Chapter 7 - How it started

Bitna got home wet from the rain, it had started to drizzle not far from when she left the penthouse. Surprisingly, her father was not home but she still dropped the money on the table. She went to her room and took a shower, making sure she scrubbed every part of her body. Even if she knew it wouldn't erase what she had done. Later, she laid on her bed

The soft pitter patter of the rain keeping her company putting her troubled mind at ease. She had always loved the rain. She remembered running in the rain, her mother's hearty laughter, soothing like a sweet lullaby. She remembered her warm embrace after a stormy night. Times when her world was complete and bright.

But them her mother died and that brightness suddey dimmed. She uses to live alone with her mother because her father was an abuser. She didn't know about it then, not until he got custody of her after her mom's death. Her mom's family never cared about her, as long as they could get rid of the extra baggage their shameful daughter brought to them. Thinking back, she couldn't believe how excited she was to meet her father. Her pairs in neighbourhood always talked about their fathers, how strong they were. A literal hero. They would always say she was bad luck since her mother died and her father.. no where to be found. She was so happy to prove them wrong, to meet her hero but, she was let down. He treated her so badly. He'll make her steal alcohol for him and would beat her up if she didn't bring enough. She had leatnt to pick up scraps from food in restaurants for her meals when she was eight. Sometimes she would get chased, and sometimes the shop owner would be kind enough to give her a proper meal which was rare.

She was fifteen when she knew the president. Her father had came home, happy and surprisingly nice to her. They had a lovely meal together, one she hadn't had in years. She was a small, scrawny kid with pale skin. Even with her poor nutrition, she grew up pretty, her thin waist a testament to her meager meals. Her father had laughed with her calling her his beautiful daughter for the first time. He had never for once looked at her with eyes that kind. His eyes were always filled with disdain, he would always talk of how he hates her because she looked so much like her mother. He even told her to cut her hair, which she followed blindly cause she wanted his attention so much..

He bought a dress the next day, the fabric pink and pretty complementing her soft skin. The best dress she had ever worn. He said they were to meet someone who would sponsor her education. She followed him to the restaurant, happy and content. The man seemed pleasant aside from his stare which made her uncomfortable. " This is my daughter" her father had said. She's a jewel, I'll take her. Confused, she just smiled politely.

She was taken to the penthouse that day. Her father had told her to do whatever he asked. The beauty of the place was mesmerized as it still is to her. The man whom she got to later know as President choi was so nice to her, until she was taken to a room. She had asked him what she was there for but his only reply was to pull off his belt and drag her towards the bed.

She had cried, shouted even when she was slaped she still didn't give up, screaming for someone, anyone to save her. The ripping of her clothes gave her a new profound strength and she managed to kick him off her. She had fan to the door, threw it open only to be met by a bodyguard who striked her on the head with barrel. Everything had went dark...
