'I should really go and fight too…' Alerya was currently laying down on her bed looking at the roof of her room, she couldn't sleep, she was thinking if she really had to go and help them.
Her bed was really big, it had always been the bed for the king of the city. After the death of her father, she was able to sleep here. The room was all decorated with beautiful gems and paintings of the old kings. Alerya was one of the few queens Therya had; she hadn't married before the death of her father, she only focused on getting stronger to work for the Veilguards, she had never cared about marrying in her life.
'Why am I even thinking this… I have to defend the people of my city,' she kept thinking. Her eyes wouldn't close, she couldn't stop thinking about the fact that soon she would attack the people of her own city.
'But they are also from Therya… a queen should always protect her people… not fight them.' Alerya suddenly stood up and got next to the painting of her father, one of her hands was on top of her father's head. "Right, father?" asked her as she looked up towards the head of the king as her hand slid down the painting. "I still wonder who killed you… I promise I will find the one who did it and punish them."
The following day, Alerya, as usual, woke up before everyone else. It was still 6 a.m., and she had to get ready. The first thing she always did was put her armor on. Thanks to this, she was able to use her power perfectly without getting too injured or receiving a fatal injury.
This armor was a gift from her father. Knowing the power of his daughter, the old king asked the blacksmith of the city to create an armor that had different buttons on it. Thanks to these buttons, some spikes would start to pierce into the skin of the one wearing it. Anyone else would hate such a useless armor, but not someone like Alerya, who could use it perfectly fine.
As she entered the room of the Veilguards, it was empty and cold. The last evening she had left the window open because she was too distracted. As she closed the window behind her desk, she grabbed some papers and sat down on the sofa, and she started to work.
A few hours later, Allocen was the first one to wake up, and knowing that he would find Alerya in the meeting room, he immediately got there. As he opened the door, he found Alerya working on the papers.
Allocen remained silent and sat down on the sofa in front of Alerya. Both of them remained silent, waiting for the others to wake up. "In the end, I will probably come too," said Alerya, breaking the silence. Allocen nodded his head, "Do you know when Liro and Kael will recover? Have you got some information from Lara?" asked Allocen. Alerya put down the papers on the small table in front of her.
"Both of them aren't risking their lives anymore. Lara said it will take around three days for them to recover," said her as she grabbed the papers again and returned to work. They both stayed silent for some other minutes until Vane and Darian entered the room. Both of them were more relaxed and ready for another day. Darian had, as always, Snowy on his shoulder.
"We're ready, princess!" said Vane with a smile on his face, breaking the silence at the door. Both Allocen and Alerya turned towards him. "Sit down… I'll explain the plan," said Alerya, getting up from the sofa and walking towards her desk to leave the papers there. Darian and Vane sat down on the floor looking directly towards her. Snowy jumped down from Darian's shoulder and curled up next to him.
"The city needs to be free… we will do our best to attack them and win this battle. They have knocked out Liro and Kael, but this won't stop us," said Alerya as she sat down on the desk looking over the Veilguards. Darian seemed a bit worried, thinking about the condition of his two friends.
'I hope it isn't something bad…' thought him as he looked down. As he glanced over at Alerya, who had noticed him feeling sad hearing that, she smiled. Darian understood that they weren't in life danger anymore.
"We will divide into three teams. Darian and Vane, you two will go together, while me and Allocen will go alone," added Alerya as she moved her eyes directly to Allocen, who nodded. "For me, it is alright," answered Allocen.
"Do we just need to wander around the city and fight if we find any of them?" asked Vane. Alerya nodded, "As I've told you before, the city needs to be free. We have to stop them… bring them alive so we can question them," said Alerya as she got down from the desk. She walked towards the door, leading their team like a true leader.
"The citizens are waiting for us, let's go," said her as she turned behind, smiling. Her team got up and walked behind her. "Perfect," said her as she led the way outside.
"Everyone, if you find their base, come and search for us, but if you find one of them… fight against them. I know that you're all able to win," said her, smiling. Everyone did the same too.
"Don't worry, princess, we got this," said Vane as he put his arm around Darian's shoulder, making Snowy fall on the ground. Everyone laughed a bit at the sight of that. Allocen, as always, was the only one who remained with his usual face. "We should go," said him.
Everyone turned serious again except for Vane, who was still smiling and laughing with his hand on his lips.
"Well…" said Alerya as she turned around, her back facing her team. "See you later, guys," added Alerya as she started to walk away. Everyone else did the same.
Somewhere else…
In another room, Gyardibus was with his eyes closed, focusing on something. Near the Veilguards' building, there was a small seedling that was hiding; he was controlling this small creature to spy on the Alterids. "They started moving," said him after noticing that they went their separate ways.
"What did you discover, bosss??" asked Octavia as she got closer to Gyardibus. Dane walked silently close to them. "They split into three groups," answered Gyardibus. He couldn't even continue speaking before Octavia interrupted him almost immediately. "Ohhh, I want to fight the animal oneee!" shouted her. Gyardibus nodded, "She is with the one who can use ice… are you sure you can take two of them at once?" asked him, knowing that Octavia was the weakest one of the three; she might suffer a bit.
"Donnn'tt worryy… I promise I will survive," said her with a mischievous grin on her face. She then headed towards the exit. "Well, you two don't faillll…" said her as fire came out of her feet and, with a huge jump, she was out of the cave. "I suggest that we don't split up," said Dane. Gyardibus agreed with him.
"We could take one of them alone…" whispered Gyardibus, thinking about how he could bait them and which one. "Baiting the princess is too risky… let's go for the one who can use earth magic," said Dane as he put his hand over Gyardibus's shoulder.
"I'll take care of the bait… I already came up with something, boss…" said him. Gyardibus looked over behind. "I trust you," said Gyardibus as Dane pointed to something inside the cave. "We will use one of them…" said Dane after laughing in a crazy and mad way.
"I wonder if we will be able to find their base…" said Darian as he walked around with Vane, who looked a bit annoyed. "I just want to find that weird woman and fight her, I need my revenge," answered Vane. Suddenly they heard the sound of someone jumping.
"Now, Snowy!" shouted Darian as Snowy fused together with him, entering always from his arm. As he and Vane turned around, they saw Octavia, who looked towards them with her mischievous grin.
"I got lucky to find you almost immediatelyyyy…" said her as she tilted her head, looking directly at Darian and Vane. Without even giving them time to react, she immediately rushed towards them with fire under her feet. She was about to strike a powerful kick towards them.
