Chapter 60 - Chapter Nine – The Lion’s Den

The convoy cut through the darkness like a blade.

Black vehicles.

Engines roaring.

Headlights slicing through the empty highway leading out of the city.

Inside the lead car, Alessandro sat in silence.

Still.

Focused.

Deadly.

Adrian sat in the passenger seat, checking his weapon for the third time.

"I just want to say…"

"This feels like a terrible idea."

No response.

Adrian sighed.

"Okay, good talk."

The Approach

Valentina's voice came through the comms.

"You're two minutes out."

"Thermal scans show heavy security."

"How heavy?" Adrian asked.

"A small army."

Adrian leaned back.

"…of course it is."

Alessandro finally spoke.

"Any weak points?"

A pause.

Then—

"Yes."

"Western perimeter. Minimal coverage."

"Because it's a trap," Luca's voice cut in through the comm.

Everyone went quiet.

Adrian frowned.

"Why are we still listening to him?"

Luca's voice remained calm.

"Because I'm the only one who understands how they think."

Alessandro's tone was ice.

"Then talk."

The Trap Explained

"They want you to come in strong," Luca continued.

"Fast."

"Angry."

Adrian glanced at Alessandro.

"…well, that part is accurate."

"They'll let you break through the outer defenses," Luca said.

"And once you're inside…"

"Kill zone."

Valentina confirmed it.

"He's right."

"Multiple choke points inside the compound."

Alessandro's eyes darkened.

"Then we don't go in blind."

The Plan

The convoy slowed.

Alessandro looked at Adrian.

"We split."

Adrian blinked.

"Oh?"

"You take half the men."

"Create noise at the front."

Adrian grinned slightly.

"I like noise."

"I'll take the rest through the west."

"Straight to Elena."

Adrian nodded.

"Try not to die before I get there."

Alessandro didn't respond.

He just stepped out of the car.

The Fortress

The Syndicate base loomed ahead.

Massive walls.

Reinforced gates.

Floodlights scanning the perimeter.

Guards stationed everywhere.

It looked impossible to breach.

Adrian cracked his neck.

"Alright…"

"Let's ruin their night."

The First Strike

Explosion.

The front gate erupted into flames as Adrian's team launched the first attack.

Gunfire followed immediately.

Loud.

Chaotic.

Relentless.

Guards rushed to respond.

Alarms screamed across the compound.

Exactly as planned.

The Shadow Entry

On the western side—

Alessandro moved like a ghost.

Silent.

Precise.

Two guards turned the corner—

They didn't even have time to react.

Both dropped instantly.

He didn't stop moving.

Didn't hesitate.

Every second mattered.

Inside the Cage

Meanwhile—

Elena stood in the same room.

But something had changed.

The energy inside her felt stronger now.

More controlled.

Less frightening.

More… hers.

She clenched her fist slightly.

The lights flickered again.

This time—

She didn't panic.

She focused.

And the flickering stopped.

The Door Opens

Sebastian entered once more.

"You feel it now."

Elena turned toward him.

"Yes."

"And?"

Her voice was calm.

Cold.

"It changes nothing."

Sebastian smiled.

"It changes everything."

The Assault Intensifies

Gunfire echoed through the compound.

Explosions shook the walls.

Sebastian didn't react.

Didn't even look concerned.

"He's here," Elena said quietly.

Sebastian nodded.

"Yes."

"And you're not worried?"

A small smile.

"No."

The Lion Arrives

Alessandro moved through the halls like death itself.

Every guard in his path fell.

Every obstacle removed.

Fast.

Efficient.

Unstoppable.

A door stood ahead.

Guarded.

Locked.

He didn't slow down.

He kicked it open.

Face to Face

The room went still.

Elena's breath caught.

"…Alessandro."

He stepped inside.

Gun raised.

Eyes locked onto her.

"You're coming home."

Sebastian chuckled softly behind her.

"Not yet."

The Confrontation

Alessandro's gaze shifted.

Landing on Sebastian.

Everything in the room changed.

Tension.

Danger.

Power.

"You took what belongs to me," Alessandro said coldly.

Sebastian tilted his head slightly.

"She doesn't belong to you."

Elena stepped forward.

"I'm not property."

Both men went silent for a second.

Adrian's distant voice echoed faintly through the comms.

"…I feel like I missed something important."

Clash of Kings

Sebastian stepped forward.

"And yet…"

"Here we are."

Alessandro didn't waste another second.

He fired.

Sebastian moved.

Fast.

Faster than expected.

The bullet missed.

Elena's eyes widened.

"…he's fast."

Sebastian smiled.

"You're not the only one with advantages."

The Fight Begins

In an instant—

The room exploded into action.

Alessandro lunged forward.

Sebastian countered.

Their movements were brutal.

Precise.

Calculated.

Two predators colliding.

Elena stepped back, heart racing.

This wasn't a normal fight.

This was something else entirely.

The Awakening Trigger

Suddenly—

A stray bullet ricocheted.

Heading straight toward Elena.

Time slowed.

Her eyes widened.

And instinct took over.

The air around her pulsed.

The bullet—

Stopped.

Mid-air.

Silence

Everything froze.

Alessandro.

Sebastian.

Even the chaos outside felt distant.

The bullet dropped to the floor.

Harmless.

Elena stared at her own hands.

"…what did I just do?"

The Realization

Sebastian smiled slowly.

Not surprised.

Not shocked.

Pleased.

"There it is."

Alessandro looked at her.

For the first time—

Not with fear.

But with awe.

The Shift

Elena lifted her gaze.

Something had changed.

Inside her.

The fear was gone.

Replaced with something stronger.

Something dangerous.

She looked at Sebastian.

Then at Alessandro.

And for the first time—

The Queen truly awakened.
