Chahat was sitting beside Aarav, but she couldn't gather the courage to look at her parents. Her eyes remained lowered, filled with shame and guilt. Words refused to come out of her mouth.
On the other side, her parents weren't ready to speak to her either. In fact, they couldn't even bring themselves to look at her face. The entire house was filled with a heavy silence, as if every wall was holding onto unspoken pain.
After a few moments, Aarav finally broke the silence. In a calm and respectful tone, he said,
"May I say something?"
Chahat's father gave a slight nod and replied, "Yes."
Aarav looked at him and said gently,
"Can you please tell me why you are angry with Chahat? What mistake are you punishing her for?"
Hearing this, Chahat's father's expression hardened. In a stern and angry voice, he replied,
"You are asking me this question, even after everything that has happened to you? I don't think I need to explain why I'm upset with her. But since you asked, I will tell you."
He took a deep breath and continued,
"She broke my trust. She took such a big decision without my permission. Not even once did she feel the need to ask me. She made one of the biggest decisions of her life on her own… and didn't even give us the right to be a part of her happiness."
Aarav listened patiently and then spoke with understanding in his voice,
"Uncle, I understand what you are feeling. But please… look at her once. She didn't do any of this intentionally. She was just trying to help her childhood friend, Myra. She has understood her since childhood."
He paused and then continued,
"If she had stepped back at that moment and refused to help, she would never have been able to face herself. But even she didn't know that fate would play such a cruel game with her."
Chahat's parents looked shocked after hearing this. Slowly, her father turned toward her and asked,
"Chahat… is this true?"
With tears in her eyes and guilt in her voice, Chahat nodded and said,
"Yes, Papa… I was just helping Myra. I never imagined that destiny would turn against me like this. I wanted to tell everyone that it wasn't Myra under the veil… but I couldn't. I had promised her that no one would find out the truth."
Her voice broke as she spoke.
Hearing this, her parents' expressions softened. They walked toward her, and her father gently placed his hand on her head. In a softer voice, he said,
"You don't need to be afraid anymore. We are not angry with you now. Forgive us… for not even trying to understand you once… and for breaking our relationship with you so quickly."
Those words shattered Chahat's restraint. She immediately stood up and hugged her parents tightly, crying uncontrollably. After so much pain and distance, she was finally back in their arms.
Her parents forgave her.
Then they turned toward Aarav with a warm smile. Her father said,
"Son, come here."
He made Aarav stand beside Chahat and said,
"Whatever happens, happens for a reason… and for good."
Chahat looked confused, trying to understand what he meant.
He continued,
"Chahat, you are very lucky to have a husband like him… someone who understands you and stood up for you. And we are equally lucky to have a son-in-law like Aarav."
Hearing this, Chahat looked at Aarav with soft, loving eyes. Slowly, she began to feel something she had buried deep inside her heart for years—her love for Aarav.
Sensing the emotional atmosphere, Chahat's mother suddenly changed the topic. She placed her hand on her head dramatically and said,
"Oh God! I didn't even offer you both a glass of water."
She quickly stood up and said,
"You both sit, I'll be back."
She soon returned with water and added warmly,
"You both are not leaving without having food here."
Chahat smiled and said playfully,
"Okay, Maa… but I have one condition."
Her mother raised an eyebrow and asked, "What condition?"
Chahat replied with a smile,
"My condition is… I will help you in the kitchen."
Her mother held her ears lightly and said teasingly,
"You naughty girl! You scared me so much… and now this!"
Everyone burst into laughter.
Chahat went to the kitchen with her mother, and together they decided to cook Aarav's favorite dishes as a way to thank him for everything he had done.
Soon, the food was ready. The dining table was filled with a variety of delicious dishes—all of Aarav's favorites. Seeing this, Aarav felt genuinely happy.
Chahat's father smiled and said,
"Come, son, let's eat."
As Aarav started eating, he was clearly impressed. Smiling, he said,
"The food is really delicious."
Chahat's mother looked at Chahat proudly and said,
"She made everything herself. She didn't let me do anything."
Chahat smiled softly and looked at Aarav,
"What you did for me… this is nothing compared to that."
Slowly, the distance between Aarav and Chahat began to fade. They were growing closer, understanding each other more deeply with every moment.
But… little did they know—
A storm was about to enter their lives… one they had never even imagined.
