of a response, SMACK!!, a slap landed on Henry's face which Echoed down the hall, his head snapped to the side from the impact of the slap. He was shocked because no one had dared to slap him, NOT EVEN HIS OWN MOTHER!!!!!, he was furious.
"Are you crazy!!!!!!, How DARE you slap me !!!??!!!", He was practically seething with anger,
When she pushed and slapped him she didn't know what came over her so she quickly apologised, "Henry, I'm so sorry, it's just that, Ann and I are no longer besties, she left me because of you, she said you're not the one....."
His expression changed dramatically, from initial shock to understanding, then he affectionately ruffled her hair, "So she's the reason for your attitude ?"
"Yes, and I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hit you, do you forgive me??"
Henry thought to himself, "What a foolish girl she is, your bestie pulled you out of a lion's den and you willingly walked back in", instead he said,
"Don't listen to her, okay, ??, if there's anyone not meant for anyone it's her not meant for you ok??"
"Ok", she said, and they both walked away.
For a whole month, I didn't see Mary and neither did she see me, and I liked it that way, I guess, she brought this upon herself, if only she listened to me none of all this would be happenin, Sigh.
Anyways, there are two girls I'm talking with, Favour and Esther, and we're really close, we could be considered besties, only that we're not, and I heard that Mary has a new bestie named Victoria, Mary oh Mary, she doesn't learn. Victoria is known for her two faced nature, and she likes to gossip, Sigh, look at Mary, 'from frying pan to fire', I thought.
When I got home, I told my mum all that happened in school, and she just sighed and said, "Sweetie, you were trying to help her and she clearly didn't appreciate it, some people just don't deserve your help", she said, then affectionately ruffled my hair, "Ok mum, I'm done helping her, she has her own life to live and I have mine, I won't interfere in her matters anymore, unless it's absolutely necessary", I said, my mum just smiled and went to sit with my dad, leaving me deep in thought.
