The time for me to get over my heart's drama would come naturally. A few glasses of strong cocktails would definitely help do the trick. I have faith in that.

My phone vibrated against my thigh as a call from John came through. "Yeah? Are you here?"
"Just got here. Come down and get your lunch. Oh, and you won't believe who I just met—"
"Give me five minutes." I hung up, not particularly interested in which friend of his he'd bumped into on the street. He would tell me anyway once I went down.
"Ben, my brother's here. I'll be right back." While he was occupied on a call, I whispered the message, receiving a distracted nod in return. Mum had made me lunch for today. She had insisted on sending it because I'd forgotten it at home, but mostly, she'd made it because of my gloomy mood lately.
"I'll make you something delicious so you can feel your Mum's love, yeah?" That's what she'd said to me while I stubbornly refused to tell her what had me so depressed.
