The next morning Arjun woke up much earlier than others, noticing none had woken up yet he took a quick trip to the reception of hotel to order some buttermilk and left it near Madan's room and went back to his room to get refreshed.
Madan woke up with a splitting headache a bit later on. As he wanted to get some buttermilk to relieve the headache, he noticed a glass of buttermilk next to his door. He quickly understood it was Arjun who had done this as Bhargav had never done this before.
He consumed it all in quick gulps and finally after a while he felt a bit better. When he noticed his son sleeping like a dud in the next bed he could only lament how great it would have been if Arjun was his son instead.
But considering it is what it is he was still happy for Karan for finding such a good friend. He felt Arjun was made for great things, If Karan would be a part of his journey it would be for the better. As he was thinking about this he started gaining a rough idea of what to do.
Once Karan woke up and was done with refreshments he sat him down and explained his thoughts. He asked whether Karan had any plans of becoming partners with Arjun. Karan was already started feeling a sense of alienation from Arjun as one was always busy contemplating about business while he himself was clueless.
When Madan brought up this idea Karan instantly felt this would be a perfect choice for him. Not only would he be able to stay with Arjun with longer periods of time he would also be able to learn from Arjun and perhaps be of more help.
Madan who was afraid his son would reject the golden gate standing in front of him was finally relieved. At least he carried some of his brain, although a bit immature it could be ironed out in time, and if he could learn even half of Arjun's business acumen only sky was the limit. What he failed to realize though was that this was a ten year old kid. How could you compare a ten year old kid with someone who had been reborn and was over thirty years old mentally. Perhaps Karan was destined to be looked down on by his father forever.
Now all that was left was to wait for Arjun and ask for his opinion. They quickly met Arjun and Bhargav in the hotel as it was already getting late for the breakfast.
As they were having their breakfast Madan spoke to Arjun first, "So Arjun how do you plan to proceed with the printing press purchase?".
According to what he knew Arjun had around eighty five thousand rupees with him right now, twenty thousand was given by him for the idea that was sold to him, twenty thousand was sent to him by Vasu earlier this morning, the rest forty six thousand were handed to him by Vladimir as commission for his help.
Madan was impressed when he came to learn about this from Karan. Perhaps it was not only him who wanted to form a long term relation with his guy. Giving twenty thousand rubles without any other motives would be quite ridiculous after all, And Vladimir did not give him the impression of being such a kind. Although he had the aura of a second generation heir he was not obnoxious enough to throw away five percent of his total purchase as a tip.
Arjun who was still thinking about his next steps could only give a sigh when Madan had mentioned this. Although he had made eighty six thousand rupees and could purchase both the offset printing machines if he wanted to this it would only leave him with around ten thousand to spare.
He did not think they would be enough for all the other expenses like transportation, raw material, employee wages, rental for their new workplace, the list just goes on and on.
His other option was to purchase one machine which had to be repaired and repair it. It would cost him around thirty three thousand for this as informed by Gopal Rao during his earlier negotiation.
With this he would have enough money for the rest of the things. But spending more money on working and raw material charges than on the machines, especially during the initial phase did not sit well with him. If things did not work out he could always sell the machines and proceed with another business but purchasing only one machine would completely remove that possibility.
When he explained his current dilemma to Madan, Bhargav and Karan were listening intently too. Bhargav was quite impressed by how intelligent Arjun's thought process for the future plans were could only to sigh to himself in defeat. Perhaps this was what a genius was.
Karan was on a completely different plane to Bhargav, While Bhargav was busy admiring his genius, Karan was starting to think about how Arjun came to such conclusions and why. Although he could not make sense of much of the decisions, he could at least understand the thought process behind his plans.
Once Arjun was done explaining his current situation to Madan he could only sigh and turn his face down dejectedly. In fact he too had other motives in speaking like this to Madan.
Madan was the only guy rich enough and with enough trust in him right now, And his aim was exactly to use this point and ask for a loan from Madan so that he could purchase both the machines.
Madan then smoothly brought up the possibility of him investing through Karan, as they were already good friends being partners would only make their relation stronger.
Arjun was surprised initially but then as he began to think about this he could understand Madan's point. He had already taken considerable amount of help from Madan already.
In fact in some sense the reason for him being here was because of being in good graces of Madan. He had already helped him get his initial pot of gold, connected him with the press seller, Acted as a proxy to receive his money.
Although he could accomplish these without his help, Madan's aid sped up the process by a lot. He was also not an ungrateful person. He had already decided early on to repay his faith if a chance was presented to him.
Also there was the issue of company registration. If he wanted to register his own company he had to get his father to agree and make another trip to the town for the registration, this would take a couple of weeks in the least, time which he did not have.
With Madan being interested in this venture, they could just make Madan register the company and proceed with the printing press in a much smoother manner.
Once he reached this conclusion he started contemplating about the amount of shares he could offer them considering most of the innovation in production and selling the products would be done by him.
He first enquired Madan about how much money would he be comfortable in investing into this to which Madan had replied any amount would be acceptable to him.
Arjun who got the gist of Madan's motives then proposed a plan of Madan registering the company with an initial capital of fifty thousand rupees.
Arjun would then purchase seventy five percent of the company from him for a nominal price of one rupee and invest rest of his liquidity into the company funds. This would help resolve many of the problems that could arise in the future.
With him owning seventy five percent of the company it would firmly be in his hands, and with Madan's reputation in their surrounding villages it would act as a deterrent against people with nefarious ideas as well as boosting their reputation in these villages and the nearby towns.
Madan was very satisfied with how thorough Arjun's plan was. He did not mind giving Arjun a larger share. He felt getting Karan to raid on Arjun's coattails was already a good thing. If his son could pick up one or two things about running a business from Arjun he would be eternally grateful.
Karan finally started smiling, At last he could be sure he would not be left behind. These days he was under considerable pressure as the stares he received from Madan was slowly turning more and more hostile.
Although he knew his father would not bully him, he felt the need to prove himself. He could remain son of Madan forever after all. Now it was finally his turn to show off his prowess, he didn't know what they were though.
With the deal being agreed to both sides Madan signaled Bhargav to go ahead with the registration process. This would take at least a week though during which time they could start the process of shifting the press to their village and start producing.
He was not afraid of anyone enquiring about them starting production without any permit as he was the village head and had considerable weight in his village after all.
