Chapter 3 - chapter 2

The day finally arrived for me to move into my apartment, and I was super happy looking at all my provisions and stuff that was gonna be mine . After Sunday service, I held my phone and waited for the driver who's gonna drive me to the park. We waited for like two hours before he arrived, apologizing for taking a long time, saying he was somewhere far.

My dad was like, "How could you? I told you to be here on time."

And he was like, "Sorry sir, don't be annoyed."

Then he took us to the park. My dad told him he'd follow me there to help me arrange some stuff, so we entered the bus. After dragging price for my loads , we arrived to Ife, then we took a bike to the street where my apartment is.

When I arrived, I found out I wasn't the only one moving in that day; some other people were there too. We greeted each other, and my dad helped me set up everything. I was happy looking at my new place, gonna stay alone for the first time.

After we were done setting up my apartment, my dad took me to meet the landlady. As we were leaving, he said, "This is my daughter, she's going to campus, please look after her for me"

"No problem" she said.

My dad stayed for a while, then said goodbye, "Chichi, take care of yourself. Now you're alone."

I told him, "Daddy, don't worry, I've proved to all of you that I can stay alone." Then he left.

I looked around my apartment, grinning from ear to ear,

"Oh my God, I'm gonna stay alone for the first time!"

Evening arrived, I opened my provisions, bought out noodles, ate three pieces, and pressed my phone to keep myself busy 'cause I was gonna go around the next day to complete my registration. As proud as I was, I went to campus alone, went to the market alone, and even went to church alone, trying to prove that yeah, I've grown up. But it's God's grace that I've made it home alive because sometimes I'd look back and think I was going a strange way, only to find out I was on the right path. It clearly shows that God is trying to guide a stubborn daughter .The next day, I went to campus for afternoon class and texted a lady I hadn't seen but had been chatting with online - in my mind, I'd made her a sister, a big sister in school. Before coming to school, I'd told my parents about her, but when they heard her age, they wanted me not to be close to her. They told me to block her, but I couldn't bear to do it. I just hid her WhatsApp and blocked phone calls. They were afraid she'd influence me in a negative way, that she'd be like a god mother or get me into trouble. But I was like, "I'm too smart to be influenced, I'm a stubborn girl, I know."

So, before the lecture started, I texted her, "Please can I see the notes?" We were having GEO 107, and she told me to just leave a space. I obeyed, left a space, and jot notes on what the lecturer was discussing. Then I asked her where she was, I called her, and she told me she was... (I couldn't get her, I was saying "where, where"!) She got tired of my question and hung up .

I was standing there looking around, and I turned ... My parents didn't want me to see her in the first place and I went home. The next day, she told me she wanted to see me after the morning class. I agreed and went for the lecture. We were having GST 111, and after that, I texted her to meet up and she wasn't online. I left to my faculty to collect my registration... but the registration receipt wasn't available, so I went under the faculty for the next class...
