I remember that I said Mary has a new friend, Victoria, the gossip, she really doesn't know what she has gotten herself into.
One day Victoria came to me.
"Ann do you know that Mary is very foolish, like she left you for that jerk, he doesn't treat her right and she's still clinging to him like what??, she doesn't have any sense of shame for herself".
She rambled on and on and I thought, 'what do you expect when you're friends with a gossip', sigh.
"Victoria, you shouldn't say these things about Mary, she's in love, and when she realises her mistakes, I hope it won't be too late".
"Alright Ann, honestly I don't know if Mary saved a galaxy in her past life to have a bestie like you, oh ....", she covered her mouth, "Ex - Bestie, I better get going, bye".
I don't know why but I felt hurt at the mention of 'Ex-Bestie', I don't know why but I did.
"Bye", I managed to say suppressing my hurt. I already knew that Victoria would say what I didn't, and Mary would storm up to me demanding for an explanation, so I recorded my conversation with Victoria, and just as I predicted, Victoria went to Mary and twisted my words.
"She said you're crazy and not in love, that by the time you realise it, it'll be too late, and Henry would have used you up and no one, no one at all, no guy would want to be with you", as expected, Mary nearly exploded with rage,
"What!!!!, how dare she, I'll go find her Victoria, you stay here", "No Mary don't go, if you do, Ann will know I.....", "Don't worry", she cut her off, and stormed out.
She found me and started hurling insults at me, "You shameless thing..., why can't you just stay away from me...., I hat...", I cut her off sharply,
"People usually listen to both sides of the story, but you are obviously blind so you won't, now, while you're here, why don't you listen to this recording", I play the recording as Mary's eyes widened with shock and realisation, "How do I know if that recording is fake", She still asked doubting
"You think I would go through all the trouble of forging a recording for your sake??, I'd rather let you misunderstand", she just apologised and left in a hurry. While leaving she thought, 'So I really misunderstood her'.
Sigh, Mary, oh Mary, what have you gotten yourself into.
The following days came and went as quickly as they came, and for some time I haven't seen Mary, well it's for the best, I thought.
Meanwhile, I had a new seat mate, named Favour, we became good friends, I wasn't ready for a new best friend, because I didn't want to experience the pain of being abandoned. Abandoned?, yes, that's what I felt when Mary left me for Henry, and she doesn't even believe me, or listen to me, she was the light in my world, but now she's gone, sigh.
Anyways, Favour is an amazing girl, she's really nice and generous, graceful and beautiful, I like her, a lot.
"What does that favour girl have that I don't, why does she get to hang out with Ann!!?, I'm her best friend!!", Mary said.
Victoria cleared her throat, "Ex bestie, you said so yourself"
"So what??, She should have known that I was just venting my frustrations on her, and she shouldn't have taken it seriously "
I was walking around when I overheard Mary's last statement,
"So I shouldn't have taken it seriously and you were just angry, then why didn't you apologize", I said, which startled them both, and they were both speechless, especially Mary, she was shocked and embarrassed at the same time.
"You know what??, pretend I was never here", I said and left, because I didn't want to talk with Mary, and her gossip of a friend.
As they watched my retreating figure, Mary muttered to herself "I think made a mistake",
"What??", Victoria said, but the response she got was Mary walking away, leaving her standing there confused.
Later that day, we didn't have any class, and my classmates decided to play a game of truth or dare.
